  1. I agree with you about the quality of the brands mentioned, but I've only built one 250 GTO which happened to be a glue bomb to start. Still, I found this to be a well done kit ... and it does have a beautiful engine! It's not a new kit and available everywhere, so that is probably a factor. I just wanted to throw another option at you ... the first photos in my build thread give you a good look at the disassembled kit pieces .. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/101568-cannonball-2015-build-ferrari-250-gto-111815-done/?do=edit (linking doesn't seem to be working this morning) I'll be looking forward to seeing your build when you decide ..
  2. Well, during my 60 years, I did Pall Malls, L&M, Winston and Salem measured in years. They got me.

Interesting. Looks like a between WW German Scout Car
  5. I don't pay much attention to dates and time but many of the many are over 10 years in the sleeping box. Pictures I do have and many will have seen these in one stage or another. I can hear their muffled cries for attention every time I decent the stairs to the shop .. 32 Chrysler Hot Hod 32 Hot Rod 49 Mercury Renault CV 56 Kombi 59 Impala 60's Dragster 61 Valiant Dodge A-100 work truck TR4A 69 VW Bug 81 Porsche 924 Turbo 91 and 84 Porsche 944 92 Crown Victoria 95 Subaru Legacy Citroen 15CV Infiniti G35 Subaru Sambar
  6. Well done and it looks just right in that yard.
  7. and check out the "Lack of Lawyers" in the 50's that allowed this to happen ... they used real names on the candy cigs! I was a Lucky's boy myself
  8. This is interesting, I never knew the did this on any car. On a whim, I painted the fender wells on my dark blue TR4A with zinc chromate primer. just babbling what this made me think of ...
  9. Well, I sure like it, Tom ... the cab and giving you more choices every time you look at your pile of projects!
  10. I think the wood grain looks good and close to scale. I get the idea you are trying to set the light inner wood back and you seem on the right track. Can you place it behind in large pieces and still get the interior in? Maybe a little sanding on the back of the wood after it's in place if it needs to be thinner.
  11. Yeah for the Grey and Blue! I have been wanting to do a Statie for awhile ... have the decals for years! Will be watching. A lot of nice work already on the chassis!
  12. well, I'll (I'm sure that's "We'll" be here no mater when the mag comes in the mail ...
  13. These had me hooked when young ...
  14. I send links to my threads to friends that are not members here all the time and they have no problem looking at them. There are many that just browse here, they just can't post until they join.
  15. I support supporters too. No other forum even comes close to MCM. This has been discussed and rejected before but now is the time to do it!
  16. No other magazine would inform us like you do, Gregg. I've never wondered about where the latest issue is, just covet and hibernate with it.
  17. He could have gotten the same "look away from it" effect just doing that to the wheels ... about the stupidest trend ever in the history of the automobile. Cars were meant for driving.

My favorite dash of all times came out great in your build ... especially like the PE items used! I'm with you on that BMF issue ... I have a '59 myself that has been stalled for 20 years because I couldn't finish the BMF! My fingers ... and steadiness ...seem to be improving as I've done a few trim jobs pretty well. This is a build of the one I owned
  19. That trunk should be reduced to pulp in about an hour if it rains
  20. Sounds like you've got it .. just remember your camera for all us too far away to go!!
  21. These are some great looking modifieds here ... mine is way back in the build list so maybe seeing these great builds will move it up in the que!
  22. My favorite type of build ... "something I owned"! Beautiful job, and thanks for showing some of what was involved.
  23. August 1st is 70 ... this one is hitting me hard, but hasn't slowed me down ... nothing can slow my natural glue pace
