  1. Nice build Curt. I have yet to rebuild my original Merit version but will use Herb Deeks photo etched wires. I have used them on my Lancia Ferrari & Alfetta 158. Dave B
  2. A friend of mine managed to get 3 Merit's and a pair of Chinese friction toy Lotus XI's a little while back. The Lotus were bought on the understanding that I would probably get 1 out of the 2 available. I have been working on them for a while. I used resin seats, and wheel/tyre combination that I made up using the Tamiya Lotus 7 tyre and a 60's Lotus wobbly slot car insert. Headlight buckets are aluminium tube and I vacformed the headlight covers & screens after making a mould from DF for the full screen conversion Tks for looking Dave B
  3. Hi Don, FIA requirement, had to fit their suitcase!! Tks guys Dave B
  4. Tks Guys, Jim, perserve with getting one on e-bay. I did. I paid around USD50 for it as a complete slot car, good condition, no windscreen though. I did notice a resin body, cast from a Revell I think, up there the other week & it went for around USD115, ridiculous Dave B
  5. Brilliant, now all I need to do is print it off, sit down, read thoroughly then think it through!!!
  6. Tks guys appreciated
  7. I ordered a HRM 450S Maserati & a RHD GTO conversion from Kevin around 9 months ago and they has only just arrived. I didn't expect to be billed immediately (Paypal), that hurt a bit, but he was always responsive to my follow up e-mails. HRM are slow and I did make an allowance for that when ordering. PS, The 450S was worth the wait, beautiful!!
  8. Thanks guys, I appreciate the kind words. Bob, I used auto acrylic, just went to the local paint shop & asked for 100ml of Viking Blue. Phil, hard to guess it is your favourite Cobra!!! Tks Dave B
  9. A few more pics PS Pattos decals, not the best set I've ever had from him as they didn't want to adhere!! Tks again Dave B
  10. I have always wanted to build the Gurney Targa Florio Cobra. I could have bought either the Model Factory Hiro (expensive) or Historic Racing Miniatures (long wait) kits but once again really wanted to use the 60's Revell slot car body. The opportunity came up a couple of months ago when I actually won, for a change, a reasonable Revell slot car on E-bay for a FAIR price. Using a spare AMT 289 & Monogram 427 I set to work. Chassis, suspension & interior is from the AMT 289 but widened & lengthened. All the outer body bits are Monogram. Motor is Monogram Mustang. Dashboard, suitcase bumps and extractors are scratchbuilt, wheels I cast from my Gunze Sanyo Daytona coupe, Weber trumpesy are shoe eyelets a mate found for me Couple of more pics to follow, Thanks for looking Dave B

sorry Bernard, I built this around 35 years ago, it is a resin body and I have no idea where the spare came from. This pic may help some identify what I did!!! Dave

  19. Hi Ed, Yep, get off your butt & do some updating!!! Mini Exotics X-1 roadster kit #879 Dave PS wanted: Mini Exotics Ferrari 330 LMB If I got hold of one would put it in silicon & mould. Have vac forming facilities as well. Could do a deal.
  20. Hi Ed, Just found this link. I have at home a Mini Exotics transkit for the Ford X1 Can-Am contender. Will provide kit ref. # later DAve B
  21. You're right, I have applied heat to the bonnet (hood) at least three times, it sits flush for about 2 days then goes back to the old 'warped' shape. Bent the doors in cold but still can't get them to sit flush, better than they were though. All in all though I'm glad I bought it, it's a neat addition to the 'sports car' collection Tks guys Dave B
  22. Tks for the comments guys. Bill, chassis & body as separate builds were great. The issue came about when it was time to fit the body over the chassis. The instructions had set install the exhausts ends. I didn't, left it till the body was on, just as well, not a problem. The main kit issue was fitting the chassis into the body. It was all painted & I had to relieve the pan at the rear of the chassis for it to clip in. Even then it still wants to lift a front wheel. Other issues were caused by me, mostly during painting the body, old enough to know better!! Dave B
  23. Been building this for a while. It has not been a happy build, I did everything wrong & then to top it off fitting the body onto the chassis & keeping the wheels anywhere need the deck was difficult, for me anyway. Be interested in any other comments from people who have built this kit!! Anyway it does look half decent in the display cabinet. Tks for looking Dave B
