Now, now Marc..no bragging. I have all of those in my stash as well, mint kits, rebuildables, and resin. The idea of these lists is not what was, but what could be..I limited my list to variations of the recent (last 25 years) tooling from Revell..40+ yr old tooling is one thing, but some subjects (like the '65 GTO) would be certainly nice to see done w/ modern tooling...

Good luck to our northern neighbors

Was talking w/ my Mom and brother in eastern Ohio yesterday..sounds like it's been bad there in the last week and going to get worse. Supposed to be cool and rainy here this week, with high in the low 50s a couple days, a big change from the highs in the 70s of the last couple weeks... -
Sharp build..coming along nicely. I've never heard of the twin-plug setup..interesting..I assume there was some sort of advantage to a setup like that?

Oh yeah...that one in Boss 302, Boss 302 Laguna Seca and Boss 302R versions gets my vote. Others from '11 releases: 2011 Mustang GT from Revell 2010 Mustang GT (i.e. get the 5.0 motor) 2011 Mustang Shelby GT500 from Revell 2010 Mustang GT 2012 Chevy Camaro Z-28 from Revell 2011 Chevy Camaro SS Variations from tooling already out that come to mind for me: '11 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 from '09 Dodge Challenger SRT8 '65 GTO ht from Revell '66 GTO ht '67 GTO ht or conv from Revell '66 GTO ht '70-72 Olds 442 fastback from Revell '72 Olds conv '70-72 Olds Cutlass SX or Supreme formal ht from Revell '72 Olds conv '68-69 Chevelle SS ht from Revell '72 Olds '71-72 Buick GS from Revell '72 Olds or '70 Buick GSX '70 Dodge Charger R/T from Revell '68/69 Charger R/T '68-69 Dodge Coronet R/T from Revell '68/69 Charger R/T '69 Mustang Boss 302 from '69 Mach 1 (with corrected headlight buckets) '69 Mercury Cyclone GT or Spoiler from '69 Talledega '70 Mercury Cyclone from '70 Torino '57 Chevy Bel Air convertible or Nomad from Revell modern-tool '57 Chevy Bel Air 2dr sedan '56 Chevy Bel Air ht or convertible from Revell '56 Chevy 2dr sedan '32 Ford Victoria, B400, Phaeton, sedan delivery, or 4dr sedan street rods from Revell modern-tool '32 Ford I'm hesitant to list any modified reissues for AMT or Lindberg because those seem much less likely to occur compared to Revell.

I used Public Storage 12x12x16 boxes IIRC for my models for each move (since Public Storage is where I have my storage units). I assigned each box a number, created an Excel spreadsheet for each box to list the inventory. I could get about 10-12 kit boxes or so in each box. I packed away about 100 boxes of kits w/ my '02 move, and 50 w/ my '08 move...probably will only have 10-15 boxes of kits for the next move. But I really need to consolidate everything together in one location rather than in 3 states as it is now..

Well, the Monaco is only 37 years old, while the Olds is really old.. I remember seeing those mid '70s Monacos on the road as a kid..I've only seen a couple '49 Olds at car shows, never on the road...for the Monaco, I'd want to do a Blues Brothers replica (as I'm a fan of the movie) and one stock, as I like '70s land yachts...
-
For vintage Oldsmobiles, I'd rather see a '66 Toronado (though I have the Johan kits) or an early '70s Cutlass SX coupe (though I can kitbash one from the Revell convertible).
-
We'll see.. I'm skeptical of the 'Doc Hudson' angle for the Hudson kit, since it's not being marketed as the 'Cars' car... at least Oldsmobile is a brand that is still relatively familiar...Hudson was long gone even when I was born 40 years ago...
-
Seems like the same kind of obscure vintage subject as the Moeibus Hudson. Wonder how that one will do.
-
LoL.. I can imagine the frustration of trying to be 100% accurate w/ a racing car model, since they often changed lots of details from race to race through a season..
-
Collectible Automobile is probably my favorite of the old American car subject mags...been reading it for 25 years. For vintage racing and vintage European cars, I love Motorsport, Classic & Sportscar, and Octane..
-
I pick up Mopar Action and Mopar Muscle once in a while strictly for the pictures, not the writing..I get ideas for builds from those mags. As far as other magazines, I like Hemmings Classic Cars and Hemmings Muscle Machines, but a lot of times some of the writers come off (esp. in their columns) as grumpy old men living in the past...

The Camaros were pretty sweet...would make a great kit subject, IMO...there was a orange one that got hit last evening, driver's door was ripped open from the front. -

Just saw that...did ya see the BMW M6 earlier that went behind the wall, still under it's own power, mysteriously missing the roof, rear window, hood? I wonder how it got like that... -
One thing the model magazines need to pay attention to are typos and factual errors...picked up the SA Contest issue the other day, great pics but so many errors in the captions, it was painful to read.
-
That may have been my first issue..I recall discovering SAE the summer between high school and college..it was revelatory to find a magazine about the hobby.

Throw the Computer out.

It is tough...I find myself using my laptop whenever I'm watching TV, or surfing on my phone whenever I'm not near the laptop. It doesn't help that I spend 40 hrs a week using my laptop in my corporate life...just so used to being online all the time. -
Moves are a pain...I still have a lot of models and furniture in storage from my last two moves..going to probably be moving again in the next year.
-
No idea..IIRC, the '49 Olds fake box appeared around 10-12 years ago, which was over 20 years after the Lesney purchase of AMT (I think that was in the late '70s, then ERTL bought AMT in the mid '80s).

IIRC, I saw this car in the Henry Ford museum about 20 years ago in Johnson configuration w/ a roof.

I had a fun afternoon...skipped B-J and went to the Gooding & Company auction--some incredible '50s-60s European cars (a stunning Fiat 8V, a couple Aston Martins, Ferraris, a couple Mercedes), a couple '30s Packards and Rolls Royces, a Shelby GT350R (raced by Pedro Rodriguez), a unrestored Tucker, a Maserati MC12, etc. A nice relaxed small event. Afterwards went to the Scottsdale Pavillions cruise in--huge--all sorts of cars from '32 Ford hot rods to suede '50s cars to oodles of muscle cars and '50-60s big cars and lots of Mopies..quite a variety of cars showed up..first time I've been to that..a lot of fun...then dinner in Old Town Scottsdale. Great weather today..going to try and go to Russo & Steele tomorrow.

I'm going to check out the Gooding & Company auction today...maybe hit the Scottsdale Pavilions this evening, then maybe Russo & Steele tomorrow.
