  1. This. You have to remember those guys were rocketing down the 1320 on rock-hard bias ply tires, for one thing. You needed all the help you could get.
  2. Almost looks like they borrowed the old ex-Goodyear Trackers from Monogram, does it not? That aside, it looks to be pretty nicely done.
  3. The only thing I don't like about it is that it's not on MY display shelf. Very nicely done, sir.
  4. Thanks, guys. I had a blast building it, and I'm fairly happy with the result, so I'd pretty much be forced to call it a success.
  5. Gorgeous- the suicide door Connies were as close to perfect as American luxury cars ever got. Eventually I'd like to fill in the gaps in my '61-'69 Connie collection- I JUST need a '61, '63, '64, '66, '67, and '68 and I'll be all set. That custom version on the box top kinda looks like an Edsel update. Call me weird, but I do rather like it. That being said I'm glad you went with a factory stock build style.
  6. Very nice- for some reason the way you did the two-tone reminds me of a late '50's Mopar.
  7. I dig it.
  8. Yep- salt method, with a little brush "dabbing" here and there. Engine is from the kit with a modified intake and a parts-box blower. I don't remember where I got the pulleys-they're turned aluminum. This head was scratchbuilt, but you can get one from Morgan Automotive Detail now. Thanks guys!
  9. Shaping up nicely! This is the first '68 AMT Galaxie I've ever seen that didn't have a severely warped body.
  10. This is the fifteenth Moebius Hornet I've built, but it's the first mechanically stock one out of all of them. Even then, I added a few period accessories- the kit supplied visor, some wire wheels from the '54 Club Coupe, and fog and spot lights from the spares box. Yes, the antenna is thick as a brick, but at least it shows up in photos. I also added a couple of red "reflective strips" to the taillight panel after seeing something similar on a 1:1 Hornet. Paint is Testors Teal acrylic. I used a MAD prewired distributor- pity that it's mostly hidden in the engine bay.
  11. I bought this kit Friday afternoon, and here we are with a finished model on Sunday morning. I did "cheat" a tad by using an engine I already had completed and went totally minimalist on the chassis mods, but I got the look I was going for. The (front) wheels and tires are from the '52 convertible, and yes, the plain black tires and full wheel covers from the Special kit ARE tucked under the quarter panels. The camshaft-flanked skull grille bar was something I made ten years ago, and it was just kicking around in a box waiting for the right project. I guess this ended up being the right project. Paint is Pollyscale Vermont Green.
  12. I like it- might be because I'm messing around with a derelict '66 myself at the moment.
  13. Man, I hate you for getting a paint job that slick the first time using an airbrush.... but the truck itself made me forgive you pretty quickly! Best buildup of this kit I've seen, ever.
  14. Nice job on an oft-overlooked kit.
  15. You know, that idea seems workable, now that someone has proposed and explained it. I'm sure I'd have thought of it eventually.
  16. The Scout II kit has the frame/engine bay/interior tub molded as one piece- it may be a better idea to make your own chassis or adapt an existing one.
  17. I'm not the only one who noticed that, I see. But back to the subject at hand- yes, please! I've been hoping they'd do a stock-height coupe ever since... well, ever since the convertible came out nearly 20 years ago. I'll be getting a few for sure. This is a great little kit in any version- I'd advise anyone who's never experienced a Revell '48 Ford to at least check one out.
  18. Here's hoping the bag will end the mauled covers and ripped pages. Which, by the way, never happened to me once in the five years I've been subscribing.
  19. They do look a little different, but they are meant to represent the same 1:1 wheel cover. They look pretty good with a little detail painting, though to be honest the lettering is a tad on the large side.
  20. White Road Boss done up as a well-worn ex-municipal dump truck. GW Trucks 108" BBC hood, Italeri crane, scratchbuilt dump body, Diamond Reo front wheels and battery boxes, Detroit power, etc..
  21. Bought one of these a while back and robbed some doodads from it... your model is making me wish I'd just built the thing instead.
  22. I like it. Another member (foxer) is doing a pretty convincing '92 CV conversion. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/19975-92-crown-victoria-conversion-from-a-1997/?page=1
  23. Nice! Glad I "reminded" you to post it.
  24. I actually bought this kit as a parts donor to replace some stuff I managed to lose on the MSP Motor Carrier project I posted a few days ago. Thus, the missing hood ornament, rear Bowtie, and rearview mirror. That, and a few engine doodads. So, I decided to build the remainder of the model as a typical cop car-turned-taxi-turned-beater. At some point, the car was retrofitted with an LT1 and dual exhaust, sourced from a junk Alternomad kit. I still need to either add a new plate, or scratch up a plate bracket/fuel door flap. Haven't decided which way to go yet.
  25. The graphics are from the decal sheet- the rest was made from plastic strip and .010" clear plastic sheet.
