  1. Yeah, I second the Tamiya '66. It builds up as a 1300, but you could really build it up as any of the engines. I bought one recently and am going to build a model of my '69 Baja Bug.
  2. My one complaint with ebay is the whole bid-for-you system. Sure it's great if you can't get on for a few days, but it just takes the fun out of bidding (not to mention drives up the price quickly). Then of course there's the whole deal about you maybe not having as high of a max bid as the next person. You'd have a chance if the other person had to manually bid, but with auto you just throw in your max bid and if it isn't enough then it's time to move on to the next item. There is the whole deal that the other person could back out, but if they set the max bid then it's pretty sound that they probably won't back out. /rant Edit: the other thing is when people use the "or best offer" deal. If you put in the first offer and it isn't high enough for the seller, then they should show what their lowest they will take is. Heck, that's how it works in the real world!
  3. Not to be a dried tube of glue, but could you possibly turn off the caps lock please? We don't need people yelling in here.
  4. I believe the best way to do it would of course be larger brakes, and a solid front axle beam to give it a proper 4 link, like you would a truck. The less desirable way is of course lowering the A-arms, as it appears the pics I posted attempted to do (though with better fabricating).
  5. Only on the better built ones do they have any semblance of good engineering. I'm sure most are just set up like this: Perty...
  6. No Gregg, that's why we're all so angry, we keep knocking stuff off the table!
  7. Get well soon buddy! And don't be trying to paint while you're there, you don't want the nurses to get all light headed (though I'm sure you could still whittle away with your xacto knife, since the surgeon is close by! )
  8. Uh Harry, I believe he's actually talking about Unreliable Resin, so I think we're in the clear on this one.
  9. So pretty... Ahem, bubble is supposedly the term used for rounded-body vehicles, such as the early 90's Impalas/Caprices and Crown Vics.
  10. In my personal opinion, Donk and great don't go together in a sentence. Sure some may have decent suspension engineering, but most of the time they are crappy jobs, and all of the time the wheels look stupid.
  11. Looks great so far, and I certainly prefer a painted front bumper to a chrome one, which is what I did on my F-350 Dually. However, the chrome grille does look good, especially with those wheels.
  12. I just use a foam "brush" to apply it to the parts. Great thing is since there are no bristles, it provides a smooth coat as soon as it's applied.
  13. Photobucket will resize every pic to the setting you have. However, I thought the site here already had a setting to resize the pic to a certain size, and you could click on it to see the full size image...course, I generally upload my pics at the 800x600 size anyways.
  14. Today's episode was pretty good, they actually found a car that they got a good profit on.
  15. I've been watching this for a while now, and it's not a bad show. I didn't really care for the pranking on Overhaulin, and the builds took too long on American Hot Rod. I prefer the fact that they aren't building a car for a "mark", and that they're somewhat more down to earth. Of course, the fact that they actually give some info about each car they're building, along with mentioning what the cars are that pull into the lot, certainly gives it some educational merit. Now, did anyone watch the Car Warriors show on SPEED last wednesday? That was an interesting show. If you haven't, two teams have 72 hours to build up identical cars, and the winning team keeps both cars. They don't have to worry about a budget either, which allows for better results IMO. Also, the teams are the "pros" versus the "average guys", so it gives a bit of twist.
  16. Check out this thread I found. http://cs.scaleautomag.com/scacs/forums/t/63174.aspx
  17. What's the scoop on the funky dually fenders?
  18. None of the three you posted are, this is the one he mentioned: http://www.megahobby.com/zl1427chevyprostockdragengine1-25rossgibsonengines.aspx
  19. In all seriousness though, I've never done that, nor will I ever. I don't plan on selling my builts anytime soon, nor do I really care the exact date I finished them. Good for you though that you actually do that.
  20. I think your best bet would be the engine from the SVT Lightning. You would just have to switch sides for the intake.
  21. I don't know...he is nice and he builds scale "softwere"!
  22. Personally the only reason I'd want a chrome-less kit is because most of my builds have painted bumpers/grilles/what have you. However, I guess since most would want it, it's not a big deal to strip it off myself.
  23. Bit pricey... http://www.modeltraincrossing.com/edmund_fitzgerald.htm Bit cheaper... http://www.steelnavy.com/iron.htm Edit: Cue excellent tribute video.
