  1. Love it! Didn't know JF cast such an animal.
  2. Doing a little after-the-fact-fact-checking, I think you're right. Still, just sayin' such an animal could support a few spinoffs. I can't really make a solid business case for that particular subject- I think it would be a decent seller, but not the blockbuster most kit manufacturers seem to want nowadays, but if it's any consolation I'd end up with about three caseloads of the thing.
  3. Oh... ye of little faith. If that's the case, riddle me this- Why do so many guys in my age bracket (25 to 35, and therefore closer to fifty years, not fifteen, from the grave statistically speaking) buy and build models of old Fords, and yes, even old Studebakers, not that there are many of the latter? And a few of those guys even build the same subjects in 1:1. Interest in pre muscle-car era stuff isn't going away anytime soon. Another thing I've noticed- those Hudsons, Chrysler 300s, '50 Olds coupes, and other "greybeard" subjects that have been introduced over the last few years? I can't help but notice many of them are being built by twenty/thirtysomethings. Not all, but a pretty considerable number. I know I'd be up for a Stude or two... if somebody really wants to floor me, make it a '37 Coupe Express (they could use the same base tooling to do a coupe or convertible version, cough, cough). That being said, I do agree it would be idiotic of the kit manufacturers to put all their eggs in that particular basket- there are quite a few later (sometimes much later) model subjects which need to be addressed. Such as a VW Thing- given the fact that there's already workable air-cooled VW kit tooling out there it literally stuns me that there is no such kit, even though that's one that always seems to be on people's most-wanted lists. I'd be more than up for a few of those myself- like you said, quite a few possibilites- flip through a copy of Hot VWs or do some online searching and you'll have at least a half dozen different ideas on how to build one in mind.
  4. Saw one of those once, and so far it's the only one I've ever seen with the green nameplates. It was so unusual to me that I snapped a pic, thinking it was something done to the trailer by the owner. Learn something new all the time.
  5. That's true- I've seen at least one Ford L-Series with the same condition... And at least one other type of Freightliner with more than just a loose bar...
  6. I wouldn't mourn the passing of this one just yet... the owner of this particular yard does prefer to sell if he can before he scraps it. The fact that this truck didn't go directly to the big tin heap at the back of the property indicates he thinks there'd be someone interested in buying it whole.
  7. Grille's six bucks, plus $4.50 for shipping & handling.
  8. Nice! I'll be sure to pick up a set- maybe not when they first come out, but hopefully not too shortly thereafter.
  9. I don't like it. I love it.
  10. Years ago somebody cast the proper hubcaps, Mopar police wheels, and even a few front end pieces to convert the kit to a different year or to a Plymouth Fury, but all that stuff has been out of production since the '90's from what I can tell. I'd personally really like to see more stuff available for these kits.
  11. 3/4 or 1 ton- I think GM 1/2 tons of this era had six-bolt wheels.
  12. Every time I go to the scrap yard, I find myself constantly amazed at the type of stuff people just throw away...
  13. Awesome!
  14. The Dana axles are near the top of my "gotta get those" list. Other than that all I want to know is if he's tired of people asking him if he really is the guy from Journey.
  15. The grille on my buddy Mike's 120 looked like that toward the end of its useful life- a 70 MPH deer hit finished the job a year or two before he finally "retired" it, at which point it had a super stylish winter cover/window screen ensemble in the opening. The thing was in great mechanical shape, but Mike never was much for putting on appearances when it came to that Freightliner.
  16. And finally... managed to get a pic of the other side!
  17. This model could be the mini-me of an unfortunate 510 that used to sit under a lean-to by a barn near my house years ago. I remember it being there as far back as the late '80's- it finally disappeared about ten years ago, along with the barn.
  18. You mean Bruce Wayne? Yeah- but he's apparently too busy being a millionaire playboy and/or caped vigilante to return my calls...
  19. DIE OPENER (2014) Action/Thriller, Rated R Harry Pristovnik (Tom Hanks), a mere layman, is taken hostage by German terrorist Hans Gruber (Tom Green) during a Christmas party at the Nakatomi Plaza in Los Angeles, and must revive a dead garage door opener to save himself and the other hostages. Sounds pretty good to me. I just hope there's no nudity...
  20. I take it you don't frequent too many "gentlemen's clubs", don't you? There's one place where cash is still king. Not that I'd know firsthand. A buddy told me. Yeah...
  21. Bats irked me today. Well not so much the bats, or the fact that in the last 24 hours I've caught two of them flying around in circles in one room or another of the house, but the fact that I can't seem to find where they're coming in. Chimney is ruled out- that's sealed off after I had a minor fire in December, and I don't see how they can wiggle through the grates over the vents, unless a bat can squeeze through a hole that's only about a quarter inch wide. They certainly aren't getting into the house by any obvious means. That, and the right front caliper on my pickup gave out. What irks me about that is that it's only about three years old, while the factory 1994 caliper on the other side still works just fine. I only replaced this one because I stripped out the thread for the bleeder screw when I was changing out a brake line.
