What did you see on the road today?
Foxer replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
New Yorker on his first outing. It's actually spring down there, Jon. -
The PVA glue is a tacky glue ... as long as you're careful applying it, it won't follow the engraving any more than at all the other edges. It won't 'flow' anyway.

Very nice! Those engines sure had a lot of hard plumbing ... all the wiring you added really livens up the engine bay.

a wonderful build . you did it justice!

Thanks to the experts I respect for all the information! I haven't bid on the piece yet. If it's really yellow plastic I could use it, so a done deal. What I do if I get it has many options, thanks to the rest of you.

That is a sculpture ... piece of art ... wonderful bodywork!

That's pretty cool and a very unusual model to see!

I have an AMT '61 Valiant glue bomb I'm restoring and the window glass has spots of 1961 tube glue I have to remove. I've polished the glass down to a grit that has 'smoothed' the surface to the point I can see the defect is much deeper and can't be removed without sanding the glass down to over half it's thickness. Here's some pics, but this is not what I'm after. Now, unless someone has a miracle cure for these deep glue defects, I found a 61 Valiant glass on ebay that I think will fit. My glass doesn't have the interior peg mounts but looks to be the same, ie. side glass for a 2 door car. Maybe this is from a promo of the same body. The glass has yellowed considerably so I'm asking if polishing it will remove the yellowing, or is this typically all the way thru on this 1961 plastic?

This is something I've needed for years ... how many of these are down in the rug? .. only the carpet monster knows.

Harry has it right ... this is supposed to be enjoyable. The Plymouth is a great kit and something different. I've had the L-head Six from this kit on the bench for a few years as I worked on a curbside '51 Plymouth promo, my first car. The plan was to display the engine with a lot of detail alongside the car. I took about the same time off from building, but now am so happy to be back with so much more available to build, including my time!

If you'd like to make it look more polished, do the same copy of the wip address and back in the Under Glass thread type in some text you'd like for the link, like HERE'S MY AWESOME WORK-IN-PROGRESS THREAD! Use your mouse to highlight the text and click the Link button ... little chain to left after Underline. and ctrl V to paste the link in that window. HERE'S MY AWESOME WORK-IN-PROGRESS THREAD!

zowie .. why would anyone do calipers in PE ... they are cast in 1:1 just like a resin piece. The engraved name looks to be at the top of the caliper, not on side like the Brembos I had. Now sure about this one. I would be good to see and hear from with experience with these. (looking again, maybe that Name piece gets folded and forms a relief on the sides.

ut oh, another Dodge guy. JK .. welcome to the forum from another old guy, though in '67 I was babysitting nuclear missiles in Germany. Come to think of it, most of us here ARE old.

This is a great idea that I'll be following!

It sounds like you are asking about a lens cast into the body. I would just paint the lens with a regular silver paint, like Testors, as this is the easiest to do with a sharp edge and covers excellently. Then us a fine Sharpie in red and orange for the color. This is still an easy job as my hands get unsteadier. I have also cast the shape in Bondic, sometimes in a rubber mold off the body. This would let you sand off the body smooth. These are some side lights from a GMC van and some door winders in Bondic.

This one is back on the bench, with a few more that just need little work to finish (?). I decided to inspect the flat black finish that's been sitting at bottom of shop stairs staring at me for a year. I put the Wet Look Clear in the dehydrator for a bit to warm it. Then, did a light coat and closed the flap over my paint booth. 15 min later, I went for another coat and lifted the flap ... was a half inch wide strip of dust over front fender ... the flap must of hit it ... calm down, it's only paint ... I CAN do this ... there's NO hex on me --- ! Now it's back on table curing so I can sand again. I counter and this is the 4th time I tried painting. At least I'm happy about the Wall Mart flat black ... it was very dark and very uniform in color. This is my new 'flat black' for everything -

This is more outside the can than the paint. I deadly afraid of shiny black paint jobs. Every one I've tried has ended in failure, thou many were just carelessness on my part .... dropped or some body work thing. I'm working it up as I see it ever ytime I go down to the shop! -
