  1. 1' in 1:24 scale is 1/2" in 1:1 scale (12" divided by 24 gives you .5") 1' in 1:48 scale is 1/4" in 1:1 scale (12" divided by 48 gives you .25")
  2. Dunno, this neither looks new nor like a hot rod. If anything it looks like those Boyd street cruisers of the 90's with the large wheels and fancy headlights so popular on cars today. Engine style seems to be similarly done a lot on the touring style muscle cars.
  3. The main issue with running solid rubber tires is they lack the compressability of regular air-filled tires, and hence transmit more shock to the suspension and body of the vehicle. The ride over a rough road would be really jarring since the tire would act like a solid rod between the road and axle rather than a second shock absorber. The "airless tires" allow for no air pressure needed, while at the same time providing support that can absorb shock.
  4. Michelin came out with the Tweel concept back in in 2005, course maybe Bridgestone will be the first to bring it to market.
  5. Few that weren't mentioned. I believe in the movie "Employee of the Month" when the guys are sitting in their clubhouse, Andy Dick is building (badly) a model airplane. In an episode of The Sopranos, Furio (who came over from Italy) paid a visit to a guy in a salon (who was doing some stuff on the side and not paying up) and the guy liked to build models. I believe he was working on a Formula 1 car when Furio came in, and I think he made the guy sit on the model car. There were also a few on the shelf behind the desk. On an episode of The Mythbusters, they used a Revell model of a bulk freighter (showed the box, though the Revell name was taped over). I'm sure they used models several other times for demonstrations, but that's the recent one I remember. "Thanks mom! Now we can simulate international commerce!"
  6. Shouldn't be too bad I think if you prime it, scuffing up the chrome a bit would help as well. I know that spraying over chrome without primer is a pain to do.
  7. Agree brad, course it seems a good majority of sites have crappy search engines (or ones that require you to search a certain way to get the results you want). At least this site gives you the option of displaying the results as posts or threads, unlike at Scale Auto where it only gives you the results in post form. Makes it tougher to search since it will spread out the posts from the same thread and you sometimes can't remember if you've opened the thread or not.
  8. (This sort of info should be put into a sticky thread with pros and cons for each)\ I use heavy duty oven cleaner to strip chrome, it comes off within 5 minutes. BTW, I tried using bleach on Revell parts (the Snap Peterbilt) and it seemed to take forever, plus it didn't get off the underlying clear coat used to help the chrome stick.
  9. Makes sense, sometimes I get too rushed and mask off too early when trying to get a build painted.
  10. When the texture of the tape is transferred to the already painted surface, does that mean it was applied too early before the paint had adequate dry time?
  11. Nick: isn't that wire for the trailer wiring? (Though in real life it would come from the taillight wiring)
  12. I'd have to go with the Revell 70's Chevy van kit. The way they did the interior "tub" is a real pain, especially when the floorpan is warped. Would have been much better if they could have done the floor and "frame" as one piece (since I believe the real vans were "unibody" style) to help prevent warping, and just have the engine cover be a separate piece so you could easily install the engine. The worst part is with the warped floor, when you attach it to a straight frame it just causes the frame to bend, causing the front wheel to lift off the ground. The body is great, the chassis is great, it's just the dang interior that makes it such a sucky kit. Oh yeah, I forgot that the other issue is there are no positioning tabs, so it's a major pain to get the thing to sit in its correct spot.
  13. Would be awesome if Galaxy would start putting out some camper trailers and maybe a pickup-bed camper to go with the cool trailers they sell already.
  14. Guess I could call it a 2012 release (the auto companies would ) but Revell is going to re-release the '77 Chevy Wrecker at the end of this month.
  15. The problem I see is not so much the actual V6 used, but rather what the intake and top-of-engine looks like. Here's what the actual V6 looks like under the hood.
  16. Both are 1/25 scale, Cougar uses 302 V8 while T-bird uses supercharged V6.
  17. Just noticed on the Revell site, for those who care, they are planning on re-releasing the '77 Chevy Wrecker at the end of this month! http://www.revell.com/model-kits/trucks/85-7220.html http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/rmx/rmx857220.htm
  18. Took the Revell 359 kit and minimized the chrome while giving it a copper/red/black paint scheme. I've also created a unit to attach to the fifth wheel in order to allow it to run in the daily driven sled pull class.
  19. Try clearing your cookies and cache and start over again, see if that helps or not.
  20. What browser do you use? I know that Firefox and Chrome asks you if you want it to autofill the name and password for you. Otherwise, why not check the box that lets you stay signed in?
  21. Wow, a General Lee car show, it's like going to a Halloween party where everyone dresses up as the same celebrity. Oh, and happy birthday Nick!
