  1. Beautiful job, wonderful paint. The yellow headlights are a nice touch of accuracy. As for corrugated plastic, Evergreen or Plastruct have them, but I don't know the size ranges. Check your hobby store; may be in the model train section with all the other textured styrene sheet, rods, etc.
  2. Note: Zac Milligan posted the following on the archive thread I mentioned above, and you should read the link. "Shouldn't Simón's photo's return within a month? I just looked it up here- http://support.photo...k-who-s-popular According to that, he hasn't technically lost his photos, but rather everyone has lost the ability to view them until his bandwidth limit resets." Rule of thumb: Keep your posted and stored images to a reasonable size so you don't eat up bandwidth.
  3. Did you click inside the bottom field, IMG code? That should show you a prompt that it's been copied. Then you just paste it into your post. Otherwise you may be over your bandwidth limit.
  4. This subject has popped up several times recently. One point: Photobucket has recently reduced the amount of bandwidth (storage space) available for free accounts. Here's a repeat of my post on the current "archiving" thread... "I don't like to keep a lot of images on Photobucket (especially since they recently reduced the amount of free account bandwidth), and I remove Photobucket files as soon as I think they're obsolete for further posting, or are part of threads that won't pick up again. You can see, among our members, that some have lost their posted images because of overloading Photobucket. (Most heartbreakingly, Simón R.'s beautiful Aston Martin build. Click below to see the damage.) http://www.modelcars...opic=26809&st=0 I would add that these Photobucket deletions occur anywhere and everywhere they've ever been posted online. Simón posted the same Aston images at scaleautomag.com and they're all gone there, too." I don't know the best answers, but it might be a good idea to contact support at Photobucket for clarification.
  5. You might get a larger and more appreciative audience if you moved this to the truck forum. I don't quite get why this is in the Car Clubs forum. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showforum=6
  6. Maybe it has a lot to do with your insurance provider. My Chevy dealer required that I had to use GM parts for my Corvette or they wouldn't fix it, and State Farm complied. This doesn't work so well when the parts are no longer available from GM, and it took 3 months for me to talk the dealer into using a nose clip from a salvage yard that I found for myself in Phoenix. (You also can't find a correct glass rear hatch for a C4 Corvette after 1992) But I got a lot of mileage out of a rental car.
  7. Just stock up on some Old Milwaukee and YouTube videos.
  8. You're probably the go-to guy on this question... Is there a workable Sunbeam Talbot Alpine model kit larger than 1:43? I really want to replicate Grace Kelly's car from "To Catch a Thief."
  9. Can't you watch it online in Europe? I don't know if you can access speedtv.com from here... http://www.speedtv.com/schedule/filter/date/2012-5-27
  10. Not on my iMac/Firefox. I used to see it, along with a Delete button, but not anymore. You might also note that every time I quote a post, it goes double, as above. I have to go in and delete one of them all the time. My only guess is that the adjustments to the site need to be a bit more Mac-friendly.
  11. My "archiving" is mostly for reference materials for each car, which can amount to a massive use of memory. I keep most of it on my hard drive with a duplicate backup on an external hard drive. Sometimes also copied on CD-ROM. I don't like to keep a lot of images on Photobucket (especially since they recently reduced the amount of free account bandwidth), and I remove Photobucket files as soon as I think they're obsolete for further posting, or are part of threads that won't pick up again. You can see, among our members, that some have lost their posted images because of overloading Photobucket. (Most heartbreakingly, Simón R.'s beautiful Aston Martin build. 12. Aside from Switzerland, wealthy people have always kept their money in the islands.
  13. Don't forget the US Olympic water polo trials. It's going to be a tough day for TiVo.
  14. The driver said he "just lost it" as he accelerated. "Whitaker lost control of his car after turning at an intersection (which, of course, was directly proceeded by Whitaker revving the Italian sports car’s powerful engine). Whitaker lost control of the 2004 Gallardo and sandwiched it between a pair of lesser vehicles waiting at a red light--a 2006 Honda CR-V and a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis. The drivers of those autos told cops that Whitaker took the turn “at a high rate of speed,” according to the accident report. While none of the drivers were injured during Sunday afternoon's crash, the Lamborghini and the Honda sustained enough damage that they had to be carted away by representatives of Gene’s Village Towing. Whitaker, president of Thiessen Communications, a commercial printing firm, did not return messages left at his office and on his cell phone. He lives about 15 miles from the crash scene in a gated community where he last year purchased a home for $650,000." http://newsfeed.time.com/2012/05/18/watch-the-most-embarassing-lamborghini-crash-ever/
  15. It's getting better, bit by bit. One thing I've found is something that doesn't particularly bother me, but it's a little odd. When I try to put the letter b in parentheses, here's what I get... ( Also, sometimes when I try to edit a post, my original post shows up in the box in code, or it may not show up at all in the box. But this is irregular. Go figure.
  16. It also comes in a remote-controlled James Bond version with the following working equipment: bullet proof shield tyre cutting knock-offs rotating numberplates twin .50 machine guns (RC model incl. sound) special 007 interieur ejector seat roof cutout Length: 1ft. 10 in. 17. Absolutely. Another element to this is that the manufacturers have a duty to (a) protect the investments of authorized licensees who have paid for the use of that property and, b, protect future income for licensable products.
  18. That's already been happening. If you look at an earlier thread on this forum from a few months ago, you'll see that one of our members - a guy with a small home business making scale truck decals - was pounced on by Kenworth, who sent him a cease-and-desist letter, which he reproduced on this forum. They told him to stop making Kenworth logo decals and to destroy all of his existing inventory, which he did.
  19. Just don't expect it to look like real chrome, kit chrome or what you would get if you sent it to a place like ChromeTech USA. It's going to look good, but more like polished aluminum than real chrome.
  20. I wonder if Alclad or SpazStix would work better for a paint job like this on the Fisker that Ellen DeGeneres gave Justin Bieber. (You can actually order a Mercedes SLS AMG from the factory with this kind of finish).
  21. Very, very impressive. I've only seen lighting like that on much larger builds, which I think would be easier to do than what you've accomplished. Congratulations.
  22. I haven't used him, but Stephane Pedaggi of scaledetails recommends Fred Hultberg highly. I'm not sure if he's still in business. You'll need to provide him with camera-ready art (preferably in vector format). FOTOCUT 315-662-3356 F. Hultberg Box 120 Erieville, NY 13061 oletcherfred@yahoo.com Let me know what you find out. NOTE: One thing to remember about photoetching is that the chemicals will remove a small percentage of the edges of your original art. Therefore, you need to make your art a teeny bit fatter than you actually want.
  23. This looks interesting. May have been available before, but I haven't seen it. During Sunday's Indy 500, ESPN 360 will let you choose on-board cameras from a dozen different cars during the race (subject to blackout) Click on Sunday the 27th on the calendar.. http://espn.go.com/w...tDate/20120527/
  24. They're still adjusting the forum, and it appears to have gone offline overnight to make more fixes. Just yesterday, I finally got the ability to use autofill for log-in instead of having to do it manually. It's coming back together in bits and pieces. But I still wonder whatever happened to the ability to delete one of your own posts.
  25. I woiud love to see focus group results on this one. To me, it's an example of how to kill a product launch through stupid blandness. Seems to fit right in there with losers like the Cadillac Allante, and Buick Reatta.
