  1. Check around, it is usually listed as being for lexan RC bodies, but will work on plastic and styrene models. Hobbylinc sells it for 12 bucks for a 3oz can, but it has lasted me for quite a while since you don't use much at a time.
  2. It's the AMT '84 GMC kit, which had a blue truck on the box in it's most recent iteration. However, before you go looking for a kit on ebay, know that the kit is going to be rereleased in the near future!
  3. This build will be a 1991 S10, using the Monogram kit. And yes, as the title states, it will be a turbo. However, it's not going to be any sort of super high-performance engine build, but rather a mildly hopped up version of the stock 4.3 V6. I will be using the kit engine, the manual transmission from the AMT Chevy C1500 kit, and the turbo setup from the Revell 3n1 '78 El Camino kit. As for the exterior, I will be using the Goodyear tires from the AMT 90's Trans Am, the custom wheels from the AMT F-150, the stock grille, and the custom bumper and chin spoiler. Color is still up in the air at this point, but it will be a brighter color since this build will be in the spirit of the 90's sport mini-trucks. Here's roughly how it will sit:
  4. The wheel openings do appear to lack a bit of their "flared" look, but it's hard to tell in the low res pic without paint. There's also the matter of the rockers and rear lower fenders, which appear to possibly angle in too sharply.
  5. Great job! I agree that this kit, while nice to have for the '81-'87 sheetmetal, is pretty poor in some areas. Another thing to mention is the wheels and tires, which if I had to guess came from one of the 1/20 kits, since they seem much bigger than 15-16" wheels.
  6. Meh, certainly better than people who make topic titles that have no indication of what is inside the thread.
  7. Is there a pic that shows the correct Lightning Rod shifters?
  8. Good to see they're bringing back the Ford 350 again! Also really looking forward to the Olds.
  9. Can't say for sure, but my kit has a copyright date of 1978.
  10. After looking at Revells version of the 1/16 pickup, I'm curious how this version would have compared if it were made.
  11. While working on this kit again, I noticed an error on the rear axle. Basically, the rear part of the differential housing (with the cover) is offset to one side, rather than centered like it should be. I was thinking that I had assembled it backwards, but then figured nothing else would line up correctly. I'm not going to bother fixing it on this build, but I probably will on the next one. I'm also about 95% positive that the plates that the u-bolts attach to are supposed to be on the leaf spring side, not under the axle. Edit: after doing some research, it appears that the Dana 80 used in the 350 Dually trucks had the u-bolts loop over the springs, like in the kit. The Sterling 10.5" used in the 350 SRW trucks had the u-bolts loop around the axle. This means that either Meng simply used a F-350 DRW axle in their research, or there is a dually version in the works and they decided to share parts. Granted, with the few other errors, it could just be oversight.
  12. So I'm guessing it's about on par with the 1/16 Beetle kit? I have that one and there are some parts that are lacking in detail in relation to the scale of the kit (engine is a big one).
  13. If you could sell the parts, you could even make 10 times the kit price, based on one seller I always see. They have 1/16 scale parts (for the Chevy pickup specifically) going for on average around $40-50 for a part or small selection of parts. I was looking to get some that didn't come in my edition of the kit, and to get the parts would have cost me triple or quadruple what I paid for the kit!
  14. I do like the Outback choice as well, with European as my second choice.
  15. I would like to know if this is possible, I voted the same way as last year, and didn't read the post until after voting.
  16. Personally, I would not pay $14 for a set of tires (especially without wheels) that have no sidewall detail and brand names. I could get very nice Aoshima and Fujimi wheel/Tire sets with disc brakes for about that or less from various sources.
  17. There's a site, grabcad.com, where people can post their files, like your idea, and people can use them for free. All we would need to do is make an account there (when I say we, I mean each person), and post the files with a certain tag or tags that would show that they are for scale models and from MCM members.
  18. Alright, I've decided to get this project back on the bench! I did eventually receive the intake manifold parts from Shapeways, and had to modify the block and heads for it to fit. I also found out that the valve covers from the Camaro kit are exactly the same ones that are found on the '78 Corvette. Finally, here's the actual wheel fitted into the kit tire.
  19. Quick update, got the body painted. Just have to wet sand and then I can put on the clearcoat. As for the badging, I'm probably just going to make decals for them.
  20. Vince is a great trader as well! Would certainly deal with him again!
  21. For those who mention paint on the interior, perhaps I could have done more. This was a quick, simple build though, so I figured a gray vinyl interior would work fine for the Jimny's simplistic nature. Of course, I did skip painting some of the interior body color where the exposed metal would be.
  22. Love it! Even though they were curbside, Aoshima did an excellent job with their SUV kits and it shows here.
  23. Just got one of the Monogram Grand National kits in a trade, and decided to turn it into a Regal T-Type. I know that a few others have made Regals with the kit, but other than maybe a couple, most have been made into donks or lowriders. I'm planning on building the kit essentially box stock, with only a different set of wheels and some underhood detailling. The wheels I'm using are 17" Lambo Diablo style wheels from Fujimi, and I'll be chroming the bumpers and painting the body in a gold metallic. It will also have the blackout trim package, and the camel interior (tan). Here's how the stance will be:
  24. The only major visual difference over the years was the grille, so if you scratch build a grille for it, you can easily pass it off as a '71 or '72.
  25. Likewise, had a great trade with BISMARCK! No issues at all.
