  1. She's a beauty so far, and I expect she'll be even better looking completed!
  2. Not sure, but I'm pretty confident it wasn't anything good!
  3. Revell AG does a 1:24 scale late model European touring bus. Last I knew it was still available. That's the only bus I'm aware of in the common model car scales in plastic kit form.
  4. Jerry was at the police station, pestering the receptionist at the front desk. "I need to see the man who broke into my house!" He said. "I'm sorry, sir," the receptionist responded, "I can't do that. You'll have your day to face him in court." "No, no... you don't understand!" Jerry said. "I just want to know how he got into my house at three AM without waking my wife. I've been trying to do that for twenty years!"
  5. I just got my Modelhaus '50 Buick grille today, and couldn't be happier. Well, I suppose I could be happier, but all things considered it's been a good day so far!
  6. The bed, grille, and bumpers are resin repops of the old AMT pieces- I'm not 100% sure who made them, but I have seen resin kits based on the old AMT annual Chevy truck kits, so I suppose they're out there.
  7. I dug out this box a couple of nights ago, and it does list the engine as a Wisconsin, and Wisconsin is engraved in the heads. It's a very nicely done engine, as well!
  8. Man,that is nuts! I especially dig the Edsel grille!
  9. So... I take it the headlamp screen detail is an issue with this particular kit?
  10. Dave mentioned the '65 Imp, and they've also have a 348 in the '58 Impala kit. The engines have a few differences in 1:1, but I doubt anyone would notice in 1:25.
  11. I won't get too excited until I see it on the shelves, but I'm glad to find out it's at this stage!
  12. I've got a stack of the Lincolns, too! Thing is, I've never paid more than $20 for any one of them, and I have no plans of ever spending much more than that. No '40 Ford pickups in my stash though (sort of strange now that I think of that), but I doub't I'd pay much more than that for one of the trucks. I do wish this guy luck, though. But I won't be helping his cause!
  13. How I spent the weekend- This is the 'new' AMT kit, with a '64/65 Revell hood, and a long bed, front and rear bumpers, and grille from an old resin kit. I lowered it, added the custom wheels and tires from a '60 Ford Starliner, and dropped in a 5.7 Liter Hemi from a junked '05 Chrysler 300C.
  14. I agree- it's not a bad idea! Lots of modelers like to hack into factory built diecasts! Why not?
  15. Holy hinges! Or should I say, in your case, UNholy hinges? This one's going to be killer, indeed.
  16. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeesss! A 2010 'Stang! Hey, look! There are other models on the list too! I'll have to check those out once I pry my eyes off the Mustang.
  17. I picked these up in a goodie bin at Dean's Hobby Stop- they were in a Ziplock baggie with ''60 Chevy P/U' scrawled on it in permanent marker. I thought at first they were from AAM, but the castings are quite a bit more rough than most of the AAM stuff I have seen. Lots of pinholes and flash, which I haven't seen too much of on AAM castings. Can anybody tell me who manufacured these and aproximately when?
  18. It friggin' stomred trucks... (2) AMT '53 Ford F-100s AMT '60 Chevy Custom pickup AMT '50 Chevy Custom Pickup AMT '55 Chevy Stepside pickup AMT '90 Chevy C1500 454 SS Pickup AMT '53 Ford Flip Nose Pickup AMT '95 Ford Ranger XLT and one car... AMT '49 Merc
  19. Okay, so not all my 429s are of the 'Boss' persuasion, but I do have a couple! Here goes- Here we've got a '69 T-Bird mild custom, built by plopping an Allison Thunderland body atop the chassis of a Model King '71 T-Bird kit. Next up is this beater '70 Galaxie. Her's a lifted '79 F-350 with a built 429. And, it appears I have no pictures of them, but I have a Monogram '70 Boss 429, and a Cadillac Fire Rescue ambulance, both of which are 429 powered.
  20. I did something similar a few years back- sorry for the crappy pictures! This is the AMT kit. My next one will be a Talladega, and hopefully a much better build with much better pictures. I have no idea why Ford never offered the Boss 429 in the Torino chassis- seemed like it would have been a no-brainer for NASCAR, and would've given Ford a contender to go against the midsize Hemi Mopars.
  21. Some of it appears to be dust buildup, but I peeled it off on a few models and it's yellowed underneath, as well. I was thinking it could be the adhesive, but how could it get through the foil? Or could that yellowing on the 'sticky' side just be yellowing clearcoat pulling off? I usually don't apply a clearcoat, then add the foil, then clear over that. The yellowing underneath is kind of what's bugging me now, since the non-clearcoated foil cleaned up pretty well. Maybe my house is built on cursed land?
  22. Some are in cases, but most are not. The ones in cases are faring much better than the others, but a few in the cases are yellowing as well. I thought about the clearcoat yellowing, and that may be the case on many of them, but it's yellowed on a few models that have no clearcoat over the foil. I usually clearcoat over BMF to help it stay in place, and give it a little extra shine. Nobody smokes in the house, so I can pretty much rule that one out. On the other hand, the house was built in 1903, so who really knows what's lurking around in the air? I'll try polishing the foil on the non-clearcoated models and seeing if that helps. I've always got Meguiar's Scratch X at the ready! Thanks for the info Bob! And you aren't the first person who's told me they've never seen yellowing BMF before!
  23. Looks pretty cool. One thing- why are the Santa hats green? Or are they elves?
  24. Looking very cool so far- I've planning to build a rat wrecker around that cab I chopped in the January issue- this ought to prove inspiring!
  25. I just wish they'd tossed in a new set of 8-bolt XLT full wheel covers for this, but I'll probably still be buying a few of these. As far as I can tell- the seat isn't the right one for the Super Cab- the seat looks more like a regular cab piece to me. Then again, I'm no expert on the '87-'91 generation of this body style, so maybe I have no room to comment on that! This is one of Monogram's best efforts, IMO!
