  1. When I was looking at built examples of the Revell Bass Boat the other day, I was wondering why there weren't more modern pleasure boat kits? I think the most recent was the jetski found with the custom Silverado kit, and it was a nicely detailed piece (the trailer on the other hand left something to be desired!) They don't even need to go with the larger cabin cruisers either, there are plenty of smaller boats that would only need maybe 50 parts (including trailer) max, many less than that. Plus, like the car kits, if they are desperate they can easily re-release the kits with new decals and maybe a few different parts/accessories.
  2. I'm the same way in that all my pictures are on my hard drive, and I only used the site to host pictures to post online. However, there are always situations that may arrise where people need to host pictures that they don't have easy access to elsewhere. In any case, the pricing structure (along with what is allowed at each "level") is ludicrous. Coupled with their increasing reliance on crappy ads, I see no need to stay.
  3. I like what I'm seeing so far!
  4. Thanks! Didn't show everything, but certainly a good selection!
  5. Dang! I didn't get to go this year due to other plans that weekend and was hoping someone would have pics so I could see what I missed!
  6. Anyone get any pictures from the NNL North show a couple weeks ago?
  7. Wish I had known about this last summer when I gave away a bunch of my diecasts on Craigslist, including this one (out of box though) since I figured I wouldn't get any good money for them.
  8. Fireball Modelworks is selling the flares, I purchased a set and they are nicely cast.
  9. Very nice! The weathering is amazing! I'm hoping to pick up the paint tomorrow so I can get the body painted on mine!
  10. Very nice, as usual! Is there any chance you could assemble your entire fleet for a picture?
  11. It could have been a good option back when it was released, but as of now the newest model is 10 years old, and I don't think they would create a kit of a 10 year old econocar when they make only a handful of new kits a year. The only version I could potentially see even being considered would be the 2006-2007 V8 SS.
  12. That turned out very nice! It looks like the real thing! Amazing how it still looks tiny next to the real car!
  13. I like that technique, it looks great! I don't have any pictures at the moment, but last night I did some more work on my build with getting the interior tub pieced together. Essentially, I used the majority of the Revell interior for the front seat area, and the seat-area back from the AMT interior for the rear portion. For the seats though, I'm using the AMT seat for the front seat since it's more detailed and slightly larger, while the Revell seat will be used for the back seat since the cushion is shorter.
  14. The easiest way would be to use pieces from another bed, and reinforce the sidewalls from the back side. You will need to add approximately 9/16" ahead of the rear wheels, and 1/4" behind the rear wheels.
  15. My build is slow going, I need to paint the chassis so I can get some progress going!
  16. Perhaps Joseph's Goodyear Suburbanite tires would be a good match.
  17. I just completed this pair of builds that are meant to represent a 1992 Toyota Land Cruiser and Hilux from Pakistan. I used the Aoshima Hilux and Tamiya Land Cruiser, and built them box stock.
  18. Of course, too few parts gives us the "melted" brake booster/master cylinder, battery, and heater core housing, which also goes back to the "too much detail in one area, not enough in another" dilemma.
  19. 48 pieces does seem a bit much for a kit smaller than 1/12 scale, so that is certainly a case of too many parts. However, on the other end, some kits (namely older ones) have too few parts, electing to combine parts together (such as heads and intake manifold). It does seem like a balancing act to have enough parts for detail's sake, but not too many to where the builder is overwhelmed by numerous little pieces or bad fitment that throws off a bunch of other parts. On the other hand though, it seems that many of the larger scale kits seem to not have enough parts. Most of the Japanese large scale kits have plenty of parts and detail to create a convincing kit (Tamiya and Doyusha/Otaki come to mind), while the American kits seem to be not much more than scaled up 1/24 or 1/25 kits. Sure they don't need to go all out with working suspensions and turning steering wheels, but at least have poseable steering and enough parts to fill out an engine bay properly.
  20. Hopefully I can get some more pics up soon! I have been working on getting the body painted, as well as getting the chassis buttoned up in preparation for paint.
  21. Boy would it be nice if Revell would come out with some 1/16 Tri-Five kits of their own, especially new tools that have well fitting parts and no metal axles (at least not in the front). I know that they've talked about not doing much more in the way of 1/12 kits, but 1/16 are not much larger than the 1/18 scale diecasts that people love, and they still allow for plenty of detailing over the smaller kits. Those would honestly be the only Tri-Five kits that I wouldn't complain about being new tools!
  22. This is a 1/16 scale kit, though Revell has the 1/16 Camaro and Trans Am kits which have good engines.
  23. Do these wheels happen to fit in the BFG Radial T/A tires at all?
  24. Embossing or imprinting would be smart, except if it's noticeable enough and the caster isn't dumb, they will simply fill the imprint with putty before casting (or sand it in the case of raised text).
