  1. I'm looking forward to the 70's GM pickup with the plow. Not only is it the style of Chevy/GMC that I love the most, it also comes with a plow and some cool extra parts. I plan on at buying at least three: one to make into a 2WD long bed 3/4 ton in the way that I wanted to build my 1:1 truck (before I sold it), one to make into a 1 ton flatbed plow truck with gooseneck hitch (for my Galaxy triple axle), and a third to make into a GMC Jimmy High Sierra. Bye bye money! Hopefully they are sold at Micheals so I can use the discount coupons!
  2. Man, if they would come out with the CJ and Chevy K again I would definitely buy one of each!
  3. Yeah it looks like they're reissuing the High Roller kit, minus the large tires and adding a plow. Though with the spare on the back of the box art, it also looks like they used parts from the stepside kit.
  4. Definitely going to be getting me some of those GMC truck kits!
  5. I have noticed that. To me, the definitions are: wheels - metal parts of the rolling assembly, I always count the tires as a separate entity wheel covers - metal for the older cars, and plastic for the newer cars, I consider these as the full facings that cover a steel wheel rims - the rim of the wheel that the tire bead attaches to, I also like to use this for the entire wheel when making fun of the big shiny wheels on the donks and such; see "rimz" hubcaps - whatever covers the wheel hub/center, may or may not also cover the lugnuts but doesn't cover the entire wheel
  6. I've said it before and I'll say it again, every genre and class of vehicles has their share of unsafe/unsafe looking builds. As to the point at hand, I think flat finishes should be included with the shiny ones. I do know that if you don't get the flat finish right, it will look uneven or even have the grain look out of scale. Getting flat to sit right can be plenty of work, except you don't have to do the work of buffing out a polish.
  7. I pre-ordered the LCE from Amazon, and it should be here tomorrow. I can't wait to get it also, since I love playing FM3 and 4 just looks and sounds so much better. I was a die-hard Gran Turismo fan, but when the bomb called GT5 dropped, I figured I'd give Forza a shot.
  8. Once I read the topic, I knew what it was going to be since I've seen a similar version elsewhere. Funny nonetheless though.
  9. Molded in engine-compartment details. They're usually a major pain to try and detail paint. Much better to have them be separate pieces. Off of this, lack of engine compartment details.
  10. I think the wheels do make or break the build. They have to have the perfect size and backspacing in order to look good on a build. In fact, I just purchased a set of wheels from Wheelman and I went and bought a kit on eBay that I think they would look perfect on.
  11. I don't even know why people swear here... It's much more fun to use replacement words! "I hit that fudge-nugget right in his gall-darn mouth!"
  12. Actually I do plan on using the lights since it's meant to be a street legal truck (well...save for the non-DOT approved racing slicks ).
  13. It was the Revell Snaptite AC Delco Monte Carlo (Earnhardt's blue #3).
  14. You know it's funny, I'm surprised how well the 2-door conversion actually did turn out. I was having trouble getting the bondo to sand flat the right way and I didn't think the paint would make it look as smooth as I thought it was. Of course, I'm glad that I was at least able to get the positioning of the slanted pillar correct, since that's important for the look. I found a picture of one other person who did this on the 'net and they had the pillar too far forward.
  15. Looks good Nick, you're skills are definitely improving with each build! Of course, I'm surprised you didn't know that Chevy did in fact offer a Sport model in '92 (actually since '89). It basically had body color bumpers and grille, and came in black, red, and white. The '89 model looked exactly like the SS454, minus the decals and obviously engine.
  16. I started this project with the old Aoshima Nissan Terrano Low Rider kit that I got off e-bay. I basically converted it from a 1991-1995 5-door model into a 1987-1990 3-door model. I also gave it what I like to call a "redneck lift kit". Basically this entails adding some rear coil spring extensions out of "pipe", making some new control arms, and making a new cradle for the front suspension and differential housing. I also had to modify the torsion bars to get them at the angle I wanted. Interior is stock except I converted the dash to LHD (basically had to cut it into 5 pieces and reassemble it) and I had to add seatbacks (why it doesn't have any, I don't know.) The exterior got all the addons that came with the kit, minus the running boards and mudflaps. I decided to give it a two-tone similar to factory, with black and bright red along with a gold stripe to separate the colors. Wheels are from the kit, and they fit perfect in a set of resin-rubber tires I got from Ma's Resins.
  17. Actually Mike that only takes you to the last post in the thread (which works good if you've read through the whole thread already and want to go to the end). The blue dot to the left of the title takes you to the first unread post (or last read post, same difference).
  18. Click the bright blue button to the left of the thread title (if it's lightened like the title, then the thread has of course been read or marked as read).
  19. Hopefully I'm not ruining a joke or anything but I'm referring to "stock truck" as NASCAR does to their vehicles. Basically it looks fairly stock, but of course has a modified drivetrain and engine.
  20. 'Tis actually a 'Stang 5.0, the #1 spark plug wire is just hidden behind the alternator (which just so happens to be the same color as the engine). As far as updates go, I just started school again for the fall, so it will be a bit before I get back into the swing of things. I do have the body painted though and just have to put on a clear coat which I might try and do this weekend.
  21. Looking great so far Nick, your building skills have certainly been improving!
  22. Well I finally got some more done on this build. Just about finished the chassis/drivetrain (only have to finish the exhaust) and I finished the interior as well, in which I added a simple rollcage from the NASCAR kit.
  23. All I did was use an Xacto knife and scribed the windshield to look like it's cracked, basically hold the knife backwards (blade pointed upwards). As far as kit shortfalls, I dislike how they did the front suspension and how undetailed the kit is overall. Better kit is the '79 3n1 kit by Revell/Monogram.
