  1. With Round 2, you pay a premium for old, familiar tooling, often with new decals and retro box art. Sometimes, new or retooled parts, often not. Some people prefer the familiar to the unknowns and complexity of new-tool kits from other makers. The nostalgia angle sells. They want that wire axle with the hole in the engine block, chassis with everything molded in place, molded-in headlights, etc. Never underestimate the demand for same old, same old. (Only being slightly cynical and sarcastic—I like a little of everything—the old stuff and the new stuff from lots of kit makers)
  2. Way cool idea and results..love the extras in the trunk..
  3. Those wheels looked the same in photos to me until I dug them out and compared them...the Hurst wheels have a much thicker rim.
  4. D'oh..I rechecked the GTO kit and my 'to-build notes' spreadsheet, turns out I've already taken the Hurst wheels out of that kit box to use on another project... too many kits, too many ideas...
  5. Interesting...my recent reissue of the GTO doesn't have the Hurst wheels, only the stock ones and 80s multi-spoke.
  6. Different world... print magazines barely exist anymore, though TV ads and online ads still tout the regular Mustang and Charger's performance.
  7. FYI—Model Roundup added both Chevy IIs today for pre-order, ETA Late Feb.
  8. Been unseasonably mild this winter so far in Cleveland. Only a dusting of snow earlier in the month. Lots of rain. But January is almost here...mid Jan through Feb is usually the coldest... March is only a little over 2 months away.
  9. I’ve seen a couple Mach-Es around, it’s pretty sharp. I’ll definitely check them out closely when I’m ready for my next SUV, I’m EV-curious; intrigued by the idea of an EV Mustang CUV (I’ve owned a few Mustangs over the years). It’s apparently connecting with people— it accounts for 50% of Mustang sales now. A bold move for Ford. EVs are definitely a growing force in the market, not going away.
  10. I believe that is the case. AMT did the coupe & conv for ‘62 and ‘63, wagon for ‘63, and a curbside Craftsman ht for ‘65 (which became the AWB drag car). Never seen any reference to a ‘64 from AMT. I think since the Chevelle was new for ‘64, maybe GM didn’t contract AMT for a Chevy II promo that year? I’ve read also that the ‘64 Chevy II lineup didn’t have a hardtop at first, was added later in the year.
  11. I haven't been in a Wal-Mart in months, but have used them online a bit...I mostly shop on Amazon (really like Whole Foods for groceries) but I have probably a 1/2 dozen local groceries w/ multiple locations to choose from (many are on Instacart for delivery, have also done curbside pickup), Walgreens less than a mile away..etc... never seem to have an issue finding anything I need. Sometimes Whole Foods does weird substitutions when they are out of some things, though.
  12. I haven't seen the original, but the MST3K version was hilarious...
  13. I saw a new Taycan a while back in a pale pastel blue...called 'Frozen Blue' I think.
  14. Arrived today..looks good at first flip through.
  15. Looks better without that thick side trim, IMO.
  16. And the smallest are the most intense...I've had Yorkies, West Highland White Terriers, Australian Terriers, Silkys, and Cairns...my 6lb Yorkie girl is the biggest diva...
  17. Terriers are very determined and stubborn..part of why I like them so much..
  18. The humpy car on the right in the video is a Lincoln from around 1949-50, like this Cosmopolitan.
  19. Yeah, I liked Hobby Depot..that was my regular for years when I lived in the Valley of the Sun. Used to go there at least once month, esp. when I was working in Tempe and Chandler.
  20. That was a good movie IIRC...
  21. Fascinating...never thought about the length of a paper money bill.
  22. Last shipment of goodies from Japan came.
  23. Yes, the Rolling Thunder kit is what I was thinking of.
