Foose Cadillac Body
Mr. Metallic replied to Freeman Cars's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
That came out great. I'll be looking for it on that auction site. Been waiting to build my kit until I got this body -
Testors Model Master paint
Mr. Metallic replied to crazyjim's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks for the info about the Testors product line in this thread. Glad to see it's not as bad as originally feared -
That's a cool concept, and cleanly executed. It can pass for one of those late 50's, early 60's sedan style runabouts. Just maybe add sliding glass on the sides and you're there. You may have to figure out a means of getting in and out, either by leaving the rear glass out and making the opening bigger by carving some of the roof away. Or you can do an opening hatch in the roof.

Peter, thank you so much for taking the time to type up that summary of the Ford GT40 program. It was an interesting read. I recently purchased the Gulf livery Fujimi kit, and have the HRM engine kit and wide wheels/tires on order. I'm hopeful I can make mine look even a fraction as good as yours came out. Just excellent builds all around of this iconic group of vehicles. Thanks again for sharing

Based on your other recent work I know I'll be following along on this one. Plans for running gear yet?

That top looks great. Nice job!

1947 Labatt's Beer Truck
Mr. Metallic replied to Art Laski's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Very cool little build. I would be hard pressed to recognize it as only H/O scale if you hadn't identified it that way. -
The Model Car Garage status...
Mr. Metallic replied to aurfalien's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I don't think the sentiment is that when Modelhaus closed the hobby would collapse. Or that it will collapse when others close. I think the sentiment is that if you see something you want from an aftermarket company, buy it now, don't wait because they wont be around forever. -
"Too Many '69 Camaros and '32 Fords!"
Mr. Metallic replied to Casey's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
What a lot of us tend to forget in our very enthusiastic but small bubble here in the hobby is that we are still not the main target of the industry. yes, they have provided us with some "fringe" and less mainstream subjects the last 8-10 years, but for the most part the market is full of casual builders who are most familiar with anything Camaro, Corvette, Mustang, 60-70's muscle cars and street rods. That's what sells to the mass market. -
Anyone know a Bill Stillwagon?
Mr. Metallic replied to JollySipper's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Bill is an amazingly creative builder, but more importantly, one hell of a guy. Very humble, and always willing to share his techniques and tips. And he has a realistic view of our hobby. He's a build for your own happiness type. Critics and experts be damned -
Man, this thing is stellar. Very clean execution on your traditional style modifications. As noted in the build thread, you did an excellent job on the ignition wiring and I think a few of us will be trying to imitate your technique. Two thumbs up on this one

Ok, so how about this one? A new tool 57 Chevy Nomad. Make it a 2n1 with the stock Nomad and the wheels/tires and decals to build this. Maybe even use the iconic box art, how great would that look on the shelves? Now, I know the box art may confuse the more seasoned buyers among us who may think it's the old tooling in the box. So maybe Revell could put the new tooling and just use similar styled boxart while still show it's all new tooling inside. Even without the boxart, lets see that new tool 57 Nomad!

Very clean build. Makes me want to dig out my Plum Crazy an throw a little detail at it. Built it as a kid and I think it would be fun to revisit it.
-
Nice conversion work, and a clean, yet understated build. Definite sleeper material

Yeah, last few years Round2 and Revellogram have gotten away from announcing anything more than 6 months in advance. Ever since the RCHTA show went away, where they used to make an entire years worth of announcements. They also probably got tired of hearing the complaints from people when something was "late" Now they don't announce until something is well though development and tooling. While there are still occasional delays, it's nothing like it used to be

That's what I thought you said in one of your earlier posts, so I looked in a couple '66 GT350R kits at a swap meet this weekend and couldn't find that seat. All I could find where the stock seats in the boxes.
-
What kit did the seat come from? This is coming together wonderfully.

Red C2 1963 Split Window Corvette Stingray
Mr. Metallic replied to RestoModGuy's topic in Model Cars
Two different animals though since the 58 was part of the Trophy Series of kits designed with more options and higher detail. The annuals from AMT were basically glorified promos with some extra detail and custom parts thrown at them. That being said, your build of this kit is excellent. You nailed the stance, and those wheels look killer tucked under the fenders like that. Very well done!- 16 replies

I've got money burning a hole in my pocket I'm specifically interested in the GT40 engine upgrade and the wide tire set -
Dave B, , can you fix the link to your pics so we can see the build again? Thanks!

Mr. Metallic replied to Randy D's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Thanks for the update Any idea on the next HRM shipment? -
Is there an advantage of the 1/24 scale grille over the 1/25 kit part? Also, I will soon have the kits you're basing your build on in my possession. Just have to order that Minilite wheel set
-
Very cool build. I dig the small details that you've added
