  1. Should build something like this: Passenger space of a van combined with the 5th wheel hauling of a pickup.
  2. I love them all really, they're my favorite "genre" of cars. However, if I were to pick my fave, it would be the '70 El Camino SS454 LS-6 with the Muncie 4-speed in yellow with black stripes!
  3. 5 Thumbs up dude, that thing is amazing!
  4. Muahaha I found a way in Firefox to save the pics. When you have the image opened in a new window, click and hold the left mouse button on the pic and drag it off the window onto the main Firefox window (in the middle of the screen), and it will open in the open tab, allowing you to save it!
  5. Looking pretty good so far. Are you going to try to get those tires to fit the wheels a bit better? I'm assuming those are the tires from the AMT F-150 kit.
  6. You should get one, they are so simple to work on, and sound awesome with the right exhaust.
  7. Haha yeah, mine is more of a street buggy, since we don't really have anywhere good to go off roading in Minnesota. It is fun to drive around up here in Michigan, but back home it mostly drives around town and to car shows!
  8. I think your best bet is to use a pair of front doors, preferably from the '92-'96 F-150, cut the door vertically in line with where the vent window meets the side window (keep the separation bar intact), and use some sheet styrene to fill in the front part of the door. Best thing I can think of, maybe someone else has a better idea. By the way, nice truck! I've always loved the Centurion, especially for the generation before yours, and wonder why Ford never made them from the factory! They eventually did it with the Excursion, but it would have been easy with their crew cab and the rear of the Bronco.
  9. For me it says avatars can't be any larger than 150x150 pixels and 55kb in size, I assume it's the same for you. Basically, you have to go into either Photoshop or Paint, and simply shrink the image until it fits into those parameters. You also have to make sure you're using the correct spot to upload (one's for images off your computer, the other is using the URL of a pic online).
  10. I think they stay the size you uploaded them when you first post them, but when you return to the thread they should have reduced in size, at least that's what has happened to me.
  11. Yeah, it does seem a bit low still. Also, if you use the IMG tag from photobucket, the pics will show up larger. I believe the site will autosize them so that they aren't super huge though.
  12. Well it's been more than a week haha, but I finally got some more done on this. I painted and assembled, the chassis, engine, and drivetrain. The kit came with some fairly small tires (better suited for the custom version), so I used the set from the AMT Explorer, since the wheels fit in perfectly. Of course, I then had to raise the suspension since it would have been too low. I found the lift pieces from the AMT Ranger fit perfect (specially since they have the same suspension setup, I only had to slightly modify the front spring/shock pieces).
  13. Actually what you should do is make the Mexican-only 1999-2001 Dodge Ramcharger, since it also used the Caravan taillights (the non-US versions) and liftgate.
  14. There are quite a few on eBay for cheap http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=revell+dodge+ram&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg= Otherwise there are a few of the snapfast AMT Rams as well. http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=amt+dodge+ram&_sacat=0&_odkw=revell+dodge+ram&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313
  15. It's because you hit the reply button for that particular post (like I did with yours), which means that post will show up as a quote in your post. You need to look below the last post, for the larger dark blue button that says "add reply".
  16. Which is more or less what I said in post #14.
  17. Ugh, I just figured out that the Revell Jeep J10/Honcho kit is 1/27.5 scale, rather than 1/25 like they claim. No wonder my Dorothy frame is so big.
  18. Alright, then I think it's the car that is being judged. There may be some cases of crooked judges voting for the owner, but I think it's usually the car. I can see what you're saying about company built cars vs. owner built cars, but I still think it doesn't matter. They are people too, and for all they know they are the best, which of course may not be true (just look at the cars West Coast Customs churns out!) Of course, people should know that their car may not win and just enjoy the show for what it is. Heck, the car doesn't even have to be insanely custom to win, which means an average Joe could build a winning car.
  19. True, but building a model and building a 1:1 is a completely different ball game. Anyone can buy a kit and build it right out of the box (the quality may not be the same however ). Not anyone can just buy a real car and build it up. There's also the deal that a real car can, you know, be driven around whereas a model can either be shown at a show, or put on a shelf. Thus having a person that knows what they're doing building the car makes sense. You of course get people in both sets that have someone else do the work so they can just claim it as their own, but for the most part they are two different areas. 1:1 car owners want their dream car but may not have the skills to pay the bills, whereas a model builder will want to do the work themselves so they can make it their own way and show off their skills. Any more and I feel like I'll be talking in circles!
  20. I feel that's different. Building a custom 1:1 show car is a large commitment, both in time and money. Building a show model on the other hand doesn't need as much. It may take a while to build, but it can be easily stored away when not being worked on unlike a 1:1. It usually doesn't take much money unless you're using a lot of aftermarket parts, in which case it's good to at least give credit. Plus, 1:1 car shows are usually more advertised and attended, and may offer cash prizes. Model shows are smaller, may not offer a prize, and shouldn't have a real reason to want to buy a completed winner unless the person just is seeking acceptance.
  21. If they claim to have done the work themselves, then I consider them dishonest and don't think they deserve an award. However, if they say that someone else built it (either for them or it was the previous owner) then it's not a big deal.
  22. Yeah a few weeks back I saw an older Volvo wagon with the rear fog on. I at first thought that it had a taillight out, but then I remembered about the rear fog (and it wasn't even foggy!)
