  1. Could always build it as a custom where the owner shortened the wheelbase for easier off roading!
  2. Getting there! Looks like you still need to add some length between the doors and the rear wheels.
  3. Per the title, post any plow trucks you've built (pickup truck, van, or SUV)! I'm planning on building one using the AMT C1500 kit, so I'd like to see what other people have done.
  4. Looks pretty nice in that color combo! I do agree that there are some fit and finish issues that you could have improved on a bit, but I will say that some of the parts were finicky for me as well when I built it, especially the side panels and rear roll pan. It's too bad they didn't mold the taillights clear instead of red for the re-release, since it would have made making the reverse portion much easier.
  5. I've been around the UP of Michigan enough to see that none mount them on the tailgate, unless it's an SUV (Bronco, Scout, Blazers, etc.). Most that have them are mounted in the box towards the front. I haven't really seen any mounted on the plow frame, but I have seen ones mounted on non-plow trucks on a special bracket on the front, generally ones that have a camper mounted in the box. I have also seen a few that have no spare at all! Biggest reason I think that they aren't under the bed is because the lifting/lowering mechanism has rusted out/up.
  6. I think it is because they are "different" and fairly unique to one another. It does get boring seeing the same old billet rod or stock muscle car at every show.
  7. Technically, the doors are hinged on the outside on the 1:1 vehicle. Not terribly difficult to do, but may be tough in scale if you can't find a small enough hinge pin.
  8. Good to know, found some cheap Italeri trucks there last month.
  9. Guess I'm lucky then, got the camaro off eBay and while the box was a tad squished in the corners, the contents were intact.
  10. Just saw this thread, and I will say that looks familiar! I saw it at a car show last year here. The exhaust is cool since it runs through those large milk jugs on either side, and it sounds awesome. Certainly interesting!
  11. They're ashamed about the amount of reissues they release?
  12. That's the one thing I was never fond of about these kits, the custom wheel sets were 14" rather than 15".
  13. How can you tell what level a store is, besides of course by looking at the kit selection?
  14. The Michael's near me does have models, however it's a fairly small selection of the more "popular" models that don't really interest me much. I'll occasionally go there with the coupon if I need a kit for kitbashing.
  15. Well I finally got the kit in the mail today, so I should be able to start on it this weekend.
  16. So did Revell show anything about the 1/12 '69 Camaro or did they just show the same picture that we've seen already?
  17. Just noticed that the lower vents changed from 8 to 7 on the later models, so I had to cut the old ones out and graft in some new vents.
  18. Well I got the bumper starting to take shape to represent the later styling. As you can see it's still rough and needs filler, but I think it's going to turn out great.
  19. The grille should be easy, I just have to cut out the "inserts" and figure out some sort of scale mesh to insert in place. The side panels and bumpers however will require a bit of filling and extra styrene. Edit: Just noticed that the grille is indeed differently shaped.
  20. For this build, I'll be using the Tamiya Jeep Grand Cherokee kit (which is kitted as the 5.2 Limited model), and converting it into the special edition '98 5.9 Limited. As you can see, it has 5-spoke wheels versus the multi-spoke wheels that come with the kit. In order to replicate these, I'm using the set of wheels from the Tamiya Wrangler kit, cutting out the spokes, and inserting the wheel front from the AMT '97 Trans Am kit. The only obvious visual difference is the wheel center is convex, compared to the concave center of the actual wheel, though from a distance this isn't an issue.
  21. It looks like if you raise the beltline along the top of the door and rear quarter under the window, it would line up with the hood and rear fender like the picture.
  22. Yeah I should be starting soon too, mine is coming from Japan.
  23. Agree! I'm curious to see whether its any different.
  24. I think i'm going to change up the kit I'm building. Instead of the C1500, I'm going to be building the Aoshima Nissan Terrano (Pathfinder) into a 3-door soft-top concept that would have been built to compete with the Isuzu Amigo and Jeep Wrangler.
  25. Me too, its a great kit to build!
