History of Monogram's Ford Pickups 1980-1991
Jordan White replied to Fabrux's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
No, the Monogram (now Revell) Bronco and Ramcharger always had 6-lug, 5-spoke wheels. The Bronco also had 5-lug, 8-spoke wheels that it shared with the F-150 Ranger kit. I forgot they were in the Jimmy kit though, so I'm sure that's where they originated since that would be the logical application for them! -
Revell Lincoln LSC Pro Street reissue

I’m torn, the later Mark VII special edition with the body colored bumpers looked wicked, and yet the Mark VIII was just so sleek and classy. Not sure which new tool I would like better! -

Ah my old nemesis pairing, 6-lug wheels for a 5-lug truck and blank sidewall Tracker A-Ts! -
Revell Lincoln LSC Pro Street reissue

I did see someone on here make a stock version using the Revell 1992 Cougar kit and a Fox Body Mustang kit. -
If they are unable to include the 454 engine, they should just give it the 350 from the monster truck kit and give it Sport or 350 SS decals (and the 454 decals for those who want them).

I was just saying they need to bring back the bass boat kit! Looks like it’s the dual windshield version which originally came with the Ramcharger. Glad to see the Bronco back again as well. -
Too bad he didn't get a pic of the front end. I can't tell if the mirrors are the same as in the original kit, but the tires do seem to look more proportional than the original Goodyears. Agreed!

Lindberg F-150 Flareside 4x4
Jordan White replied to Smoke Wagon's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
The wheels on the Lindberg kit are correct for a 4x4 with the off-road package, otherwise it would have the wheels from the AMT snap kit. Edit: I cracked open this kit as my next project and I do admire their multi-part approach for a lot of parts to eliminate open voids as well as to give more detail. A couple negatives I found though are they don't have separate differential covers, so there is a seam through them, and the door panels are molded to the interior tub which means minimal detail there (they do have separate grab handles though which helps a bit). -
Question about Dupli-Color
Jordan White replied to El Roberto's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
x2, I always clearcoat mine too since if there is any hazing, it eliminates it. On a slightly separate note, with how high the prices are getting on the Duplicolor paint nowadays, it is now getting more cost effective to get the larger cans from a site like automotivetouchup.com, especially since their paint lays on perfectly every time for me and it doesn't get as much, or any, hazing compared to Duplicolor. -
Anyone Have A History On Otaki Kits?

Here's my old thread about the 1/12 car kits. Some of the pics aren't showing up anymore, but the info is still usable! -
Go to the very bottom of page and click on "theme", what is yours set to?

Scratch build wheels & tires?
Jordan White replied to youngtiger1's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I find that depending on the product, contacting the person/company that has a similar product is a good place to start since most of the time, they are willing to give it a go to get a sale vs you going elsewhere. It looks like your standard super glue will work for bonding rubber together. You may want to test it on some of the scrap pieces first to make sure it will hold correctly. -
You could see if these guys have any decals that would work for you, looks like they have numbers in various styles and colors. http://www.newcenturyhobbies.com/NASCAR_Model_Car_Decals_s/226.htm

Olson Bros. resin parts - update on Chris
Jordan White replied to gui_tarzan's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Hope that he heals well! I know from personal experience the pain of dropping something heavy and breaking your toe! I agree that a quick update on the site would help with most of the grumbling, people are more accepting of delays if they know why there is a delay, rather than just hearing silence. I have purchased parts from him in the past and they are very well done, and would like to see him be able to continue expanding his shop once he is able to focus on it again! -

Are you able to say whether there are going to be optional parts in this release? -
Lindberg F-150 Flareside 4x4
Jordan White replied to Smoke Wagon's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Now that you mention it, it does really stand out! The truck on the box appears to be a 4x4, and the 4x4 XLT had the body color grille that's in the Lindberg kit, so it makes sense why they changed it. It is weird how they (and AMT/Ertl for that matter) just didn't care enough to find a picture of the real vehicle actually represented in the kit! -

Lindberg F-150 Flareside 4x4
Jordan White replied to Smoke Wagon's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Yeah I said they are 2WD. What I did find is the 17" wheels came with the off-road package, as well as on the 2WD STX package ('98 and '99). It's possible they were available on the regular 2WD XLT and Lariat models, but I can't say for sure. Based on the current box art for the ext cab kit, it shows the 5.4 decal on the air intake. Granted they both look similar, so you could really build it as a 4.6 or 5.4. -

My brief kit breakdown for reference (all represent 1997-1998 models, with the exception of the Lightning): Revell kits: 1999 Lightning - Only Revell kit with the regular cab/flareside combo. Naturally everything else is pretty much Lightning specific (can use grille to make the painted/mesh grille version, but would need to modify to fit 1997/98 bumper, or modify the standard bumper to make a 1999+ model). Supercharged 5.4L V8, 4-speed automatic. 2000 Harley Davidson Edition - Similar to Lightning kit but with the extended cab, stepside box combo. XLT Standard cab - Regular cab, long box. Shares the chassis with the extended cab kit. XLT 2WD model, has the chrome cross-bar grille which is used on all Standard (gray), XL and 2WD XLT trims. Also has the 17" aluminum wheels (optional on XLT and Lariat, also comes with the off-road package). 5.4L V8, 4-speed automatic. XLT Ext. cab - Extended cab, flareside box. XLT 2WD model, same grille and wheels as the standard cab kit. 5.4L V8, 4-speed automatic. AMT kit: Styleside - shows a long bed on the box, comes with a wideside short bed (still regular cab). XLT 2WD model. Same cross bar grille as the Revell kits, but has the 16" polished aluminum 5-spoke wheels (box shows incorrect steel wheels). 4.6L V8, 4-speed automatic. Ext cab Snapfast - Extended cab, wideside shortbed box. XLT 4WD model, can make as a Lariat too. Painted mesh grille, and split 3-spoke 16" wheels (standard Lariat, optional XLT). Lindberg Kit: Flareside 4x4 - Regular cab, flareside bed. XLT 4WD model, can also represent the Lariat 4WD. Painted mesh grille and 17" aluminum wheels. This body also has the correct wheel arch moldings featured on the 4x4 models, and all Lariat models. 4.6L V8, 5-speed manual, transfer case. The only issue is you will need the decal sheet from the off road version for the correct 4x4 bed decals. -
Lindberg F-150 Flareside 4x4
Jordan White replied to Smoke Wagon's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Round2 owns both brands, not surprised they would rebrand it as AMT since it's the more well known of the two (and yes I'm aware AMT made a version too). Hope it's actually true, it's a well detailed kit and comes with the 5-speed/4x4 combo unlike Revell and AMT which have Auto/2WD setups. Question is though if the stock version is the one they would re-release, since the last couple times have been the modified off-road version. -

What would YOU like to see as a model
Jordan White replied to JeroenM3's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I guess this post is a bit more generic, but I would like to see more new-subject 1/16 scale kits. I know I have brought up 1/12 kits before, but knowing how much space they take up, and how popular 1/18 scale diecasts are, it seems like 1/16 scale kits would be a good middle ground (not to mention the price is a bit easier to swallow nowadays). I suppose if I were to choose a subject, I think the current Mustang GT500 would be a great choice.
