  1. Does he sell the resin stuff there at his hobby shop? If so I might be inclined to pick some stuff up from him next time I'm 'across the border'. But yeah, no way am I ordering via his site or by mail after what I've heard.
  2. I think that kit came with an 'engine delete plate'- maybe AMT just hoped people would glue the hood shut and use it instead of the engine? I do know the '62 Bel Air firewall will fit with a bit of trimming, and looks a lot better than the everything-molded-on firewall the '64 kit has.
  3. I have a 1978 Washburn Falcon I'm quite fond of. Can I actually play the thing? Well, that's debatable.
  4. The original also had a hood that wasn't way too big for its opening, and the engine was better as far as detail went, even though it still had a wire axle through the pan.
  5. I thought Clearview 2000 was finally out when I first saw this post! I'm thinking I'll have to give this one a try. I've used a few clear sprays meant to mimic the finish of glossy, glazed pottery. Results have been, well, mixed. Looks like this stuff turned out pretty good.
  6. Cool, Niko! Looks like you've got your work cut out for you. I did a little work on the Matador yesterday, but the Monogram Grand Prix Stock Car I was using for a chassis was junk- just about every single part was warped to a horrific degree, so it looks like I'm trying Plan B on that one. what's Plan B? You guys will know as soon as I do!
  7. I made the same mistake Roger- and I ended up paying a pretty penny for the one I got, though I didn't pay the huge amounts some guys did. I've heard a legend about the little coupon my kit came with. Mine came with undersized Moon discs, and the kit came with a coupon for a free set of better-fitting replacements. Apparently at one time, these kits with that coupon were trading hands for about a bill and a half.
  8. I'm just stoked to see John finally building a full-blown rat rod! Now, we've just got to talk Romell into building one.
  9. ANY of International's current product range would suit me just fine. I wonder if they'd consider doing an earlier rig, like a Diamond T or that Peterbilt from Duel everyone seems to want.
  10. 4wd Jeep chassis built as a gasser, with a Hudson engine and a cut-down Javelin body!
  11. Now I'm confused- according to Bob, Jeff was the one they kept in the closet.
  12. Now, those I DO remember, at least the Rambler version. Didn't they include a photoetch fret as well?
  13. Guy either needs to 1. Use a GOOD online currency converter, or, 2. Stay off the meds for a little while.
  14. David- I'm thinking that's the AMT kit- as far as I know, none of the AMT '63 Impala kits had any logos or copyright info engraved on them anywhere.
  15. Oh- forgot to mention- ANY build style is acceptable- factory stock, street machine, rod, custom, drag... whatever you want to build!
  16. Gets worse.... I know a guy not to far from me who just got one, got it for a screaming deal, and will NOT budge on it, even after I offered him four times what he paid. And it's not like he was looking for one, he just sort of stumbled across it.
  17. Sweet... it's officially on! I actually dug out the Matador and piddled around with it today, hopefully I'll have some actual progress to report on in the next few days.
  18. I believe Testors had the Maverick/Comet, and one of the AMC tools at one point, I seem to remember them being reissued as Testors kits in '05/'06. Well, they were in the Testors Catalog at that time, but I never saw them on the shelves or being built.
  19. Punch- you mean one o' these? I knew these were rare in the US, but according to Punch and Peter (Mr.Mondeo) they are rare in Europe as well. Rather strange, I think, being these things are about as common over there as Ford E-series/Econolines are here.
  20. From Deans? I got my sealed '72 Olds kit for $35 from him as well. Mine was the USA Oldies issue- on one of the side panels, the rear illustration shows what looks more like a '69 rear bumper/taillamp setup.
  21. Seems like I ALWAYS have to do that when inserting a pin into a plated part, or a metal axle into a chrome wheel. It seems like some of the clearcoat likes to 'puddle' up in the openings, never mind the fact that the plating and clearcoat itself adds thickness to the piece, or in this case, makes the opening for the pin smaller.
  22. I"ve been looking into the water effects- I'll probably go with the Woodland Scenics stuff Mike mentioned earlier. The bugger will be learning to use it properly! As far as the subject, no- but I think I can use the Revell or Glencoe kit of the SS United States. They were identical, and as far as the Revell and Glencoe kits go, I think they were both based off the old Ideal kit from 1954, so either kit should work.
  23. Pretty much my biggest strength is seeing potential in junk kits and cast off parts.
  24. Never even got mine started, and I'm not too confident about any eleventh hour saves on my part.
  25. Same here. Funny thing- my gluebomb project would fit, but I don't want to use the same project on two build threads!
