Been tinkering with this between projects and using it to test some paint in the airbrush. I started out spraying a light metallic green nail polish and using a part of a set of Lazy Modeler flames I sprayed in a slightly darker green. I then put the body in my dehydrator for a short while before pulling the stencils. BAD IDEA! The glue from the stencils separated from the frisket and became impossible to remove without removing paint. So, into the strip tank. I then sprayed it with the remainder of the light green and, not having enough paint to cover well, I sprayed over it with a darker metallic green nail polish. To my surprise it turned out to be a perfect shade of British Racing Green ( to me). http:// http:// http:// Unfortunately, I don't have any of the light green left to be able to replicate the shade for the frame and remainder of the parts. With that in mind, I think I will do the frame in either a Tamiya or Nail polish gloss white or a very fine flake silver. Leaning more towards the gloss white. This morning I hit it quickly with some Scratch X and polish and that's where this "fill in" project stands. I have a second kit of this that I am planning a purple and lavender paint scheme for. This build will give me a good idea of how the kit goes together. Later-

I use the stuff all the time. Years ago, while living in Alaska, I found a new model shop one day. While looking at their Evergreen packages I noticed that they were priced awfully low. I bought around 10 packages of various sizes and shapes for a few dollars. I figured that they were having a grand opening sale. The young kid behind the counter had no idea. It wasn't until a few weeks later that it dawned on me that the prices were for each strip, not the entire pack. I had never seen a store selling them by the strip so it didn't pop into my head. Love the look of this. I have tried using printed designs on paper for interiors. It works well. I need to sit down this weekend and print off a few different ones for upcoming projects. Keep up the great work. Later-

56 Pontiac or Olds diesel?
Modlbldr replied to Modlbldr's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well, given the responses here and from what I read on-line I think that my friend is mistaken insome of his details. Thanks everyone for your replies. If anyone comes up with any concrete evidence I would love to hear it. I'll see if he has any photos or paperwork to verify his story. Later- -
I was talking yesterday with an older friend of mine. He is in his 80's. He was telling me that in 56 he bought either a Pontiac or an Olds car with a diesel engine. He can't remember which it was but had bought it new at a dealership and that it was experimental for the time. I asked him what model it was but he said that he can't remember for sure. He was certain it was GM. (not being a car guy it doesn't seem important to him.) He said that he was warned at the time by the dealership that the engine would only last for about 50,000 miles and he said that was about all he got out of it before the motor went South on him in the desert in Arizona. After hearing this story I started to question whether my friend's mind is starting to slip. Lol. I had never heard of a diesel in that early of a car so I did some searching on the innertube this morning. I can see articles of when Olds put a diesel in their passenger cars in the late 70's to early 80's, but nothing about anything earlier. Anybody have any info to corroborate his story? I'd love to know about it. Later-

Thanks Bill. Hadn't gotten that good of a look at it and probably wouldn't have noticed until I got ready to build it. Shouldn't be a bother though. It will spend most of its life in a display cabinet. Later-

I got this one in the mail today. Was sealed. Looks like a great kit. This is not my normal. I've never build this style of vehicle but I remember these from way back and have always liked the looks. Looking forward to it. http:// http:// The decals look like they may be a problem. I'll have to seal them before using them. Later-

http:// I was given these resin wheels by a guy at work and I'm not certain what they are. They remind me a bit of early 70's Buick wheels (Wildcat?). The baggie is labeled WH 0035. Anybody know the maker and what they are? Later-

Got this in the mail from Japan this morning. http:// Been waiting for it! Funny story. I ordered it on line a couple of months ago for a bit over $30. A couple of weeks later my wife told me that she got a message that the shipment was cancelled for no reason by the company I got it from and that the credit card had been reimbursed. I asked my wife twice over the last couple of weeks if she was sure. She told me that it had been reimbursed. Today it showed up so I asked my wife again and got the same answer. So I showed her the kit. She looked puzzled. I guess I need to get ahold of the company and have them charge my card again. Later-

That was my first airbrush too. Not a bad little brush. I had a Binks compressor too. Paid $20 for the pair. Quietest compressor I've ever had. I gave it and the AB to a Buddy when he moved. Wish I still had it. Later-

Just finished this one. Mirrors are still drying. Painted it Testors Nassau Blue. Swapped the tires and wheels and scratch built the AC unit, added wire springs. Other than that, straight out of the box. Went together great! http:// http:// http:// http:// http:// Later-

Man-A-Fre Manifold & Induction
Modlbldr replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yeah, I realized that it has some differences from the real ones pictured but since there isn't one pictured from a kit and this one came from an old 67 Camaro rebuilder I thought that it may be what it was supposed to be. Anybody got a pic of one from an original kit? Later- -
