Those wheels came from the AMT "custom" 60 starliner. They are mounted on the trumpeter kit tires -

Satiny chrome was a problem with the first batch of kits. If you contact Stevens International you should still be able to get a new chrome tree since it is still in their catalog. The intake on the engine is a mess, but the rest of the engine is OK. The size and shape of the hardtop is not correct if that's what you have. if you have the convertible the interior is not stock, but very nice. It's an underated kit that can be built up very nicely if you spend some time correcting flaws. Here's the kustom that I built, having a nonstock interior actually worked in my favor with this build. Whether or not these flaws should have made it into brand new tooling in this day and age is a debate that has been beaten to death since the kit came out. Be your own judge. -
That's looking really nice. Great stance and nice details so far.

I'm a big fan of ZZ too(listening to them right now). I plan to build the eliminator one day, but I'll be taking important parts from that kit(valve cover, air cleaner, decals...) and kitbashing with something more detailed. However, your's is looking pretty good, the hinges are a nice detail. I also have the cadzilla diecast by Hot Wheels(pretty nice), and old resin body to do Kopperhed, a '62 Chevy conversion started with the roof from the '62 catalina(this one was started by a friend). I really need to get at least one of these started

I really, really , really miss SPEED's coverage of WRC. I've got a couple WRC kits stashed away, one of these days I'll build one. Your focus is looking good. Looking forward to more.

I've been wanting to do this since the Phantom Vickie kit came out about 8 years ago. It took a long time to commit to it, but I finally just said I gotta do it. It's the Phantom Vickie body and interior installed on a revell '32 speedwagon frame and running gear. It built in the "newstalgia" style with vintage touches added to modern parts. I modified a pair of Rep and Min of Md lincoln valve covers to fit the revell engine. I also installed a Rep and Min 2 carb intake and Parts By Parks distributor. Upon a suggestion by Jairus, who designed this body concept for AMT, I modified the top to a more Carson style top. The top is actually an old Rep and Min part that was chopped a bit by Rik Hoving to give the AMT execution a better line. I covered the top with masking tape and used evergreen to make the seams. I used cigarette pack foil as a heat shield above the rearend. I like the look, and will be using that idea again. Redlines are Pegasus rub-ons applied to the revell kit tires. http://public.fotki.com/crstan/finished_mo...ndered-phantom/

That's absolutly beautiful. Great job!

Well, it's been more than 2 months since the last update, but things are actually moving again. I've installed motor mounts, finalized the front suspension and intake setup, and completed bodywork. Color will probably be either classic Testors Lime Gold or new Testors "one coat' Inca Gold, but I am leaning towards the lime. With the long weekend, i am hoping to get some serious work done on this.

That came out awesome. Well done! thanks for sharing the build-up with us. i sure learned a few things!

Yes, resin copies are available. Watch ebay or go to edeuce.com

This build is awesome. Not just the unique subject, but the techniques and methodology you are demonstrating as you progress thru the build. I, for one, am really looking forward to further installments!

Revell 69 Nova. Can This Be True?
Mr. Metallic replied to Len Woodruff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Why do so many people feel the need to be so negative around here? many of you are already ripping on kits that probably aren't even cut into tooling yet. Yes, i realize the industry is not doing great right now, but why rip apart these announcements? While the subjects may not be exactly what YOU want, they look like solid ideas that should provide money for other tooling. I just don't understand this mentality. -
How does this one compare to the Tamiya kit? Nice clean build, btw

Just trying to see if I can get these pics posted for you without a link. let me know if it works guys.

Real or Model #7 FINISHED!
Mr. Metallic replied to Harry P.'s topic in Real or Model? / Auto ID Quiz
perfect 6 for 6 so far, but I'm anticipating it coming to an end any day now. I say model and so it has, bummer. I can never be perfect again. -

1/25 Revell "Goodguys" '37 Ford Coupe Street Rod
Mr. Metallic replied to pettiner's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Is it me, or is the grille different? I don't rmemeber the thick bar on top. Glad they added some new parts to this kit, now revell will get some of my money since they made it worth my while. -
I started this about 3 weeks ago, but made some real progress on it yesterday, so i decided to start sharing it. I was looking for the perfect vehicle to stick the Caddy engine from the new revell '49 Merc, and I figured since it was a kitbash, why not try to make it all from kitbashed or parts box refugees. The resin body is a repop of an unknown T body by my friend Bruce Bientima. I scratchbuilt the frame and leaf spring, attahced to a modified tube axle from amt 25 T. The wheels and tires are from a Road Rats diecast. I will be stealing a few hot rod goodies from a revell parts pack caddy. Seats are from AMT '56 Ford. Just have to finish up the mtor mounts and floor and it'll be ready for paint. Thanks for looking. Thanks to Steve H for the inspiration to try my making own suicide frontend. When he did his on that yellow A sedan i knew I had to try it. may not be as nice as his, but it works.

This is AMT's The Fast and The Furious Tokyo Drift Nissan 350Z. It is built box stock except for the big diameter centerline wheels. I chose these wheels over the objections of many. I was just trying to go for a clean, race inspired look, so I went with my gut. I'm happy with it. Here are a couple build tips for anyone attempting this build. First, AMT does give positive gluing surfaces for the front and rear body parts. Do yourself a favor and attach these permenantly before you start painting. They require a little pressure to stay together while gluing with a clothespin which is fine, but trying to do this without damaging the paint is nearly impossible. You may need to modify the mounting tabs where the body meets the frame, but that is about a 10 second job. All the other parts in the kit fit very well with almost no modification. Be careful with your sequence when installing the rear suspension/axle/exhaust. the directions are not clear, and many parts snake through eachother. No indication on where to paint the black window trim is given, so make your best guess(I didn't bother with it). I did however leave off the turbo setup, it didnt allow the body to meet the inner fenderwells, and really couldn't be seen anyway. http://public.fotki.com/crstan/finished_mo..._me/350z-tuner/
