  1. From another forum: The Eddie Rickenbacker chapter of IPMS in Columbus Ohio is having our annual Bliz-con (Blizzardcon) on Feb 19, 2011. Hope to see ya there. Dan I've made this show before. When I went, there was a lot of nice higher dollar items. If I had a spare $300 I'd go and buy some really great things. Prices weren't cheap but the things I saw were quite nice and worth it. Mike
  2. What I find amazing and rather irritating is production cars that have been restored go through the roof while race cars that show the skills of a craftsman often fall flat. I remember seeing a Lil 'John Hot Rod cover car sell. It went for less then forty. Then a restored Chevy hits $100K. Something isn't right with that..... Mike
  3. I got you beat.....at least in my book (which is the one I count). My wife and I adopted two wonderful children from Guatemala. Mike
  4. This is one kit I'd been looking for detail information for...... Thanks! Mike
  5. I've got a built up Wackie Woodie. What would you like to know? Mike
  6. What issue is currently in stores? I thought 133 had mailed a month ago but neither of my LHS's have had it. Mike
  7. Does anyone have any pictures of the Good Stuff (not Comp Resins) Barry Setzer Dragster? I have the Comp Resin piece and I'd like to correct it. I'd like to compare it to the Good Stuff version for ideas. Thanks, Mike
  8. That is soooooooo sweeet! Mike
  9. Tuesday Morning is an interesting store that's sorta an upscale Big Lots. They're open during the holidays with rather erratic hours. Check out: http://www.tuesdaymorning.com/indexCatalogOn.asp I've only been to a couple but none are within three hours of me now. Mike
  10. Built. I'm good at starting but I get to some point and there's a stumbling block that keeps me from completing anything. That's it......Built.
  11. Once again Scott proves he's more talented than 99.99% of the other modelers in the world. Great work! Mike
  12. Holy krap Batman.......If Greg can finish a model I better do the same thing. If not Ken Hart will abuse me relentlessly.
  13. My Father died this year. He was both a Korean and Viet Nam vet. It wasn't until I went through his effects preparing for his funeral that I truly knew what he gave. Mum talked about how he had changed after Viet Nam. It wasn't until the latter years of his life that he came to peace with things that happened during that war. Mum said that she had been married to four men. The one before Korea. The one who came back from Korea. The one who came back from Viet Nam. The one who finally was at peace. It wasn't until the military service at the cemetery, that I finally understood why the military had been so special to him. It made him who he was. What he was, was a good man. He served the country in the military and continued serving others after his retirement. I appreciate what he gave me and he and others gave to this country. I encourage you to say thanks to a veteran tomorrow and every other opportunity you have. I also ask you to say a prayer for those fighting battles both abroad and within themselves.
  14. Three things...... 1. Please put together a tutorial. I'm either going to modify the Revell body or a resin Good Stuff body. Either way, there's significant challenges. Of course, I enjoy those challenges. 2. Got any extra MPC Omni/Charger bodies? PM if you do. 3. I'm glad you're sticking around. I thought you were dropping the hobby to concentrate on other things. I hope this is a sign of good things in your life. Mike
  15. I keep on wondering why not just use the PL Charger body instead of the Revell body? With the exception of the window posts, the PL body looks like the best body for an accurate 1969 Charger. The Revell body is a slab side and has a wedge cut to it that is a great newstalgia body but not an accurate 1969. Chuck's mods do improve the Revell body greatly but does it improve it enough to justify the work? What areas are the Revell body better than the PL? The top of both the front and rear fenders of the Revell body just doesn't look right to me. It is apparent the sides and the lack of wedge of the PL makes it a better body out of the box. My choice right now, is the Good Stuff Charger body. I got three of those. One is in great shape while the other two show damage.
  16. the Borg'ster wants it. X 12 or so. This looks to be a great kit. Now what do I do with those PL kits I've been hoarding? Mike
  17. Ken, high sheriff of trades: You've misunderstood my statement. The Chi-town has a newstalgia motor. No way in the world can you convince me that motor is not a good rendition of an alloy block. The motor in the midget is a natural for use in an early model T like a pre-war hot rod, early lsr car etc. The in and out box would work well in an early modified round track car. As for it being substantially smaller, until we're able to compare them, I still see the possibilities.
  18. Sorry, I disagree with you. Molding all the parts in one piece makes it more difficult to detail. It also makes part swapping more difficult. If you want to use this engine in a street rod, the first thing you have to do is remove the transmission. It looks like a great piece but in seperating it, either the trans or the motor will likely be damaged. I can see the parts going to two builds but they'll need repair prior to use. Plus you end up with one really long seam to deal with. I wonder if some builders won't think its worth the effort. Its like the Chi-town car, if you want to change the newstalgia motor for a correct motor, you have to separate the trans or use an inferior one from another kit. Mike
  19. I've got the decals that Slixx Rams Horns. I'm not sure if I build another Snow car, but a Jake car is possible.
  20. Those studio shots are quite reassuring. I know what my first kit bash will be! Mike
  21. I'm worried. After some of the parts on the Ch-Town being so good (check out the transmsson!), the engine/transmission/shifter/driveshaft looks like a step backwards. Also does this have plastic tires? The body looks good but the parts I want to steal may not be any better than what we've had for several years. The pictures remind me too much of a Monogram kit from the early 80's. I'll be waiting for the build up reports. Mike
  22. I don't care who does them......just that someone does. Mike
  23. Jim: Wasn't the Jake Johnson car the '71 Charger with the Revell sponsorship? Mike
  24. KEN: Borrowing a couple of bodies and not returning them truly sounds like a "bad habit." Mike
  25. One thing I find encouraging is the front end looks right. Almost all the previous Logghe Chassis are wrong in that they have the coilovers (normally chromed) on a main rail of the chassis. I'll be on the lookout for this one. Mike
