  1. I like your thinking about getting it down ... we all need to just have fun and not get too detailed about things that wont be seen. It is looking really good!
  2. I was into Cowboys (Wild Bill Hickok, especially) when I was 10 in 1956 and always had a nice holster, single if I could switch with my friend. There was a Drugstore about a third of a mile away that had a Nichols Stallion 45 I would constantly stop to check out. I really wanted that beauty and saved for quite some time to buy it. When I went to buy, the druggist called my Dad to check on me ... and my dad said yes! It was a huge gun for me at that age always thinking it was a scale copy of A Colt 45. It had 2 piece cap cartridges that took round cape and fired with the gun! The pearl handles got lost as I always had the black ones on. My daughter now is in possession of it, less box, pearl handles and all but one cartridge. It went thru quite a lifetime with me!

  4. The plug wires are perfect for a piece of art ... you have a very good eye. I hadn't seen the trailer before this ... ehhehe brilliant place to store the rear end!
  5. I would be asking this one to marry me! Wonderful paint, Tulio!
  6. I like seeing you pull out these old projects and moving them on ... so I don't feel bad with all I have sitting waving their hands at me. Looks like I watch another truck going together.
  7. I like this thread .. it's good to see these past builds surviving! I have no survivors from my original 1958 - 63 car modeling days ..
  8. I envy many of these smooth paint jobs, something I'm still struggling with after 60 years. What I consider my best, and favorite, is 20 years old and I haven't duplicated this application. It's enamel from my first cheap air brush and I hadn't heard of paper polishing yet.
  9. ehhehe the big VW emblem relocated to the roof rack got me .

Tapani is on here sometimes, but to order you have to email him, and he is very responsive. His email is raurata@yahoo.com This is a post here about 7 years old than has some photos, discussion and links for anyone wanting to know more about Airtrax. I highly recommend their work and service. They make many cars not available anywhere else. The build I have here is their old TR4 body. This was from long ago and their work far surpasses anything I say about this thick body.
  11. Welcome and looking forward to so photos
  12. I like that it takes a full 12 ounces out of the Keurig!
  13. the black stripe belongs there ... it adds to the look ... makes the car "longer and lower"

I'm another with this body waiting for the shop to take it in. That is some smooth paint on yours!
  15. Aren't all us model builders introverted recluses?
  16. Some beautiful work going into this ... !
  17. Welcome to the forum.
  18. I agree with Sam. I don't use thin CA for anything because of all the things mentioned. It just doesn't handle well. Using Zap-A-Gap medium applying with control is a no brainer. You can't flow it into a joint but can dab very thinly and a small drop on a toothpick secures everything, even those oily plugs.
  19. I just have to comment on that tint ... it must look perfect installed with the roof edge! Nice fade ..
  20. This was fun watching with all the various materials and how you handled everything. A great looking model!
  21. Just realized I never commented on this build ... I really like where you're going and it's looking pretty sleek!
  22. I've been working on this and have the bodywork done, all ready to be decked out in chrome trim and scribed panel lines. They will take some time for me .. all four doors, the trunk and the hood have raised panel lines and I'm scribing them in. This photo is with last sanding done. I added the missing vent window post on drivers side too. Notice the fender, hood and rocker trim has been removed and will be replaced with new pieces from shaped rod.
  23. Check it out ... I moved the body from shelf by computer to down on shelf in front of bench. Took less than a week and I sanded down VW circle so I can put the Revell VW logo there and filled the side door handle indent ... this was not there in '56. I also started moving the side door hinges to mid window height for the '56. The filled roof windows were starting to ghost the paint so I did a little smoothing on them. Now I have to repaint. These are a Bondic cast of the Revell logo I'll put on this bus.
  24. I'm believing you, Art. I didn't get that piece off ebay so, the fit and yellowing has passed. So has finding a replacement for now. I don't have a vacuforming machine, but seems it would be easy to do this. I do keep looking at Micro Mark's Vacuum Forming Machine, but it's still a bit much for how much I'd use it.
