  1. Could you specify what brand kit it is? Also I see you're from Hancock, I'm over at Michigan Tech right now!
  2. I know we;ve had a thread here already about this, but I'll throw in my two cents again. I'm part of the generation born in the late 80's, and thus have a different idea than say the guys born in the 50's. I find that doing anything to your car to make it look either different than stock, or in some cases different than another person could be considered customizing. You also have to remember that the days of frenching lights and channeling bodies is falling behind. It's tougher to do certain mods to newer vehicles unless you have a ton of time vested in the work. I can see still calling a chopped, channeled, slammed '49 Merc being called a "kustom", but I think that the mods specific to those sorts of vehicles aren't just considered customizing. A new paint job could be considered customizing, since you're giving it your own personal flavor. Heck, as much as I hate the mods that ricers do, does it really matter in the grand scheme of things, especially compared to what guys did back in the day? Frenching lights to create air pockets that reduce aerodynamics, leading seams to add mass to the body, chopping roofs and channeling floors to make less interior space, adding gaudy wheel covers, sometimes large amounts of chrome trim and grille pieces, the list goes on. Granted there are people who think their poorly modded car is fast, but all in the same it could just be for looks. What I want to say is stop living in your little world where your definition is the true one, and that the old car guys are what defines how a car should be done. People are today creating fantastic works of art that have little to no body mods, and they are certainly custom compared to how it came stock. Oh, and of course I mean reasonable modifications. Damage being customization? Perhaps if you did it with a hammer to make a statement or to say help with clearance. Different gas? So you'd somehow try and use the same gas or oil brand as the factory used?
  3. Shoulda just put on steelies and claimed that all 4 (6?) wheel covers fell off.
  4. You could always build one, just sayin.
  5. I have several on my plate (certainly not as much as the seasoned veterans though!) 1964 Impala Derby Car 1980 Bronco XLT Sport 1987 F-250 Ext. 6. Since school is winding down for the semester, I've stopped working on kits for now. However, I decided to take some time and make a window sticker for this build, since it is going to be factory fresh (and I like doing research ). I also did like Nick did for his Trans Am, and figure out a VIN for it.
  7. Thanks guys! Yeah I didn't like the look of the stock wheels and tires on the box, so I found these wheels and thought they would fit perfectly.
  8. Thanks guys!
  9. Wheels are Pegasus 19" chrome IROC wheels that I got from Scale Dreams (along with the disc brakes).
  10. Should work now, I was changing a few of them. Great paint was in part to using Future for a clear, which by the way is excellent to use!
  11. Finally got this finished. I decided to paint it like the rare Syclone Marlboro, but give it a set of white painted IROC wheels. Did a little underhood detailing, but otherwise it's stock. Enjoy!
  12. Well golly gee I actually finished this one, which is now posted in the Under Glass area.
  13. Haha competing awesomeness, good thinking! Actually he should do the Sierra GT, since he likes GMC more than Chevy!
  14. That's why I like the Nite (other than being black with blackout trim), people don't really know about it. Well, that and the fact that you could get one with 4WD and a 5-speed, unlike the Lightning.
  15. I use this site that has a whole bunch of old car brochures for American cars. And here ya go Mr. Show! http://www.lov2xlr8.no/brochures/ford/87tbird.html
  16. Thanks for the info. I don't think it was offered in the Nite, from the brochure I found, but it's not a big deal. It could just be a special order.
  17. No it had the polished cast aluminum wheels offered on the other F-150 models. The Lightning had the directional 5-spokes. Edit: here's a pic
  18. Thanks, I won't get any more updates until at least saturday because I have to do a bunch of spray painting, but can't where I'm currently at.
  19. Guess I could start posting on this build here. I'm starting with the AMT F-150 Shortbox and planning on building it as a 1992 2WD with the Nite trim level. Major components of the package: Raven Black exterior with body color bumpers and grille Choice of blue or pink side stripe with Nite badging on box sides, tailgate, and dashboard, as well as Nite floormats Polished aluminum wheels and white letter tires Sport suspension on the 2WD Standard 302 V8 or optional 351 V8 Sliding rear window I'm going to make it look like it was just purchased from the dealership, which means super clean and of course a window sticker. First thing I finished was the interior. The parts were molded in a light brown plastic, so I figured it would be perfect to make a tan interior. I also had to fabricate a shift lever since the kit didn't come with one.
  20. Eh it's a little of both really!
  21. http://www.automotivetouchup.com/choosecolor/buypaint.aspx?year=2001&make=Jeep&model=Cherokee&colordesc=Steel+Blue+Prl%2C+PBQ%2C+No%2C+No%2C+*57772 Unfortunate part is a 12oz spray can is 20 bucks.
  22. Thanks for the compliment! Rough and crude is the way I roll baby*. *Not really, but I built this in my dorm room with barely any work space!
  23. Certainly a lot better than the stock 305 that was in it!
  24. The hitch is from my spare parts, and I just made the mounting plate for it.
