  1. Here's a couple of what it looks like over gloss black. Great stuff. I always wondered what it looked like over other colors. Gonna do it over some gloss white soon. Yours looks great too. Later-
  2. I have to say that I generally don't involve my comments on topic such as these. For one, I don't need the drama in my life. For two, as it has already been stated, no two people are going to look at a well built model or a piece of hammered poo and judge it the same. I only offer one bit of advice. Something I learned years ago is to "Praise in Public and Criticize in private". If you can think of something positive to praise the builder on, and want to take the time, do it on their post. If you feel you need to encourage further progress in a particular area, send them a POLITE PM. An example would be: "I'm not sure how much experience you have at polishing out a paint job but what I have found that helped me was to use sanding pads and wet sand the body, working up from 4800 to 12000 grit, being careful not to burn through to the primer and stay away from the sharp edges. If you have any questions I'd be glad to share some pointers with you. Nice job on the detailing of the interior." This way if the person gets offended then it is only between you two. If they appreciate the help then you have advanced the hobby and possibly made a friend. Who knows, in the future they may credit you as their inspiration and mentor. Now, I know that there are those ones out there (like me) who always ask for comments and criticisms on their posts. If that's the case then they (me included) have to be ready for it. But if they don't specifically ask for it, or if you think it may offend......take it to PM. Later-
  3. Very cool build. I like the info on the exhaust weathering. I'll have to try that. Thanks. Later-
  4. I hate when you duck under something once and on your next trip back through (usually within 10 seconds) you forget to duck! Later-
  5. 13 years!! Is that all? I've got ones I started before I got married. It'll be 23 years this May. Build what moves you. And WELCOME to the board. Later-
  6. Nice work so far. I would say to put the vents in either just in front of the rear wheels, behind the front wheels or on the hood. Later-
  7. So the stock (non racing version) is out?? Later-
  8. Looking good. It looks great as a convertible. Jeurgens(sp?) did one a while back in almost the same color. Later-
  9. Very convincing work on the model. It turned out fantastic. It was difficult to understand the translator regarding the broken window glass. Maybe you could do a tutorial with photos of the step by step process so that we can see each step. Later-
  10. Panel Job, Panel Job! This is looking great so far. I like the idea. Later-
  11. The seal of approval. It was your post that got me to look at it and ponder chopping it. So.....It's your fault! Later-
  12. Rob- Thanks for the tip. I thought about doing that with some piano wire have. I may end up doing that if it breaks on me in the future.....which I'm sure it will. Tonight I'm going to spend some time working on a couple other projects and let this one sit till my next session. Later-
  13. Beautiful work so far. I'll be watching. Later-
  14. WOW! thanks for all of the positive comments guys. Glad to see that you guys like the build. I think that the roof line looks better myself now. It's going to be a pain to keep it from continually snapping from here on out. I didn't lower it too much. I cut the roof at the top and bottom of the A pillars and laid them back a bit. Then, because the roof had previously snapped at both C pillars I used that to my advantage. I re-broke the C pillars and took almost 3/32 of length out of the allowing the whole roof to move back. Then I re-glued it all with a bit of styrene strips for support. Here it is before: And here it is now: Not too drastic, but hopefully enough difference. I just realized that I should have measured up from the top of the door to the top corner of the A pillar before I cut it to see how much of a drop I made. It doesn't look much different to me, but I know it is. A little measurement confirmation would have helped. Just need to clean it all up and hope that it stays. Comments/ Criticisms welcomed. Later-
  15. Well, I got the top chopped a bit and I do think once it's all cleaned up it'll look much better. Maybe I'll get some pics up tomorrow after it dries and I clean it up. Later-
  16. No turning back now. Never let it be said that I don't cave to a little peer pressure. Later-
  17. Here is the stance that I am shooting for. Hope you enjoy it. Any comments or criticisms always welcomed. Now back to work to get the front suspension attached. Later-
  18. Back to work on this one tonight and, like always, not making fast progress. Here's the basic interior (06 Mustang) with a bit of tweeking. I've got the edge of the dash near the windshield shaved a bit to allow the tub to snug up. I may have to do a bit more work in this area. I also raised the tunnel and filled in the tulip panel and speakers in the doors in prep for some P.E. Speaker grilles. The interior has been giving me fits trying to get it to sit right. I think I finally have it sitting where I want it. The problem with this is that my front suspension is actually going to attach to the bucket or to the firewall since I don't actually have clearance for a full frame. I'm going to do up a chassis plate to cover the bottom center section. Here are shots of the interior fit. More in next post. Later-
  19. I have a chance to pick up a sealed one of these kits. Has anyone built one? How did it turn out? Got any photos? Just looking for any info anyone has on it. I've looked it up on line but haven't found out much on them. Later-
  20. Chris- Nice haul. I see a few I'd like to get ahlod of there. The Black 65 Vette, 70 GTX, the silver car w/red interior in the front of the first pic, and the 56 Nomad, red 70's Chevy pickup w/black hood and the silver 72 Chevy stepside. Oh, and is that a white Dodge pickup in the first pic???? Later-
  21. No, but it's one that I've had a deep seated desire to build for years. Something about the color and the stripes withthe blocked out headlights.....of course the first one I saw years ago had Moon Eye decals on the headlight covers. Later-
  22. Great work! And the wheel choice fits this style perfectly. That MM Platinum is what I used on my 70 1/2 Camaro but I went with a shade darker red. Beautiful combo. Later-
  23. I love everything about this build. Excellent job and color choice. Nice wheels too. Your photos really add to the presentation. Later-
  24. Beautiful work and paintjob. That interior is spotless. Nice job. Later-
  25. Kirt- It's looking good so far, as are the projects in the background (Love that crew cab dually), but you have to change those spark plug wires. If you are like me you'll always wish you had. Later-
