That would be nice, since it seems like the Camaro kit is so much harder to find over the firebird kit!
-
I am actually surprised to see them bring back the 1/16 scale kit!
-
So from Scalemates, it appears in 2007 they rereleased both the stock version and the custom version (in its current iteration) and it has been custom since. However, the original custom version with the weird grille came out around 1999, so both stock and custom have existed at the same time. However you might be right where since the late 2000s, the molds for certain stock parts have gone missing.

I’m curious if they mean decal schemes as in factory and non-factory decals, or just as in the factory color options.- 129 replies

Fireball Modelworks, I’m not 100% sure if he is taking orders again, but you can email him to find out if you find something you like. -

Any images of the decal sheet yet? Wonder if they will have multiple colors for the bird on the hood?- 129 replies

Back on topic, I wonder if the Charger kit will offer any extra items. Looking at the brochure, there are a couple different wheel options that are available for the R/T, would be cool to provide 1 or 2 alternate wheel choices.
-
See I think it’s weird that they haven’t rereleased any of the 1/12 kits lately, and instead went straight to the 1/8 kit.
-
Looks like release date is sometime in June, and the price will probably be around $180 from what I'm seeing so far. Would be nice to pick up but I'm not sure my wife would let me spend that much on a kit. ?

How do YOU decide what to build next?

I do have a list of all my future builds, however what I build next is just a matter of looking through the list and seeing what catches my eye. -
Revell 1971 Boss 351 Mustang

Had to have been an AMT or Testors kit, I’m seeing sites saying not released yet, and I don’t see anything resembling box art. -
Amber lights, 3 different techniques.
Jordan White replied to Bills72sj's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
For Sharpies, I find you need to generally do a few coats for it to cover properly (make sure to let it dry between coats so the next coat doesn't wipe off the previous one). For amber, I find a base coat of yellow helps give it more of an amber look rather than just orange when you add the final orange coat. -
Cutting styrene tubing
Jordan White replied to Jordan White's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks for the tips so far, didn't think of using the end of the box to help square it off! I am using the saw that came with the miter box, but I think it must have too low of a tooth count and is making the cutting tough. I will look into getting a higher tooth count saw and hopefully that will help! -
Are there any tips to cutting styrene tubing straight, short of getting that desktop electric miter saw? I have the (Xacto?) miter box, and I am having a hard time keeping the tubes in place while I cut, leaving an angled edge that I have to try to square up with my Xacto knife.

Revell 1971 Boss 351 Mustang

I’m curious what extra parts, if any, they will offer in this kit. It would be cool if they went the route of offering both manual and auto trans options, with both shifters and pedal assemblies. I feel like it would be only a few extra parts, and yet would allow for more build options out of the box. Plus it could carry through to future kits without having to retool. -
Sure they may be going away soon, but they are still selling really well right now and so would make a good model kit to sell.
-
That actually is the base R/T front fascia. This front fascia is also used on the GT and Scat Pack models. It's awesome to see a major company finally coming out with a new (model year) subject. I would have liked it to be a Hellcat or widebody version, but this is a start for those who don't want that, and they can release the other versions in the future. It will be interesting to see how detailed the kit actually is, and if they do include any optional parts in the kit.

1/16 Revell Chevy Off-Road Pickup with Suzuki Dirtbike
Jordan White replied to Casey's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
That's the version of the kit I have. Luckily I was able to trade most of the custom parts for the stock parts and the brush guard/rollbar from the earlier version. -
I've said it before, but I am certainly surprised that there has not yet been a full detail kit of the current F-150. It is one of the most popular vehicles in the US, and there are so many versions they could make out of one initial tooling. I have seen a good amount of the snap kit F-150 Raptor kits built already, and so I honestly think a full detail kit would be a big hit, especially since the older crowd would be more likely to have a newer F-150 that they would want to make a model of. As for the Silverado kit, I would like them to re-release the stock kit as well. It also seems like it wouldn't be too much work for them to modify it as a GMC for further sales. At minimum, it would just be the grille/bumper piece, front end lights, wheels, and decals.
-
They will probably just call it a Firebird like AMT did for their 1/16 kit re-release, if that indeed is the case.
-
Overpriced, perhaps. Not done very well, disagree. I bought all three kits at their respective releases and while the prices were on the higher end for a 1/24 passenger vehicle kit, I would say overall that the price matched the content quality. I know that Meng had some discrepancies with the actual vehicles they were based on, but nothing that couldn't be easily corrected. I just wish they had continued making kits in this product line, since they were making kits that no one else had made yet.
