  1. Here is a link to some GM Vehicle Kits Vehicle Information Kits | GM Heritage Archive | General Motors Most of them are Chevrolet, but there are others. Many of them contain measurements for unusual dimensions. I find them quite useful for GM cars.
  2. That's what I thought. There was a factory color called Iris Metallic available on the 90's F-Series that was very similar to this color.
  3. I was riding my scooter on a state highway headed to Santee, CA many years ago. The car a ways ahead of me had a mattress attached to his roof, until he didn't. It flew through the air tumbling end over end. It was a beautiful and graceful thing. Fortunately I was far enough behind that it wasn't a hazard and easily avoidable. What a sight.
  4. I just got one from WSDOT (I assume Washington State Department of Transportation) on my business phone. I've never been to Washington state in my life. The closest was California. I also don't take toll roads voluntarily, and only on business trips where I'll be reimbursed.
  5. I would check Amazon, Ebay and the like for the proper blades. I've had pretty good luck with finding discontinued products brand new on those sites. Sometimes hobby shops overbuy or incorrectly estimate the demands, and they have the stuff sitting on the shelves.
  6. You've got to be careful with the Revell Cougars. Some came with a V-8 - I think it was the later models (1992 maybe?). Another option is the AMT Ranger/Splash. They had a V-6; I think that was a 3.8L. Maybe the AMT Explorer, too.
  7. Here's a story the LA Times ran on it: https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1987-11-25-ca-16356-story.html XTRA was a radio station that played progressive, alternative and punk rock, and pretty much anything they wanted to. I believe it was licensed in Mexico, but the targeted audience was the US. Great station - it helped develop my tastes in music.
  8. For those of you who are concerned, yes, it is satire or humor. I highly doubt any person has been killed or even slightly injured by impalement of a 1/25 scale 1932 Ford driveshaft in their jugular vein. This whole thing reads like something out of Naked Gun. Check out when Frank Drebin investigates Ludwig's office on youtube. Thanks for all the responses!
  9. Loving your work! You did a nice job on the restoration of the original body. I'm not sure I've seen anyone do a Landau (that's what they called T-birds with a vinyl top) conversion before. I'm a huge fan of 67-69 Thunderbirds. We had a 69 Tudor we bought new. I think I'll be contacting Jay's Resin for a set of those wheels. They're very similar to what I have on my 2007 Mustang V-6. I'm looking forward to seeing this completed.
  10. I found this on Cracked.com a few days ago. It was 35th in a list of the 35 most dangerous hobbies.
  11. There was a radio station in San Diego in the 80s that ran a contest, and first prize was a six-pack of Yugos. I had just bought an 86 Honda Gold Wing Interstate, and I was talking with a neighbor who just bought a Yugo. He told me how much he paid (I think it was around $5800) and then he asked me what I paid ($6200). He was shocked that the motorcycle was more than his car. I used to get a lot of "your 4 cylinder 1200 cc engine is bigger than the one in my car" too from Suzuki Swift owners.
  12. I'm not sure she would need a new propulsion system. She still holds the record for the fastest Atlantic crossing (both ways) since 1952. Allegedly she had a top speed of about 44-50mph which is pretty darn fast for a ship. Many of the features of the propulsion system were very closely held; only recently are some details becoming available. I am very sorry to see her go. I could see her in the 80's in Norfolk from the Destroyer and Submarine Piers on the Norfolk Naval Base, and I would very recently see her in the Philadelphia Navy Yard on my work trips to Philly.
  13. Concur, it's the kit. It looks like it has a separate hood, which generally indicates that it's a kit and not a promo.
  14. It gets worse. I worked at a former Bell cell phone subsidiary in the early 2000's. They told us it cost about $5.00 for them to generate and mail one simple bill regardless of the billed amount.
  15. I've never had any luck with that. It seems to me that even though the conversion is a bolt-on swap in 1:1, no two 1:25 models of the Magnum/300 bodies have the same dimensions. Jimmy Flintstone does have a resin body for that conversion making the job much easier.
  16. Good luck to you! I've actually got a 1984 crew cab in progress, and I found the below website to be an invaluable asset. It has all sorts of information of almost any GM vehicle since the beginning of time . I used it to get accurate dimensions for my truck. There's also ordering, technical and option information. I will generally go to this site for information when I build a GM vehicle (rare, but it does happen). GM Vehicle Information Kits This is the section for the 1996 Chevrolet Truck. If it doesn't have the data you seek, look at some of the other years of that body style. The content of the PDFs do seem to vary from year-to-year, so check 1988 to the end of the model run. 1992 looked interesting too. You should be able to get accurate dimensions from one of them. 1996 Chevrolet Truck I'll be watching your build.
  17. A Hummer EV pickup, unfortunately no pictures. About the same blocky size as an H2 with strong accents and LED lighting. The round headlights are gone.
  18. Nice start. I've got a similar project in somewhat progress - converting the Black Beaury to a custom custom Imperial. Still figuring out the details. Looking forward to your build.
  19. There is a HobbyTown USA in Frederick, MD at US 340 and US 15 in the Festival shopping center. They used to be off of Motter Avenue where they had an indoor carpet 1/10 track, but not in the new location. They may be able to point you in the right direction. The other hobby shops in the area that I knew had indoor/outdoor races are long gone, and the current local ones don't seem to have any interest in racing, yet they have cars and parts.
  20. In Navy bootcamp many, many years ago, they had us use Zest brand bar soap. Supposedly it doesn't leave soap scum.
  21. Well, it did appear in many Mercury and Cougar commercials - at the sign of the cat.
  22. That blue 59 Chevy low rider is amazing. I thought it was at a full size auto show at first when looking at the side view. Beautiful car. I guess I missed it. Why is this the last NNL West?
  23. Good for you! I was able to see them both in Manassas, VA a few years ago and both were doing flights. The prices were way too expensive for a spur of the moment flight, so we watched them both (and several other WWII planes including Mustangs) take off and land several times. Quite impressive. My wife's father was a bombardier in a B-24G (Chiquita Mia) which was shot down over Austria in 1944. Seven of the crew made it back to friendly territory, but he and two other crew members spent a year in Stalag luft 1.
