Out for a Cruise
moparfarmer replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Great story..I've had many classics since I've been married..I have a 64 Fury convertible which I showed for 15 yrs..My kids don't want or are interested buy my oldest grand-daughter like to go cruising in it..I would sell but not for a cent less than what I want..Good reliable car I can drive anywhere in N.A. without anticipating any trouble..If it wasn't for my wife having a good job(RN) I wouldn't have had my toys or the toys I have now..Thank you Kathy Farmer... -
I know its probably not what you want, but spray some paint into a container(small) and after you've foiled and pretty much finished touch it up like a stone chip on your car..It will more than likely be visible but the chrome and if its a good build it will make it much less noticable..By the looks of the pictures it will be a real nice build that you can be proud of..Who knows?, only you know and nobody weill be picking it up and studying it..Touch it up and enjoy...

Where can I find a 1965 Dodge Coronet 2 dr post..I have the Lindberg chassis and interior and the grill/bumpers from the prepainted (can't remember the manufacturers name) convertible and hardtop..Who has a nice one that doesn't need lots of prep? Thanks in advance...

It seems to me that the w/shild upper header dips down in the center,,I built one many years ago and the same thing..Nice kit to build though, I wish it would have had a 440 single barrel carb and stock air cleaner..

AMT 1967 Impala Super Sport - Fairly Stock build
moparfarmer replied to mademan's topic in WIP: Model Cars
If you cleared over the foil how did you feel how it looked? Were you pleased with the results? What kind of clear did you use? -
The only fault I find with this kit and lots of other new ones (all manufacturers) they all have separate vent glass..In the manufacturers quest to make kits with more parts(to make them look like,"Look at all the parts, it must be a real detailed kit")...I don't like that idea..I really like the simplicity or the Monogram Muscle of the early 90s..They were detailed and could be made into some nice looking replicas...Enough of my rant...
-
Freaky looking ride..You've done a real sweet job..Excellent...
-
That 69 SuperBee is a fairly simple kit..It can be built up into a beautiful piece..Of the early Monogram muscle cars it is the best representation of them all..You will be pleased with the model and the build when you are finished...

Chris, all the pinnings and the engine from the AMT 57 Chrysler should fit real good..The Desoto and Chrysler were sister cars..59 body style changed but the workings were the same..

If I hit the lottery
moparfarmer replied to JerseeJerry55's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Guys here are talking 50 mil or more..You know what I would do? ANYTHING i want... -
Thank you..I had glued it to the chassis after I painted it so I hope it works out good..Did the same to a 64 Belvedere that I grafted a Dodge 330 roof on..Haven't painted it yet but quite possibly tomorrow night..

WOW! I'am working on one now..I know it won't be as "Killer" as yours or as clean and detailed..Question, did you build the engine compartment then install the engine or visa versa..I built the compartment so I could paint it with the car...If I have to I will install the engine from the bottom of chassis with the "K" frame installation..I'am doing the 330 Stock 2 dr sedan. My car will be box stock and painted 64 Dodge light green, mixed at a body supplier, in a bomb..Its polished and looks smooth as yours but not the depth because its a lighter green..Your build is awsome and hope mine turns out half as good as yours...

Pontiac - 1965 2+2 - First build in 40 years
moparfarmer replied to RestoModGuy's topic in Model Cars
That 65 Pontiac is proof you haven't lost your skills or painting techniques in 40 years..Excellent build but we've got to talk about those wheels..Very well done.. -
Somebody in this post mentioned wheelbase of a Dart being longer than A Bodies...The Dart of 67 and up had a longer wheelbase than the sister Valiant..The 60-61 Dart was a bigger car like the Plymouth and the 62 to 65 was a B body like the Satellite..The 65 B body Dodge was called a Coronet and 63-64 Were called Polaras..or just plain Dodge..

Wonder what's next from Round2 AMT ?
moparfarmer replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Didn't the original 40 Ford have a dark blue car on the box with scallops on the fenders? Seem to remember that box from the early sixties when it was first released..Also had a picture in the box of a stock 40 Ford...Think the car in the picture was dark maroon... -
When I used to show my 64 Plymouth at Mopars in the Park in Shakopee Mn that car was there..Its awsome..Very nice piece...
-
Steve, when I saw that 59 Dodge I knew it was yours..I remember asking you if you came to the NNL North a few years ago and you said no..Glad you came this year..I'am glad our club(Winnipeg Model Car Club) recognized all your builds..Very nice work and hope to see you there again next year..
-
The body work is super straight..When you look at the reflection of the white on each side, the line is straight..Super body finessing Jay..Paint and polish sure set it above the rest..
-
When that car left my stash I didn't think it would turn out like this..Excellent,Excellent,Excellent..Very well done and super clean..Now you got to get going on the Plymouth..

#43 Rchard Petty Superbird "Petty Blue" paint?
moparfarmer replied to 426-Hemi's topic in WIP: NASCAR
Go to an automotive paint supply store that makes spray bombs..Get corporate blue or Basin Street blue..Thats the color.. -
Doing a good job so far...The hardest part I had was glueing the lower grill pan(one between front bumper and grill) Didn't want to match up too well and didn't stay glued..Not enough surface to make it solid...

I haven't been in the model room building or anything in the last at least six months..My wife all of a sudden got all this material and wants to do quilting..She said she would work in the basement and I would go downstairs with her and do models..Tonight was the night..Spent about hour and half..Glued the engine compartment of a Lindberg 64 Dodge 330 2 dr sedan(that I painted many years ago) and primed a 64 LIndberg 64 Plymouth that a friend grafted a 2 dr post top on..Primed the Plymouth and my work on the filler turned out real good..Glued the underhood stuff turned out real good too..Hope Testors orange tube glue is good and doesn't break during build-up or when finished..Also waxed a few in my case(Meguiar's Gold Class paste) Glued some lose parts on a 58 Chev(bought on E-Bay years ago) and put in the case..Had a good time tonight at the bench and hope to have the urge to go downstairs again tomorrow night....

Why do we like the makes we do ?
moparfarmer replied to cobraman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My uncle had a Chrysler/Plymouth/Fargo truck dealership in a smaller town..I would spend my 2 months summer holidays at his dealership..I've had Chrysler products all my life..Even my family drives Chrysler products..They have never been bad but I did have a 70 Challenger that had a lifter problem..Got it fixed and never looked back..MOPAR all the way..
