bolt pattern question
Jordan White replied to jeffdeoranut's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yeah I agree on posting pics, no mention of 8x6.25" anywhere. I doubt the military would have used an oddball bolt pattern, so my guess is some sort of custom application that someone else got ahold of and had adapters made for it. -
The Firebird GTA tires will be wrong since they are for 16" wheels. Your best bet would be to find a set of tires from any of the 1/16 2nd Gen Firebirds since they will be for 15" wheels and should be close to what they would have used for the DOH car.

eBay screw-up
Jordan White replied to Rocking Rodney Rat's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I can't tell from the picture, but what sort of paper is it? Is it just like your standard printer paper, or could it be decal paper that hasn't had the coating applied to it to make the decals? -
eBay screw-up
Jordan White replied to Rocking Rodney Rat's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Got a picture of what you received? I'm looking at the listing and it looks legit. Does it look exactly like the listing and look like it wasn't tampered with in any way? Could be an error on Round 2's part. -
Seeing all the other Bronco builds here made me want to pull mine out and get started on it! I plan on making mine a 1975 in the style of a 90's full restoration. I will give it a small body lift, aftermarket wheels and tires, custom bumpers, and the engine and transmission from the AMT 90's F150 kit. Body has been cut for a set of Joseph's wheel flares. SAM_0271 by mudder_trucker8 Chassis assembled and painted gloss black to contrast against the body (floorpan will be painted body color) SAM_0270 by mudder_trucker8 Engine and transmission painted with intake manifold attached SAM_0273 by mudder_trucker8 Wheels and tires. Wheels are from the Fujimi Suzuki Jimny kit, and the tires are also from Joseph. SAM_0272 by mudder_trucker8

Rough Google translation for those curious: Edit: Fun fact, when built, the kit will be less than 10" long, 4,5" wide, and 4.5" high! -
1/16 Pontiac Firebird's Let's See 'em...

I have one of the Turbo Blackbird kits waiting to be built, but I don't have any pics to share here yet. -
Do a Google search for Sketchup Make 2014. It's a free program that you can make 3d models with, and there are numerous tutorials on how to use it. You would have to search how to convert their file to an STL file to upload to the printer.
-
You have to use a 3D modeling program to design the solid part which is then uploaded to the printer/printing service.
-
I have made things to be 3d printed, the wheels for this project are one thing I've had done. I don't have a printer myself though and use Shapeways for my printing.

I filled in the frame a bit and smoothed it out. Here's how the engine fits in the chassis. Luckily Monogram made it so the small block and big blocks fit in the same chassis. SAM_0263 by mudder_trucker8 SAM_0267 by mudder_trucker8 SAM_0268 by mudder_trucker8

If you would like, I have the tripower intake and carbs, along with the aftermarket big block valve covers that I would be willing to give you.
-
Quick update. Got some of the engine painted and assembled. Here are the headers, they are the small block headers modified into big block headers. I still need to putty and sand them, as well as add the mounting flanges. SAM_0255 by mudder_trucker8 Here are the modified valve covers, to correct the incorrect bolt pattern. I have a little more sanding to do to get them ready for chrome. SAM_0258 by mudder_trucker8 Finally, here's the engine so far. Corvette 427 big block, painted Chevy Engine Orange. I modified the water pump to more closely resemble the long nose 1969 style rather than the short nose 1967 style. I also had to extend the crankshaft pulley to match the water pump. 1995 GMC Sierra

Looking good so far! If that grille is from the Diecast I'm thinking of, it's good to know that it fits the AMT body well. -
Thanks, it works great!
-
Sure! Could be useful for some of the smaller details.
-
You should be able to modify the kit taillights, it looks like just remove the vertical bars between the 3 sections and add one that goes horizontally down the middle.
-
Yup, I plan on changing out all the emblems, but am going to stick with the standard grille since I seem to prefer the open headlight look over the RS grille.
-
I believe it has the keys, but it's been a while since I've looked inside. As for price paid, I honestly don't remember, and ebay's purchase history only goes back 2 years for me.
-
It's the one molded in black. The display table would be nice, though maybe once I can get my own hobby room!
-
They are indeed for the headrests. As for the 1/8 IROC, I did in fact get one a while back. I plan on building it eventually, but not until I have a place where I have room to keep it once it's built.

Quick update, I hope to have this back on the workbench soon! Here are the decals in their current stage, they were drawn up in Autocad and will be printed on white decal paper. Stripes2 by mudder_trucker8, on Flickr
