  1. Perhaps that's why the other "mag forum" is so popular, they claim to be enthusiasts!
  2. Heck, why couldn't they just come up with their own tire names?
  3. I suppose he could have left out the chaos remark since some people can figure out the board okay enough, but I do agree that a board that's as disorganized (or rather not organized) like Spotlight is, is something that we don't want here simply because of how difficult it is to find certain subjects.
  4. Best black paint I found was the Rust-o-leum Automotive Enamel, used it on the Nite and it covered great in just one coat. Course I did end up using Future over it, but it coated much better than other blacks I've used.
  5. Another good choice for the 14 bolt rear axle is the axle from the Monogram F-250 kit, obviously not a GM axle but the same basic shape.
  6. I think it's one of those deals where it would have been harder to modify the belt assembly to make the correct non-A/C routing, though he could have probably just made it an extra pulley and no one would have been the wiser.
  7. Thanks so far guys!
  8. Build completed, pics can be found here. The Lesser Known Sport/Muscle Trucks
  9. What I've built is the sort of predecessor to the Ford Lightning. The F-150 Nite included black paint, black low mount mirrors, body color bumpers and grille, aluminum wheels, and of course the signature blue/pink striping and badging. The Nite was actually introduced in 1991 on the previous design, but I decided to do the 1992 version using the newer body style. Unlike the Lightning though, the Nite was offered in all the same body and drivetrain configurations as the regular F-150, in this case I've built the 2WD Regular Cab Short Box version. I figured on making it a showroom fresh style, hence I made a window sticker for it as well as adding a decal onto the model's window. Also, the dealer plates are for Art Goebal Ford which was the same dealer where my dad bought his Aerostar back in 1989. They aren't around anymore, but my dad had an envelope with the logo he claims was on the dealer plates.
  10. Make the New Content page a bookmark in your browser? Harry: what about doing, say, a build up in the trucks section, and posting the finished pics in the same thread, then posting another post of just the completed pics in the Under Glass?
  11. Looking good so far Nick! When we're both done, we should make a combined post in the under glass section titled "The Lesser Known Sport Trucks".
  12. Was able to get the body, glass, and interior on the chassis as well as install the lights. I'm using the mirrors from the re-released Monogram Bronco since they're the same low-mount style used on the Nite. Still have to drum up some decals for the sides in Photoshop, complete the engine compartment, and install a few other odds and ends.
  13. Well that was with the volume of the Euro gallon. The gallon used in the US is volumetrically smaller thus our mileage is less.
  14. Thanks! It's too bad AMT didn't make a 4WD version of the F-150, since they were probably more popular than the 2WD version in real life!
  15. Body is painted and cleared! Also added side window to place window sticker.
  16. Both kits are great (Monogram and AMT) in their own ways. Which one do you have? AMT has a great front suspension assembly and has the V8/auto combo along with the nice separate hubs. Monogram has great detail elsewhere, especially with the one piece roof. Also has the V8/manual combo. Personally I prefer the Monogram kit overall just for the better fit and finish.
  17. Looks good! Love the detail you put into it. However it looks like the paint may have given you a little trouble on the edges (around the wheel flares for one). I would have painted the flares black to give a little contrast to the body as well.
  18. I've actually just pulled out the box. Gotta clear the body parts, and then start assembling.
  19. Lookin good buddy! I gotta get some motivation to start workin on the F150 again!
  20. Agree, too many modelers get in over their head and eventually mess up, causing them to just quit. However, even as a self-proclaimed good modeler I still have a hard time finishing a model, though it's more about getting bored and wanting to work on something else (which I'm sure most of the modeling population can attest to).
  21. If you don't want to use polish but want glossy, try Pledge floor wax with Future Shine, and apply it with a foam brush. Goes on smooth with just one coat, and dries to a high gloss finish. However, if you're set on the Testors, then someone else can chime in.
  22. I will add that the only diecasts I still buy are the 1/18th scale. I do have some 1/24th scale diecasts, but I don't really like them due to the lack of detail compared to a 1/24th plastic model kit that I can build myself. The 1/18th scale diecasts also offer some subjects that aren't in plastic...plus I like the larger detail.
