I hope to get started tonight a bit. And yes, I figured there may be some other ideas when I posted the title! Oh, and I also changed my mind on the color of the Land Cruiser, I'm going to go with a medium blue metallic based on a real vehicle I found in my idea search. The Hilux will look pretty close to the box art (including the stripes), and the Land Cruiser will look something like this:
-
This dual build will feature an Aoshima Hilux Double Cab kit and a Tamiya Land Cruiser 80, and they will be built to represent 1992 models that were sold in Pakistan. Why Pakistan? Well, I found an auto sales site from there while doing picture research and liked what I saw. They seem to love customizing their vehicles, especially Toyotas. I will be building these kits fairly box stock, with only a few exterior parts from my spares. The Hilux will be a medium red metallic SSR-X model, and the Land Cruiser will be a beige/dark gray two-tone VX Limited model. Here's what I'm starting with:
-
That looks great! This kit isn't normally built as the Foose version, but it does look nice when done up like the box art!
-
I'll be keeping an eye on this build, since I'm excited to see what you do with it!
-
Yup, unfortunately they decided to make the stock tires as pizza cutters. They did at least give a nice set of aftermarket wider radials with the older kits.
-
Yup, there's been a couple threads about it in this forum already. I'm hoping to pick up one this winter since I've always wanted a full detail kit.

It's the fuel injected 460 V8.

Revell 1966-'77 Ford Bronco
Jordan White replied to Luc Janssens's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Check the instructions at the step where the air cleaner is added, they show two configurations and specifically call out one as for a '71 and one for a '73. -
Perhaps, but it would be more preferable to have it be a 4WD since you could use parts from the '64/'65 pickups to make it a 2WD, and vice versa.

Revell 1966-'77 Ford Bronco
Jordan White replied to Luc Janssens's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Hopefully Revell either releases a version in the future with the wheel flares (and a template for cutting the rear fenders), or a resincaster creates some to sell. I would love to be able to build a stock version with intact rear fenders, and an off-road version with the full openings. -
Was Custom a trim level on those Suburbans? I hope that they offer it with a 4WD setup!

Revell 1966-'77 Ford Bronco
Jordan White replied to Luc Janssens's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Sweet! A bit bummed by the lack of poseable front wheels, but otherwise I do like the amount of detail in the kit. Two things I noticed: 1) At the end, they credit Jeff's Bronco Graveyard for their help on the project, not sure if they've done something like that in the past 2) The kit is meant to resemble either a 1971 or 1973 Bronco, based on the aircleaner part of the assembly. -

Ford Bronco and Ranger Are Coming Back!
Jordan White replied to afx's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
They do offer regular and extended cab versions as well, the former available with a long bed. As par for the course, the stylish wheels are on the higher trim levels. Lower models have steel wheels or smaller diameter alloys. -
Now Playing! "The Van," 1977
Jordan White replied to Mike999's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I found that DVD on a rack in the grocery store of all places, and figured it would be a good watch for a few bucks. It isn't a bad movie, just more of a product of its time. I do enjoy seeing the vans though, and do like the look of the Straight Arrow. -
Ford Bronco and Ranger Are Coming Back!
Jordan White replied to afx's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Assuming that the Bronco will be based on the Ranger platform, then consensus is saying that they will most likely be building a version of the Ford Everest. Of course, they could very well be creating something different, though I have doubts about a 2-door model resurfacing. -
B.R.B.O. Finished Builds
Jordan White replied to Jordan White's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I just figured it would be fun to see them together. If people would prefer to just post separate threads, by all means. -
Even though I dropped out of this build due to lack of time, I would still like to see what people have completed since I have been following along with some of them. I also feel that the original thread should have stayed, but that is all I'm saying on that matter. Anyways, repost (or post if you haven't already) your completed builds for the Big Rig Build Off!

Find of a lifetime?
Jordan White replied to wrecker388's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My "find of a lifetime" was a NIB 1/12 scale Doyusha Mercedes SLC AMG at a hobby shop in MN (Scale Model Supplies) for only $75. They're going for over double that on Ebay. Of course, this was back when I only knew about the Revell 1/12 kits, which is why it was so exciting. -
Here's the kit box for a view from the front: I don't currently have a pic of the parts from my kit, but they are pretty close to the real thing and come in 8 pieces (2 halves for each beam, 2 radius arms, springs/shocks).
-
Curious what your reasoning is for making it in 1/6 scale? That will be nearly 3 feet long!

Sweet! How did I not know about this? I've always wanted a full detail H1 kit. Based on the transmission pan, it appears to be the 3-speed 3L80 offered only in 1992 and 1993, so it is the non-turbo 6.2 Diesel. If you were to modify the engine to look like the 6.5 non-turbo, and the transmission to look like the 4L80E, then you could make any H1 up to 1998. If you were adventurous, you could add a turbo system to make the 6.5 Turbo-diesel. If you wanted to be different/weird, you could even drop in a 5.7 gas V8 which was offered in 1995 and 1996. Edit: the only thing tripping me up is from my research, the wagon only offered the tailgate at the rear until 1995, which was the first year for the "ambulance doors".
