  1. Made a little progress on the Hornet- Minor trimming was needed for the side panels and back seat to clear the tubs. I used the gauge panel from the pro street Malibu on the Hornet dash. I replaced the dash clock with a tach, and the steering wheel is also from the Malibu. Still needs some detailing and cleanup, but the interior is pretty much spoken for. The front buckets will also come from the Malibu, and I'm using a floor shifter from a Ford Courier.
  2. I do, but whether or not I use it sort of depends on what happens with the rest of the RX-7. I'm also toying around with a Cobra Jet type scoop. Next time I'm sitting idly at the bench I might just lay a few scoops on there and soak them in, see if any of them 'speak' to me! I wasn't feeling the kit's supplied aftermarket Flareside bed, so I dug out a glue bomb Styleside Courier and robbed the bed from that. I think it looks much better for the style of truck I've stumbled into.
  3. Love the reworked Renault Vivastella body- I have one of those kits I need to do something with, now that I think of it...
  4. Went ahead and robbed the turbo rotary from a Tamiya second gen RX-7. Other than removal of the mounting tabs from the oil pan and the fact that I had to cut a notch in the passenger's side inner fender to clear the turbo, fitting it in there wasn't a big deal. I also made a 'billet' grille for it using some grooved Plastruct stock, some BMF, and a black wash. I also had to cut a hole in the hood for the intercooler- a scoop will come later.
  5. Nice! Who makes that rollback truck?
  6. That came out great!
  7. Nah... I'll let you handle this one, John! You're way more qualified than me to duplicate the paint job on the 1:1. I AM planning on building something that looks similar to this though, with the AMT '33 Willys body.
  8. She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts.
  9. I'd go with what Todd said- get a Monogram '30 Model A five window and convert it accordingly. I was thinking of building this too, but couldn't find too many reference pics for it until it was listed on ebay a few months back- Rest of the pics here- http://public.fotki.com/ChuckMost/11-reference-pictures/nashty-habit/#media
  10. One of these days I'd like to scratchbuild one of these, and put it on a flatbed being pulled by a White Road Boss semi-
  11. Love that engine- I have a Trumpeter I-6 I'm planning on converting into a four-cylinder as well. I built one of these a while back with a straight six- pretty soon I'll have seen every 1:1 available engine in this kit.
  12. I know the feeling- I gave up on one of these halfway through building it because I knew it wasn't going to look good. Gotta hand it to a guy who can make a really nice looking model from this kit!
  13. I would- a current model Ford Super Duty pickup is the dragon I'm chasing, personally. But I'd love to see more CURRENT light truck kits. If you ask me, even something like Revell reissuing the Wrangler Rubicon as a plastic kit is a step in the right direction.
  14. Very nice! Odd that I just posted in the Wanted section looking for one of these...
  15. And I'll take the one Dan won't have room for...
  16. Love it! Fingers-crossed my next commuter car will be a Focus SVT in decent shape.
  17. Saw this on Tom Coolidge's Fotki page. It's so weird I HAD to share it... and I think I'm going to build something similar to it...
  18. The original ones were. A few years back they reissued it and it was molded in color- I think it came with a few pots of acrylic paint, a brush, and some non toxic glue as well. Not only was the plastic purple, it was also really brittle.
  19. Yes, but it might get tiring having to change your soiled britches after every spin around the block.
  20. I haven't noticed any problems with Revell's plastic being crazed by paint any more than usual (and I'm using mostly the same products and techniques as you, Bill). I HAVE noticed that some of the plastics in a handful of Revell kits are a bit harder and more brittle than what they typically use- the Monogram '77 Chevy van reissue being one. On the other hand, I had absolutely no problems at all with crazing on that harder plastic.
  21. I noticed that too, but for me that's easy enough to overlook for now.
  22. Love it! Passed on a 'basket case' S800 1:1 a few years back. I've always liked these little cars.
