Well I finally got the kit in the mail today, so I should be able to start on it this weekend.
-
So did Revell show anything about the 1/12 '69 Camaro or did they just show the same picture that we've seen already?

For this build, I'll be using the Tamiya Jeep Grand Cherokee kit (which is kitted as the 5.2 Limited model), and converting it into the special edition '98 5.9 Limited. As you can see, it has 5-spoke wheels versus the multi-spoke wheels that come with the kit. In order to replicate these, I'm using the set of wheels from the Tamiya Wrangler kit, cutting out the spokes, and inserting the wheel front from the AMT '97 Trans Am kit. The only obvious visual difference is the wheel center is convex, compared to the concave center of the actual wheel, though from a distance this isn't an issue.

It looks like if you raise the beltline along the top of the door and rear quarter under the window, it would line up with the hood and rear fender like the picture.

Yeah I should be starting soon too, mine is coming from Japan.
-
Agree! I'm curious to see whether its any different.

I think i'm going to change up the kit I'm building. Instead of the C1500, I'm going to be building the Aoshima Nissan Terrano (Pathfinder) into a 3-door soft-top concept that would have been built to compete with the Isuzu Amigo and Jeep Wrangler.

Me too, its a great kit to build!

I've decided my build will be the AMT Chevy C1500 flareside.
-
I agree that it would be better to go till the end of January.
-
Ah ok. I'll join, I just have to figure out what I'd like to build.
-
Could be interesting, are you planning on creating categories?
-
They can, but you don't see the underhood pad much anymore. And if you look on the underside of the cover, it's not just plastic. There's insulation material there as well. If you think about it, it's much quicker to stick a cover over the engine on the assembly line compared to attaching a pad to the hood with several clips.

Italeri to re-release Revell Ford Aeromax!
Jordan White replied to metalhead's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
To be fair the Italeri kits are well detailed with a large parts count. -
Hmm quite an interested project, though I'm wondering how you'll be able to get the lights to function by means of the pedal and turn signal stalk at that scale.

I recently bought a sealed 1/12 Doyusha Porsche kit, and found this little brochure inside which shows all 14 1/12 scale kits that they offered. I'm sure there's many people here that have never seen any (minus perhaps the Lamborghini, Mercedes 450SL/SLC, and Stratos kits which appear occasionally in the large scale section). Currently, I have 5 of the kits in my collection (Stingray, Trans Am, Mach 1, 450SLC AMG, Porsche 911).

Found these on a clearance table at a local hobby shop (Hub Hobby for any Minnesotans), $65 after tax for what would have probably cost almost triple that at their retail prices!

Some sort of light tan primer with a primer gray hood and roof.
