  1. That is disgusting!
  2. Those have a lot of landscape in them!
  3. This is a great idea for a Merc and it sure looks good!
  4. Glad to see YOU are chopping this one, Bill. I've had a '51 sitting awhile waiting for my torch ... and my thinking about it. I'll be sitting patiently watching how you approach it.
  5. Now, that's cool. I expect 32's are too rare to use up on dragsters .. just don't see this often!
  6. I'd think some thinned white and some fine white aggregate .. even crushed table salt .... Dip a stiff brush in and pull back and "spray" it on. Some experiment is definitely in order to get the right consistency for the effect you're after. I've had my Infiniti below during winter below in mind for a good salting too.
  7. Ah ... that's the way I should have done them! Looks like a lot more surface area there to cure the problems I had.
  8. I see them as being useful only for dioramas.
  9. I've seen PE engine gaskets before, but never seen them used. It wasn't that long ago and are probably still available. Wish I could remember where ...
  10. That nose looks great! I spent a lot of time adapting a track nose to the '32 I'm building and that line of noses makes me drool! The nose really fits the lines of the '34.
  11. EXACTLY why I can't use those anymore ... looks down
  12. Nicely done!
  13. Alclad itself goes on very easy, but the perfect gloss black base coat would be the tough part.
  14. That's a clean, beautiful build, Nick!
  15. I'd be as much in the dark about an aircraft Mustang It's a '49 Mercury. I can't tell you who actually built that one. There is a signature under it but I can't read it.
  16. haha .. a true body guy! That's a neat hinge on the hood. .. and .. that fastback looks REALLY good! Hope we see that one coming together!
  17. More on the plug wires. All shaped, painted and mounted on engine. Of course, one wire detached from the boot and might be tough putting back in the off center hole. Oh well, normal for the course. These were sure tiny! I never found the ignition box so I made a crude one from plastic pieces. It'll do as it will be tucked into the fire wall and not that visible I expect.
  18. You definitely got a clean one there. It's amazing how many of those are stuck in a garage and rarely driven! I had 5 water-cooled Porsches and drove them daily .. including Northeast winters. They never let me down and were the most rust free cars I ever owned. Will be looking forward to seeing the build up on this.
  19. Ah well ... not one of my grandparents ever owned a car! Would my Grandfather's U.S. Calvary pony count when he was in Texas chasing Pancho Villa count?
  20. Continuing on with engine detailing the plug boots were next. I drilled some .022" holes into.08" square rod for pins into the engine and for the plug wires. Both holes were drilled int the rod before cutting and the engine pin glued before cutting off the rod. I only lost one unit! The cam covers are all drilled to receive the pins. The 1:1 engine photo shows what I need to replicate. It looks like I'll have to make an oil filler cap and decal Now that I'm on the ignition I can't find the distributor from the SHO engine. It's just a box with some ribbing as it models the cover normally used and the wires all go in one side in a group. If it doesn't show up soon I'll just make one.

  23. There will be no chop. Thanks everyone for all the comments.
