  1. I built his a while back using 'The Ford That Beat Ferrari' & 'Shelby's GT40's' as reference material. Had to hand shape & vacform the glass & I didn't get the windscreen quite right. I may get around to redoing it but would need to secure another set of Fred Cady decals first, at least I have the spare Fujimi Mk11!! I also have the Mini Exotics X1 resin to build so that should look good together. Thanks for looking Dave B
  2. Looks good, I also have one to build but will be doing a locally Aussie racer being Alan Moffat's. It was a Kar Kraft car however. I believe the Trans-Am 'stangs had pie cut front fenders, does anyone have any info on this? Regards
  3. Beautiful build John. Just a dumb assumption, I guess it is 1/24 rather than 1/12 or similar?
  4. That's nice, love the 'early' look

    Cobra!!!

Nice build & paint, GREAT interior!! I don't mind the flake size, it represents a metal flake as opposed to metallic to me.

    Lotus 29

Beautiful build Curt, nice to see something different.
  7. Sorry guys, for me it was easy as I have 2 small vac pumps. They are pumps that were used to pull down printers plates at the local newspaper. They won't do big jobs but are ideal for little bits & pieces. I just put some plasticine under the Greenwood styrene covers and pulled some clear PVC over them, they are slightly oversize but you can trim them down, they do the job. Dave B
  8. Tks guys, great fun building it & I have more to go. I'm really looking forward to building the '67 L88 in Sunray DX colours. Dave B
  9. I bought this stock kit years ago because it was cheap & hadn't got around to building it. I later bought a'68 Sebring Greenwood kit and decided to build the 'stocker' first. I cast the wheels & tyres from moulds I already had and made the rear flares & clear headlight covers by vacforming over the 'Greenwood' bits. Then only had to make the head light buckets up & go through the parts box for suitable lights & side exhausts. The blue, white & red is all air brushed auto acrylic & I finished it of with VRM decals. Tks for looking Dave B
  10. Lyle, that is really nice Dave
  11. Tks guys, Sam, GOOD IDEA! I actually didn't realise it never had any until I was reviewing the post, it's the first thing I thought!!! DAve
  12. I built this back in '96 after seeing the 'real thing' at the Aust. Street Rod Nationals that were held down in Tas. Just had to build a reasonable 'representation' of it as it really caught my eye. Tks for looking Dave B
  13. They all look great Curt, nice builds
  14. Nice build, Tks for sharing
  15. Tks for the comments guys, it really wasn't bad to build and am looking forward to my next one (except the stripes). I built another #67 previous to this with the MCG detail kit for a friend in the States & that was a bit tedious, all that work on the chassis & you can't see it!!!! It is a shame Accurate Miniatures stopped car models, as I commented elsewhere I was really looking forward to the 289 Cobra FIA roadster. Regards Dave B
  16. I wanted to build a reasonable representation of Jim Halls GS. Using Dave Friedman's Corvette Grand Sport book for reference I removed the oil cooler from the rear deck, pancaked the bonnet bulge to lower it & modified around the grill area. Finished it off using VRM decals (again). I have another to build yet (Mecom car) but am NOT looking forward to spraying the stripes over the bonnet vents!!! I have a Model Car Garage detail set & more VRM decals for that one though. That will be a while as I'm currently working on back casting the Mecom Lola GT MkVI. Tks for looking Dave B
  17. Nice build & colour combo Paul.
  18. Beautiful build, love the Japanese resin/white metal kits, shame about the price(s)!!
  19. Sorry guys, senior moment, of course it is 'High Tech', just no engine detail like the 250 GTO a mate has offered me. Phil, as for the wheel base issue you jogged my memory. I did have a problem, I think it was interpretation of the instructions. I was lucky I was able get it apart. By memory it was the rear suspension that caused the problem. If you trial fit it you should be right. Build them guys, it's a beautiful kit. I just wish Accurate Miniatures had proceeded with their 289 FIA roadster. Regards Dave B
  20. Tks guys, I'll try & answer the questions. Erik, no not a high tech kit & I was too chicken to try & open it up for engine detail; Mike, it was beautiful to build, went together easily (and I'm not a white metal fan, which is what the chassis & suspension is); Len, stripes (and circles) are sprayed white, not decals; and last but not least Andrew, vinyl parts were good, easy to fit & look good. The stock decals are not very good & need to be replaced. Buy both VRM Daytona coupe sets, they are fantastic. Hardest part of the build was the wind deflectors beside the windcreen, they were buggers to get right. By the way Andrew, I have built Jim Hall's Grand Sport using HRM detail parts, modified the body and pan-caked the bonnet hump to more acurately reflect the 67 car. It's not perfect but it's a good representation of it. Also used VRM decals (I sound like an advert for them!!!). Might post it next week, trying to limit it to 1 post a week Tks again guys
  21. I've always wanted this kit & was lucky enough to be in a position to swap something for it.Built box stock with the exception of the stripes & roundels (painted) and using VRM decals. Tks for looking Dave B
  22. Tks for the kind words guys. By the way, the stripes were painted & the decals are Vintage Racing Miniatures. They're a beautiful decal.
  23. Restored this old girl for around the 3rd time. I'm finally happy with it after having been through the side skirts & wide BBS period (red of course). It is now a bit of a 'what if'. What if Ford had financed Shelby to build a winning Gp 4 car, being a Ford fan it would have been nice. Anyway, hope you enjoyed & tks for looking Dave B
  24. That is a nice build Kane. Generally don't build that 'style' but yours looks sharp
  25. Sorry Jon, I really don't remember as I mixed it. I was after the straight lime green that the Muira was available in but didn't like what I mixed so came up with this. I know it started as irridescent pearl white nail polish with a touch of green tint. No photo etched parts used at all, just the self adhesive chrome mylar that came in the kit Tks for the kind words guys
