  1. Well, they did have the 2006 GT kit out in late 2005. But it's all been downhill from there.
  2. Sam Tate just posted a few pics of the Hornet 308 he built out of box in the "Hornet's Nest" thread. This is the one I've built- wired, and painted in non-stock colors
  3. This isn't really a Hornet per se, but I'm using a few of the Hornet parts I won't be using on another Hudson project...
  4. Yep, that's why I said 1:25, the R/M CJ-7 engine actually isn't too bad, but its 1:24. The engine in the old Revell J-10 isn't too bad, and 1:25, but when I say its 'not too bad' I mean it's 'not too good' either!
  5. Killer engne, Sam! yeah- the next run of kits will have a white backer so the yellow won't disappear against the air cleaners.
  6. Like I've said- when it comes to Revell new releases, I believe it when I see it... On the other hand, the kit itself sounds promising. I was thinking it would be more of a factory-stock kit, but it appears it will have quite a few other interesting goodies beyond just the notch body.
  7. Regarding the earlier mentions of appropriate engines, here goes... http://www.allpar.com/mopar/amc-engines.html In typical Alpar.com fashion, you'll come away with more info than you ever wanted.
  8. I've really been pouring over this site lately. REALLY like these http://www.archertransfers.com/AR99003A.html They're so creepy, I've GOT to pick up a sheet of them!
  9. Zombie- now we're talkin'! Looks fine to me.
  10. That explains the singed-hair smell... No, started that a few months back, just dug out some skirts for it and fine-tuned the fit of the chassis into the body. Might get done next week, might sit a couple more months. Who knows? Not I, that's for sure.
  11. I was considering AMC power, but I don't have a Jeep inline six anymore ( ) and besides, it would actually be a smaller-displacement than the 308 in the Hornet anyway. I ruled out an AMC V8, because almost all the AMC V8s in 1:25 scale are junk. I am leaning toward Chrysler power, though. Being that Hudson/AMC got rolled into Chrysler, that would be a legitimate choice for preserving the 'brand heritage', too.
  12. Might have been a different pattern or texture to the upholstery depending on how the car was optioned out, too. I've seen a couple of '54 Hollywoods with very different interior and seat patterns from the '53, though I'm not sure at all if the interior stuff differed at all between the Hornet and Hollywood, much less the lower-line Hudson models. In any case, I'd love to see somebody master a '54 transkit for the '52/53 kit- and no, I'm not volunteering for that duty!
  13. Is that the old Imai kit?
  14. Engine is in, and the turbo is on, still some plumbing to be done with it, but the big stuff is in place.
  15. Threw some paint at the Nash today. It's going to look like a mostly-stock, shabby weekend cruiser, until you notice the turbo'd Inline six and the fat rear tires.
  16. Why can't someone despise a computer? You could say that a car is just as vital to living in the 'modern world' as a computer, perhaps even more so (I'd love to see you commute to work, or bring home a week's worth of groceries and a new sofa with a computer), but there is a pretty sizable chunk of the population who despises automobiles, even though many of those people own and operate motor vehicles. The car has been a pretty integral part of American life for about a century now, and there are still people who despise, even hate it. Why is someone not exactly loving 'modern technology' so farfetched?
  17. Looks like a very nice setup, Dave! Managed to blow the dust off my '53 Ford today.
  18. I've been thinking of trying something similar with a Dodge L-700 cab. Glad you beat me to it!
  19. Probably one of the nuttiest engines I've built- Pontiac OHC Inline six with an exposed timing gear, no air filter, a big, honkin' turbo off an IH diesel, and a shot of nitrous. Probably wouldn't be much as far as longevity goes, but would be a fun ride! and of course there's that oh-so-pointlessly-ornate oil filler cap!
  20. No, I just started on the '50 Nash again, but the Hornet will circle back to the front of the workbench in a day or two.
  21. I think Reliable Resins casts a coupe body, but it looks a bit different from what Darin has cooking, IIRC.
  22. It does look a bit 'flatter'. I think he sectioned it.
  23. Reminds me of the old episode of Cheers! killer combo. Like the Ram, but I'm really digging that Volare, Who'd have thought one of those would look so RIGHT built with the Pro Touring style?
  24. A few years back I bought an AMT '67 Shelby that had two sets of the same Firestone Wide Oval tires in the same pouch. soon after, I picked up a sealed '53 F-100 kit that had the chrome sprue to a '64 Impala instead of the truck's sprue. I had enough spare F-100 chrome spures to fill in the blanks, and as a bonus I got the cool Cragar blower from the Impala kit.
  25. I do what Gregg does, but I usually use a GOOD QUALITY masking tape (read, Tamiya, Sherwin Williams or equivalent) instead of foil. And if you spray, don't forget to mask the outside surface of the glass as well to avoid getting paint overspray on it. I don't know about you, but I've never had much luck removing overspray from clear parts- I'm not that good with polishing clear plastic!
