  1. I'm definitely in this year! Edit: changed my mind, gonna do a Revell 1991 S10 with a V8 swap. The kit was already started, but I'm going to take it apart and start from scratch.
  2. So has a theme been determined for the 2017 build?
  3. Makes sense, I just figured this would help people determine what year this mostly represents, and how it could be modified to be older or newer.
  4. Actually according to Wikipedia, they are considered the same generation, they just have slightly different styling and different engines.
  5. I received this kit for Christmas, and just sat down to compare it to year-by-year changes that I found. Here's my results: 1) Engine appears to represent the GM 6.5 non-turbo diesel (no parts appear to represent a turbo). This engine was available from 1994 until 1998, though the 10 blade fan indicates 1996-1998. 2) Transmission appears to mostly resemble the 4l80E based on slanted pan and round indent, though the cut-out does slightly resemble the TH400. 3) The body itself is fairly standard across the years, but the ambulance doors indicate 1995 and up, while the vents aft of the rear-side windows were on 1997 or newer models. 4) The wheels are meant to resemble the two-piece runflat wheels with central tire inflation, which were offered on 1995 and older models, newer models had one-piece steel wheels (and later aluminum). 5) The interior (or at least the dash) resembles the 1996 and up interior based on the gauges, HVAC controls, and cupholder area. Based on the above, it would seem that this is a 1997 or 1998 model, non-turbo diesel, wagon with older style two-piece wheels.
  6. Cool! How does it compare to the Fujimi kit?
  7. I chose the Cherokee since I do love the looks of the 80's models (2 door rather than the 4 door however), and the only way you could potentially complete it is by using parts from the Tamiya Grand Cherokee and Wrangler kits, though that would be expensive.
  8. Yeah, I'm not sure what Revell/Monogram was thinking when they designed the trailer, it's just a flat diamondplate-style deck with some "rails" that support the boat. I scratchbuilt a trailer for my last one I built, and will build ones for the other two I have. This build does look awesome, even with the minor scale differences!
  9. This will be the main thread to post in, but you may also post a build thread in the on-the-workbench section!
  10. Any build style, from stock to wild!
  11. I think I would consider them more a car with a pickup bed, and am thinking this build would be more pickups with full separate frames.
  12. Haha I know that thread for 2 reasons, I found it while searching for similar threads, and I also was a part of it (though I stopped my build and used the kits in other ways). I do plan on starting a fresh build though, mainly for consistency. Edit: For those who have already replied, please post again with what you will be starting with so I can post them in the first post.
  13. Yup! I figure anything 1 ton or smaller will fit.
  14. To be fair, everytime you go into a thread it counts as a view, so it could be the same 16 people going in and out for all we know.
  15. No problems there! Basically its a group of people who are building kits "together" under a common theme. Most of the time there's a specified time frame to complete them, though some choose to have an unlimited time frame.
  16. Sure, as long as they're less than 20% complete you'll be fine!
  17. Since it seems like there's some interest, I shall layout this community build. The basics are any pickup truck or chassis-cab commercial vehicle 1-ton or smaller. Kits may be new, a rebuild, or a combo. Must however be less than 20% complete at the start. Try to post at least one update by the end of each month, though I won't kick you out if you don't. Build will run from January 1st to November 30th. I will post names and what each is building here. 18. I know Lindberg made a 1/20 1st Gen Explorer that would be nice to see in 1/25 scale.
  19. I do like that they are trying to do more one-piece wheels now, but this is certainly annoying. Aoshima, Fujimi, and Tamiya figured it out ages ago that a single wheel that slides in the back is the best, since it is see-through (no wheel backs), easy to put in tires that have a slightly smaller opening, and means you don't have to bother with finding wheel backs that fit when using extra wheels from kit on another.
  20. Interiors for both are completed, and the undercarriage now shows what the body colors will look like.
  21. I vote for the unlimited build, allows for a larger range of vehicle types and styles to be entered.
  22. Tonight I completed the chassis for the Land Cruiser. When I get back from Thanksgiving vacation, I'll be able to start on the interiors!
  23. I would go with Tamiya TS-23 Light Blue. From pictures, it appears to be very close to Grabber Blue.
  24. If anyone watches Wheeler Dealers, the last episode was a first gen Bronco that they practically rebuilt.
  25. Other than the shocks which are still drying, the chassis for the Hilux is finished.
