  1. Love the strait 8 I'll be following
  2. What a great thread. Very helpful indeed A few pages ago the topic of safety was brought up. If you use a respirator Here are a few tips . I am in the hazardous waste industry and here is what we do. Your cartridges do not have an off and on button they are always working. When your done put the cartridges in a freezer bag to stop them from absorbing everything in the atmosphere. Clean it after every use. Alcohol swaps work fine. If you have a beard or mustache that is around the seal your respirator will not work right. At work we must be clean shaven. A bit extreme for a hobby but I thought you should know. If you can smell the solvents there in your bloodstream that is the bottom line. Make sure you have the correct cartridges they make different ones for different applications. Your paint supplier will have them. We use MSA brand they work good. Also check to make sure it works. Cover the cartridges with both hands and breath in you should feel the mask suck to your face. Cover the valve in the middle of the mask it should puff out as you breath out. Now your sealed and safe.
  3. Try here http://www.detailmaster.com page 8 You may have to scratch build the box's
  4. I am the Stig Actually I am a truck driver in the hazardous waste industry. I drive a tanker truck, roll off trucks and vacuum trucks.Mostly I haul 7000 gallons of stuff that goes KA-BOOM if you have a bad day. Been in the tanker business for 15 of my 17 years of driving. I also make some side money playing music I've been doing that since I was 13. My dad had a body shop and I helped restore cars with my uncle so I have a few hours under my belt with a DA sander.
  5. Push the car! Get a little motor and battery and make it remote control Spectacular work
  6. This is why I get nothing done. Maybe you should change your screen name to The Plastic Surgeon What a cool build I love the Driver
  7. I'm speechless. I can't imagine what your layout looks like
  8. I have read most of the recommended Authors so far All good stuff so far. I have read almost all of Clive Cussler's books and series and they are a blast. Jack Dubrul who helps Cussler with the Oregon Files is not to shabby either. Anything from Dean R Koontz is a fun read. His Odd Thomas and Frankenstein are fantastic. Stephen King is always good for a surprise. The Gunslinger is an epic series. John J Nance is good especially if you like airplanes. Jonathan Kellerman is great his wife Faye and Son Jesse are all great writers. His Alex Delaware novels are a great read. James Patterson's Novels are wonderful Alex Cross enough said. Kathy Reichs is really good to her books are the Bones T.V series .Dan Brown weaves a great yarn his attention to detail is stunning. First Man was a great biography of Niel Armstrong. Keith Richards Bio was a great read and I'm not a big stones fan I am now after the book. Other good reads Flags Of Our Fathers,The World Is Flat,Planet Google,The Walmart Effect all very good. Dan Simmons Hyperion novels are well.... wow you would have to read one to explain. Anne McCaffery's Pern novels are a great read. If you want a change of pace The Walking Dead Graphic novels by Robert Kirkman are some of the best writing I've read in a long time. Margret Weiss and Tracy Hickman write some great novels Death Gate Cycle and Dragonlance to name a few. I'm sure there are some more I will have to go through my library

  12. Ive been at this game for about 16 years and what I've learned is the bottom line. For myself and who I drive for. This is the only industry I know that say's don't give me more money for what I do .Give me more to do. 95 % of my work has been local and I have consistently made more money then the guy's I know who drive OTR. Freight is so cut throat you get paid squat. I've found you do something more then just sit behind the wheel you be better paid. If you can do a job with the truck your more valuable. I drive a Mack Vision day cab and a hazardous waste tanker.I would not trade it for any other truck on the road . That little truck has made me more money then another I've ever drove. Long haul day's are numbered Ive seen more big warehouses going up and with a lot of stuff moving on inter-model you'll be able to move it cheaper. The cost of theses big trucks is going to be to much. We just bought three new Freight-shakers almost $130000 a piece. There to heavy for what we do. All of the new computer controlled emissions system adding cost and service problems. The trucks are nice to look at and pretty good to drive but I bet in the long run you could price it right with a good day cab. It's getting pretty pricey to live out on the road and with the low wages for some I can't see doing it.
  13. Thanks it's getting there. I'm going to let the paint cure for the rest of this week then it's wax on wax off Danial-san
  14. This thing just kepps on getting better I'm "glued" no pun intended
  15. Finishing up one so it's time to do another. This is a Protar F1 88 Formula one car. I made a trade for it I'm glad i didn't spend good money for it. Needs a lot of work
  16. I did a little respray today. A dunk in the purple bath last night three coats of primer with a sand in between. It really didn't need it the model was painted fine but a few pieces were bare .I couldn't find the right color so I just repainted it. I will have to polish it out and see what I get Here is the interior on the chassis I scratched a simple suitcase to cover up the little mistake I made
  17. Thanks all It is the Esprit Turbo 1990's era I believe It is pretty good kit the body is going to be the biggest challenge I traded with Tim for it and I had a good start So I can't take all of the credit But it is a process every model is a next step to improvement. This is a really fun car I am having a ball doing it.
  18. This is the first build I've posted. I lurk here and very amazed by the quality of the build I see. I get the urge to build sometimes so I go with it. I'm not a constant modeler I have an R/C Car and plane problem that takes up most of my time but I got my start in model cars and it never truly went away. I'm going to post a few pics of my 32 Ford roadster first. You will see how I used to do things before I started lurking on this board. I will then post my progress on my Lotus esprit to see how it opened my eye's to a whole new way of thinking for me. I wasn't to concerned with details during this build. I built this about 11 or 12 years ago You can see I was into many colors with no real rhyme or reason everything shiny and new. No drive shaft I don't know what I was thinking about the fuel tank I think I got the top and bottom mixed up and just pushed forward anyway. Here is the Lotus engine I actually looked at some pictures on the colors to see how it should be. I went with muted colors made the steel parts a steel color. I painted the belts black and the pulleys a steel color and went with a matt black finish. I used some dry brushing to highlight some details with a aluminum color. No shiny bits here I also added plug wires A lot had red wires or blue but the wire I had was a pretty good size and I wasn't sure how well the would take to paint. I also added some brass color on the head bolts .That is what i saw in a few pics on line. They will be hide under the engine cowl and are not really correct but I think they add a nice touch. I have some mold lines in the engine and To be honest I got this in a trade on line and liked the color and I didn't have a good match to re do it. I have another one of these and this is my practice kit The chassis is a strait forward build on this kit added a few detail but nothing out of this world I did add some brake calipers to the discs the molded one on the front end looked kind of silly. You can see it on the bottom of the tire I just used some styrene tubing cut in half to make it look like a brake caliper. The interior was mostly done when I got the kit I liked the gray and stuck with it I added some flocking on the floor with embossing powder works great. My camera is pretty cheap so sorry for some of these pics I added some more flocking to the "boot" and I found out it wont cover a pin mark so I am scratch building a suitcase to cover up that little mistake Well that is it I will post this thing when it is done. I wanted to show with a little more effort in any kit you can take it up a notch I'm not a contester I just love cars. I'm into British cars lately but there are not many I don't like. This boars has so many great builders and the free flowing information here makes a novice builder like me improve his skills buy seeing what everyone is doing. I have to give a big thanks to Doctor Cranky his You tube video's are a huge asset to me. i learned a great deal from them I highly recommend them. When he said every model is a learning experience for the next that really worked for me. It is easy to get overwhelmed with the details sometimes you just have to start. Throw something at the wall and see what sticks Thanks for looking. any help is greatly appreciated
