  1. It seems Mr. Owens isn't "some of (us) guys"!
  2. Yes, Mike- the wires are all molded as one piece, and the terminals at the ends fit into holes in the tops of the cam covers. I really need to black out the ends, it'll look better, and I can mask the sink marks.
  3. Now those 'Rascal' type electric scooter things? Those are cool- even if you DO run me over...
  4. Thanks guys! Yeah, Bill I think I've seen that same car. I considered a supercharged 5.4 from a Revell Lightning (should pack enough punch to power one of these babies), but I thought the four cam 4.6 just plain looked cooler! Phil- I remember that one pretty clearly. Didn't you start out with a promo body? I've toyed with the idea of running a modified new-tool AMT/Ertl '62 T-Bird chassis (unibody) under one of these.
  5. Oh, I'm pretty good at spotting what's what in my rearview mirror at night by the head and parking lamps. Impalas, Chargers, Crown Vics, Caprices... you know, cop cars!
  6. Well... if I may interrupt the hardtop/sedan debate one key element is in place, the four cam Cobra 4.6 engine, robbed from an AMT Phantom Vicky kit. I cut out the frame crossmember and installed it backwards, and reshaped the oil pan to get it to hunker down in the Connie's ample engine bay. Still a few doodads to add underhood, but here's the gist-
  7. That isn't a real Hemi...
  8. 2005 by the copyright on the one I have, and the F-250 was more recent than that. Now, I wish they'd do a '99-up Super Duty Ford Dually!
  9. Very cool! And yes, Fred Cady is out of business, I think he closed up shop in '06 or so. Not sure about Shabo.
  10. Guess I'll have to refrain from showing a buildup of my Massey-Ferguson trio... 1100 tractor, Model 10 garden tractor, and Ski Whiz snowmobile...
  11. I have a die cast pull-back toy (yep, toy) by Kinsmart depicting a '98-style Police Interceptor, which I'm converting into an '03 Marauder. As for this new die cast Taurus-based PI? Well... I'm wondering how hard it would be to convert to a Lincoln MKS...
  12. Oh, yeah! The white top is what seals the deal. One last thing aboot the slots in the firewall, then I'll shut up about it for good- I was checking out my built Starliner today, the slots on mine might be visible because it appears the floor isn't quite up in the body all the way, even though the dash is right up against the windshield as it should be. All I can guess is the floor came loose later and pulled the firewall down a bit with it. So... the reason I can see them on mine might be due to a little bit of 'operator error'.
  13. Nope- no side glass in the kit. But if you look at the car with the doors closed and the side windows up, the window frames straddle the B-post. Oh- and said window frames are molded into the body. See the link to Jeff's WIP and you'll see what I mean.
  14. Love the color- the foil sets it off nicely.
  15. Oh, there's an all-new supercenter being built in Alma... can't wait for it.
  16. I don't get it, either! That's kind of the whole point on a poll topic, right? Personally, if you see me leave a comment on such a thread, I voted. If you don't see me leave a comment on a poll, I probably did not.
  17. I always remembered them as hardtops, my father just confirmed his '67 is in fact a pillared sedan. Seems kind of strange Lincoln Continental did not offer a hardtop sedan in the '60's now that I think of it! I might have to venture over to Dad's place and snap some pics of the '67- might be handy reference for that '66 promo I want to restore.
  18. Now I have to set foot in a Walmart, and dodge all those elderly people using shopping carts as walkers and rampaging rugrats. A couple of these might make it worth the trauma, though.
  19. What is the point of NOT doing that? -ninja-
  20. Well I'll be... Never remembered my father's '67 having a full B pillar. When I was a kid, I always wondered what would happen if the thing was in a side collision! That one was a 'stripper' model, as strange as it sounds- cloth seats, no AC, not even a radio! Like he used to say "This was the cheap-o one, made just for the guy who wants to say "I drive a Lincoln" but doesn't want the frivolous stuff." Mine's staying a hardtop, though.
  21. Testors is GUARANTEED to yellow over time- I'd never use it over foil! Can't speak for the Tamiya but most of the automotive clears I've used are okay. On a car like this with so much intricate chrome trim, I'd certainly want to seal over it with a clear coat, just for added protection. They are pretty visible once the interior is done, but they're hard to see from most angles, and the passenger's side one is WAY worse. The last one I built, I tried filling the slots with putty, but trust me- you DON'T want to do that! For whatever reason, the putty popped loose during final assembly, ripping right through the paint and flocking... That's why I'm going to try putting styrene sheet over them next one I build, though I'm not sure how that would effect how the firewall fits to the interior.
  22. You are completely correct, but the kit did come with the window frames molded in place, and they were cut outlater.Perhaps I should have said "Given the 'windows down' treatment"...
  23. Yeah, those notches in the floor are VERY visible even after the car is built. They're quite noticable even in dark colors. Next one of these I build, I'm gluing some .030" styrene sheet over the back side of the firewall to cover them.
  24. Yep- any place that carries DupliColor should stock it, or at least be able to order it for you. I've always got a can or two of it on hand!
