Did I miss something, has this body made it to market yet?

Following from the beginning, it's nice to see this one finished since you started with a cool concept. Cool little rod.

So, I've been wanting to build one of these for awhile. Still debating if I should plunk down the big bucks and get the beautiful resin conversion set from Historic Racing Miniatures to convert the Fujimi/Revell kit to full detail. I might get the Studio21 photoetch set as well. But, after watching the auctions for these Fujimi/Revell kits on the big auction site I have a couple questions. So, Fujimi originally offered the tooling, and then Revell sold their own versions of the same kit? And then Fujimi released the kit again? How recently? Also, does Fujimi offer 2 versions of this tooling? One with the rear engine cover as a separate part, and then one with the body all molded as one piece? The only version I've noticed to have the separate rear bodywork is the Gulf version with the body molded in light blue. Is that because it's a 68 car versus the rest which appear to be 66's? Are there other differences between the 66 vs 68 kits, or just the separate rear bodywork? Also, if anyone has thoughts on their experiences building this kit? From what I've heard it really is a nice kit.

Man, this is phenomenal in its subtlety. So very well executed, with attention paid to the small but important details. And knowing what you started out with for the body, I know most everyone was skeptical when you first showed us the parts. But you pulled it off. Well done!

Travelling to the Portland area for work this week, and was wondering if anyone knew of an good hobby shops in the area. Google didn't turn up a whole lot of places that looked like they sold models, besides Hobbytown. Anything else. I would be willing to drive a little ways because I'll have time for sightseeing too. I plan to try at least one of the several restaurants that have been featured on Diners,Drive-Ins, and Dives that are in the area.

Ones that come to mind are the Monogram 36 ford roadster/coupe and 40 Ford pickup. I'm sure there's more. Problem is they're the old style tooling with a lot of stuff molded in, not like the modern tooled flatties from Revell/Monogram (and some AMT) with all the great detail and separate parts.

The movie is enjoyable, not nearly as bad as many critic make it out to be. And, yes, the car is very cool too

This is a cool project. Just a note of warning, it looks the heads you're planning to use are from the Model Car Garage? If I am correct, just know that those are 1/24. Normally, 1/24 vs 1/25 doesn't matter to me, but if you try to put those heads on the 1/25 block you're using they are going to be very big. You can either sand them down carefully to make them fit, but take the chance of damaging the beautifully molded cooling fins. Or, you can do like Bernard Kron has in the past, and add a couple pieces of plastic strip to the top of the block to fill the gap. Bernard, can you share a pic of what I'm talking about?

Jimmy does sell the chopped 5 and 3 windows, the chopped 34 pickup and the B-400. However, they are not done to this level. The execution and finish on these bodies featured here is excellent. Not slamming JF resins, they have a lot of unique subjects and their quality has gotten much better the last 5-7 years. And I've actually used the JF 5 window and chopped 34 pickup bodies, so I speak from experience

This idea has a lot of potential. And knowing your knack for execution, it should turn out pretty rad. I'll be following

I believe the AMT 61 Ford, which was reissued again by Round2 within the last few years should supply your grille and bumpers, and maybe a few other bits. You could use the chassis also, but it's a metal axle promo style chassis with all detail molded in. If you're going for full detail swap in the modern tool AMT/Ertl 60 Starliner chassis and engine, and possibly the interior with some work. That one was reissued a few years ago by Round2 as a 2n1 kit. I'm not sure if has been reissued since then.

All the Michaels I've been to have had a similar small selection, and almost never new releases. Stuff that's been around elsewhere for at least 6 months

Not only does it remove chrome, it usually removes the lacquer clearcoat under the chrome. This is important for when you are having parts rechromed as it gets down to the bare plastic to better show the detail.

That thing is wicked cool.
