Dodge Mirada and 1981 Imperial race cars
moparfarmer replied to Plasticfanatic's topic in WIP: NASCAR
If my memory serves me correct the Petty's tested a Magnum which led to them going with GM...Later when NASCAR downsized the cars the Dodge Mirada/Cordoba/Imperial were tried by some teams..Petty and Jr.Johnson tested the Mirada..Jr's car had Darrel Waltrip testing it..Neither one were good..Apparently the window on the "C"piller didn't work well screwing up the aerodynamics..Both stayed with GM at that time...I might be wrong but remember reading it in Stock Car Pictorial years ago... -

When I first saw it I thought it was a real deal..Your building and photography is unreal..Just like the real thing...AWSOME

Love it especially the engine in the photograph..Looks just like the one in my 1:1 1964 Fury convertible...Air cleaner is right on...

Nice model and 1:1..Had an SXT Challenger demo in 2010 with the 3.5..Only complaint was the back seat..Although I don't really care about any seat except behind the wheel there was hardly any room for grand-kids..Was a fun ride though..

A retirement coming in the aftermarket!
moparfarmer replied to Art Anderson's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Very good people to deal with and their product is second to none..Best there is..I hope they enjoy their retirement and the so called golden years..I don't imaging they became extremely rich people dealing in their business. They worked hard and are going to enjoy the benifits..Good luck Don and Carol -
You got to do something with the glass..If a car is that bad with surface rust and such the glass will not look like new..What to do? I don't know..I like what you have done but I'd have left it nice and shiney..Just me I guess..Keep it going, your doing very well and looks real..

Revell, great quality for over 35 years!
moparfarmer replied to highway's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You know we now talk of quality but when all the annuals came out in the 50s-60s and 70s we were all happy..Now we have a few duds and everyone gets up in arms about a few mistakes no matter how big or small..Lets face it, most of us are getting to be grey haired and old..How long is our hobby going to last..Lets not sh*t on Revell too much because they have done some nice stuff lately too...Mustang with a chopped top, if you weren't a rivet counter the average modeller wouldn't know but its brought up..Think some of the tooling methods today and also with the not knowing the product(China) has something to do with it..I always said that JoHan had the nicest and best engraved and correct bodies in their times...Come on guys/gals give Revell SOME credit..At least they are trying... -
This has potential to affect new kit arrivals
moparfarmer replied to Jon Cole's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Looks like Wal-Marts shelves will be empty..Also we might have to start digging into our staches for models..Most everyone here could probably last a few years without a new model.. -
Saw this one live at the NNL North some years ago..Very nice job and like I say clean, clean, clean. As one of the judges on the most roadworthy award by The Winnipeg Model Car Club this was one of our finalists one year..It stood out real well..Keep up the good work...

1998 Dodge Daytona
moparfarmer replied to moparfarmer's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Yea I guess I read the year wrong on the box..It is a 1988...What do I do with it and is there any problems with it other than being a FWD? -
At our club brown bag build I picked up a 1998 Dodge Daytona..All models were wrapped with brown bag/newspaper and you picked one..That is what you build for our Christmas contest..It can be built any way you want..I hate the newer FWD cars and don't want to build this but I will..Anyone know how to polish a turd? Please let me know..My skills are not that great but I can paint..Give me an idea please...Thanks...

If I'am able to build again like I want, I do it for fun and relaxation...To get rid of the stress..I collected some but now at my age I'am moving some stock..Did some in the summer, some of my old stuff to another guy who collects..He also bought some of the new released stuff(10-15 yr old stuff) to sell at the flea market he attends..I got my money and he get his..We are both happy..Building for me is relaxation/stress releiver/fun..

Very nice and clean build, but I'am with Danno...Not into the wheels/tires but its your model and you build it like you like..Very clean,clean,clean....

The Story of DeLorean
moparfarmer replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
In the book "On a sunny day you can see GM" (I might be wrong on the title a bit) DeLorean was at the proving ground when the Vega was tested..The front end fell off the car. He said build it the public will buy it..And you know, they did..He could sell anything.. -
Very nice piece..Unfortunately the tail light is upside down..The flat part should be on top and the curved part on the bottom..Not liking the glue in w/shield and rear glass..Would be better from under the body..Otherwise very nicely done with the right proportions..Excellent..This will be a huge success and with maybe some other versions Belvedere with a bench seat, drag versions..Going to be BIG...
