Looking for PE '32 Ford grill inserts
Mr. Metallic replied to Greg Myers's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I agree. I've purchased the MCG sets, which are really nice. But i usually only end up using the grille anymore. -
J Flintstone 53 Stude SD Body question
Mr. Metallic replied to thatz4u's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Jimmy Flinstone has been around for 20+ years, and his quality has increased quite a bit over that time. Since the beginning, his bodies were priced well below his contemporaries, so there are a lot of them floating out there. His prices are lower because he deals in volume. And prior to about 7-8 years ago, the quality was representative of bodies that were designed to be produced very quickly. Most casting were quite thick, and required work to be able to be used with kit donor chassis and interiors. More recently though his bodies have been much better with regards to thickness and window/hood openings. One thing I have noticed in this time though it a very stubborn release agent that can be present and must be thoroughly dealt with before painting. So, his bodies are best purchased in person so you can evaluate exactly what you're getting. Here's an Edsel wagon i built from one of his bodies. This body was almost a drop on, quality wise. -
Chinese tariff war and models
Mr. Metallic replied to GLMFAA1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Apparent;y, it's just not that simple when dealing with the Chinese government. You can't just "move the tooling somewhere else". I speak from experience. The company I work for has gone through similar scenarios, with injection molded and cast metal parts. They have had to cut new tooling for parts formerly sourced from China to have the parts produced in the US. -
Thanks for the response Mike. I was hoping it would work in one of the full size cars. I do have a 69 galaxie floating around the stash. Hmm

Thank you. I knew the AMT kits were LWB. But I was hoping the front suspensions would be the same. Oh well.
-
Kitbashing ideas? Can this frame be used under the AMT 61-63 pickups? What other uses are there for the 6 in this kit? What years was it used in trucks. Any crossover to passenger car applications?

Very creative concept, well executed. Thanks for taking us along for the ride. I especially like the clean bodywork

1940 Ford Wagon with scratch trailer - MADE IN BRAZIL
Mr. Metallic replied to uelder valongo's topic in Model Cars
Nice conversion work. Clean detailing. Someone needs to build a 1:1 -
Thanks Kerry. Like you, my interests are all over the place, but all I ever seem to finish are rods and customs. I have 3 1st gen broncos, two jeepsters, and a few other old school SUV builds on the list. Just not enough time in the day
-
Thank you. It got back-burnered when I had other time commitments recently come up. But I have bought the AMT parts pack dirtbike set to tow behind it. Some day

Thanks for letting me know. I've been dabbling with this one lately, a restoration/kitbash of the Swamp Buggy version. Thought it would be cool to have a top for it, but If I don't it's no big deal.

Thanks Alan and Rob. I guess i should ask before I go on the hunt, will this top fit the CJ-2 body depicted in the Hogans Hero/Korean War kit? I would assume so, but you know what happens when you assume...

Stock Model A frames ??
Mr. Metallic replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
This is a very intriguing project, and based on your recent examples of your 3d work, I'd be very interested if you made these commercially available. Especially if it integrates well with the body/fender parts from Revell. -
Need info on '32 Deuce Coupe
Mr. Metallic replied to john66's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Shhh... I'm currently gathering parts for just such a thing as a surprise build for a friend of mine. Last part I'm really on the lookout for is the rear bumper from the MPC/AMT milner coupe. I know it's a simple bar that I could probably bend out of aluminum, but I like the look of the kit piece. -
Need info on '32 Deuce Coupe
Mr. Metallic replied to john66's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Haha, I hadn't even noticed you said Spielberg And i could be wrong on the channeling too. We can agree on one thing, it was always intended to be lower. -
Were these the only two versions to have this style uptop in them? I really would like to have the top if anyone has one to spare (not to be confused with the Monogram 1/24 version)

Calnaga Castings Open Again
Mr. Metallic replied to 1stevep25's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Nice to see you back, you have a lot of parts that are unique to the market. I'm especially intrigued by the dirt bike tires, having recently purchased the Round2 part pack dirt bike set. In those, the wheel and tire are molded together, so yours would be a possible upgrade. Also, your 427 SOHC conversion. Are these parts based on original masters, modified kit parts, or other? -
Calnaga Castings just announced their return, and they have a 427 SOHC in their catalog. Curious if these are copies of existing kit parts, or improved kit base items? Adds a new wrinkle to this conversation either way... http://www.calnaga.com/Store.html

Yeah, just call it the Man of Iron roadster With regards to the tooling, the Rat Roaster is all new tooling, separate from the R/M roadster from the late 90's. It's engineered to be in the same "family" as the R/M deuce kits, so parts can swap, but the tooling was all new. So Blitz has two tooling options to base this Man of Iron car on if they ever chose to do it.

To my knowledge, the Mach 1 version (which depicts an actual FoMoCo showcar) was never reissued. The tooling was modified into three successive versions (listed in what I believe is their release order, I could be wrong). One of these versions should still be viable, whichever one was issued last probably. Iron Horse Superstang And the Autolite Special
