any rumors regarding the AMT '64 Comet Caliente?
Rob Hall replied to Motor City's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Seems like a natural for the 'Craftsman Plus' reboxing like the '64 Ford. -
And the academy award for best soundtrack goes to…

BMWs latest styling trends make the Chris Bangle designs of the mid 00s look pretty good by comparison. My favorite era of BMWs is still the late 80s to early 00s (pre-Bangle). -
I changed the oil on my Jeep back in June because it had been a year, but I’d only put 1500 miles it since the previous year. But I’ve put about 2500 miles on it since June. Lots of weekend trips.

Nothing to talk about, it's been reissued a couple times in the last 15 years...once by Model King and once by Round 2 IIRC...I assume this is the same ol', same ol' w/ new box art and decals...

Neat..I remember the 'ME' and cat graphics from the movie...a very funny flick. -
History of AMT & MPC's Action Line Pickup Kits
Rob Hall replied to Fabrux's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I would think so..found this pic of a '72 GMC interior, the AMT '72 Chevy interior looks pretty much the same.. -
Ford C800 Gar-Wood Load Packer. It's Happening!

Internet forums are very good at taking the slightest comment and spinning it up into high drama...see that everyday here, on FB, and other forums. Some people thrive on drama. -
I made an appointment a couple weeks ago for the flu shot at my local Walgreens, even with the appointment, I had to wait about 45 min. Seems they were understaffed in the pharmacy.

History of AMT & MPC's Action Line Pickup Kits
Rob Hall replied to Fabrux's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Interesting how the '68 seat pattern is very similar to the reissue '72, except for the center section. I also have '68 and '69 MPC, AMT '69 and 70 Chevy pickups, the AMT '71 GMC Sierra Grande kit and a couple of the '72 GMC step sides, but none are handy to compare. -
History of AMT & MPC's Action Line Pickup Kits

Comparing my AMT ‘67 with the recent ‘72 reissue, the interior door panels, steering wheel, and seat are different. The seat upholstery pattern is similar but different, and the center section of the seat has a raised sort of armrest on the ‘72. First 3 photos are ‘67, last two photos are from the recent ‘72 Racer’s Wedge release. -
Reality is complex.

Two sides to everything...I was in high school in that time period also...I took all the college prep/AP courses, computer courses, etc...went on and got my BS and MS in computer science... it was definitely the right choice for me, I've never seen a shortage of high paying jobs in software development..

Funny how we remember things like that...in June of 1997, I was in the process of moving from Michigan to Colorado, was driving west on I-80 in Nebraska around 1:00 am...saw an orange glow in the sky...came upon a late 80s Caprice burning underneath an overpass... little to no traffic, no one around, no police or fire truck to be seen....

It's a '96.

ford 8000 dump truck sans snow plow
Rob Hall replied to happy grumpy's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Very nice..some excellent weathering and the background and lighting are great. By the way, I think AMT did release a version of the Ford dump truck w/o the snowplow a long time ago. -
What happened to the '68 Impala molds???
Rob Hall replied to ranma's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
That's a bit different, the '68 Mustang tooling originally had pre-painted diecast body versions...'American Dreams' and 'Bullitt'... don't think they did a promo version per se...likewise for the 1/25th Challenger, was issued w/ a pre-painted diecast originally.. -

Revell made promos in the late 90s-early 00s...Corvettes. And some retro promos like the '63 Corvette. -
Got a bunch of goodies today, incl the new Bronco and trailer set. Interesting it didn’t have plastic wrap but tape on all 4 sides. From eBay got a cheap extra Revell Suburban with a bad box, that is to use with the Jimmy Flintstone phantom shortened Suburban body. Also got a Jimmy Flintstone ‘61 Ford Fairlane 2dr sedan.

I no longer want to be a USPS customer.
Rob Hall replied to Brutalform's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I generally don’t have issues w/ the USPS, UPS, FedEx or Amazon. Sometimes items get misdelivered to a house with the same house number and a similar street name 2 streets over. My mail delivery person drives a slick Mercedes RHD 2 seater. -
Ah. Interesting. Ideal is an old toy company. Made all sorts of stuff.

The last pic looks like someone's parts box buggy made from random parts put together...looks like maybe a Corvair engine? Not sure about the origin of the Thunderbird. '56? I don't think it's the Monogram...I do see on Scalemates that Premier and Korris Kars made them in 1/25th, never seen one though.

2021 IPMS Nationals Kit Information
Rob Hall replied to niteowl7710's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Yeah, their websites aren't very accurate for either the EU or US side as far as current kits and upcoming releases.. they don't seem to put much effort into it. They still have the Porsche 918 in the Street Rods category on the US site, for example. -
I'm sure it's part of the problem...
