  1. Since it's based on the F150, it would only be 2WD, which the 1:1 never was. Hopefully some sort of 4WD system could be cast and included as well.
  2. How much would be done, just the body and interior? Or would there be a chassis plate/frame? Which kit would be the basis?
  3. Generally it was (I say was because I think Ebay has counteracted this now) because Ebay didn't have a fee on the shipping price, so people would put a low price for the item, and a higher price for shipping.
  4. How about a '67 Camaro?
  5. Best way would be keep them chrome, mask off the lip, and use an anodized-blue, or transparent blue, spray paint. Then if you want, you could make the center cap decals.
  6. From doing a quick Google image search, it seems to be about a 50-50 split. So if you're thinking of building it, I'd say just go with whichever you think looks better.
  7. I've seen the same sort of warnings on other sites as well. However most of the time the person being slammed will come on and make things right. Like on a Jeep forum I'm a member at, if someone slams a company for bad customer service, especially if they are a sponsor at the site, they will usually come on and try to make things right. However, if nothing is going to happen, then just lock this thread since it isn't going to help anything.
  8. I do agree that calling out someone could have potential negative drawbacks, however I still think that he should at least try to publicly get his attention, since he's not responding to PMs or e-mails. Allow him to explain his actions under the scrutiny of his peers. I know its considered "drama", however I believe it's sometimes good to call someone out publicly for their actions.
  9. Well I believe they do it so they can get the best mileage possible and avoid the gas guzzler tax. In any case, there's people who have figured out how to disable it, so it's not that big of a deal.
  10. The only one I know of is the 'Vette (do they still do the skip-shift?) at the moment. I know they did that for the older Vettes and Camaros, however it was easy to disable which most people did. I do like Porsche's idea of a seven speed manual, with 6 close ratios for performance and a long 7th for highway driving.
  11. Oh yeah? Well my '89 Wrangler is even simpler: 5-speed stick, 4WD lever, zip-down windows, no cruise, no A/C, and only power steering/brakes. Course it does have auto hubs, but that'll change once I upgrade the axles. Personally, I don't really care what they do anymore, so long as some companies still offer a manual on some of their vehicles. When I get a new vehicle next year, I'll be looking at a 2013 Tacoma with the 4-cylinder and 5-speed, in 4WD, which I'll have to special order since there seems to be only autos on the lots. As far as auto shifters though, I prefer column shift for trucks and floor shift for cars, with an actual shifter.
  12. I don't think I could ever willingly smash a kit, even if it was giving me the worst of trouble. Either I'd put it away for later, or just dismantle it and use the parts for something else.
  13. Agree on the realistic tires, not to mention tires with lettering. Overall, I wish the model companies would actually use all this interactive media to their advantage. Why have a Facebook page if you're not going to use it to see what the customer wants! Why not have polls that see what people would like in a certain kit, or what kits to produce next. Even if people don't have Facebook, get a mailing list together where polls and surveys can be sent though e-mail. See if people actually want yet another Mustang, Corvette, or Tri-5, or if they'd rather have something unique. Guess that's more of a rant, but you get my point.
  14. Dunno about here, but at the Scale Auto forums, they only allow 3 pics per post, which is kinda dumb since you can just as easily post several 3-picture posts and it would defeat the purpose.
  15. Pretty sure that's the Revell kit, if it has the metal front grille piece.
  16. Yeah those do too. There's a regular cab long box (both snap and glue), regular cab short box, and regular cab flareside.
  17. Any particular year? I know the Saleen S281 kit comes with a newer 351W (should actually be a 281 for the S281 to be correct, but that's beside the point).
  18. I just use the dollar primer from Wally World.
  19. Okay, so here's where I'm at now. First, here's the body with the chrome stripped from the fin pieces, and the molding hole in the body filled. I also narrowed the bumper 2mm to allow the edges to line up with the fenders. Next is the front bumper, which I stripped, removed the molded grille, and drilled out the "bullets". I'm going to mold in some custom fog lights in the holes. I also added a front air dam to the bumper, which I suppose may seem kind of odd, but with the stance I'm going for it's going to look awesome. Here's the chassis plate with the paint somewhat stripped off, the rear floor removed where the gas tank and spare well sat, and the spots where the leaf springs were mounted were removed. I've also begun filling in the spot I cut in the frame for the exhaust. Finally, here's the engine so far. As I said, it's meant to look like a 327 with supercharger. I scratchbuilt some tall valve covers, a deep-sump oil pan, and added a harmonic balancer. I also added the starter, the oil filter, the water pump, and the carbs were painted up like Edelbrocks.
  20. Haha thanks, it certainly does get the attention when I drive it! Only thing I wish is when I bought the wheels and tires, that I put a bit smaller street tires on the rear rather than the all-terrains, since they probably aren't the best for a low-horsepower engine.
  21. Why delete the thread though? I've never understood why threads get deleted without explanation, when it invariably means someone else will post asking why it was deleted (here's a good example), with the new thread invariably being locked. Why can't there be a section specifically for forum suggestions and feedback, like at SA?
  22. As far as the body lines being questioned, I think the way the bed is mounted to the chassis makes it sit at an angle for some reason. As for the spare tire mounted to the rear, I'm pretty sure it's either something to do with the Blazer/Jimmy kit (one of which had a rear mounted spare), or to do with the older stepside kit that offered a spare carrier on the tailgate. I find it odd that GM decided to mount a spare carrier on the stepside version, yet didn't offer it for the wideside version.
  23. I've actually started this build already, I just haven't had a chance to make a post. I previously built up the Revell-o-gram 1/12 Bel Air and decided that I would really like to take it apart and build it up differently. Partly because I don't think it looks good now, partly because I would like to add more detail, and partly because they are hard to find new for cheap. Anywho, here's how it looked before I took it apart. Basically my plans are to dechrome everything, and paint the bumpers and tailfin trim body color. The window trim will be black, and the side trim will be removed and the holes filled in. I'm going to use the kit tires and wheels, but make my own wheel centers. Stance will be 70's muscle, with low front and jacked up rear. I'm building the engine up to resemble a Chevy 327, and am using the kit supercharger. It will also have opening doors and trunk. The color scheme will be a surprise at this point, and there will be one other detail that will also be a surprise for now. I should have some pics tomorrow though of where I am so far.
  24. '89 Jeep Wrangler Islander, 258 I6 '69 VW Baja Bug, 1500cc flat-four
  25. The thing is though, there's a difference in say creating slang words versus writing like half your keyboard keys don't work. At least when the people from the seventies talked jive, they still could make complete sentences!
