  1. JoHan promo bodies are not hard to find. The promo 'kit' and JoHan NASCAR kit have a 100% stock body with trim.
  2. Simple??? Everything. The cars share nothing but a few engine options and maybe a rear gear ratio. 72 was coil spring all four corners. 70 was coil spring front and leaf rear. 72 body on frame build. 70 uni-body build. No glass, bumpers or panels are shared.
  3. Very nice work!!! I have almost all the Kitmaster OO line. I did not know they had become worth anything!!!
  4. When is the old MPC kit a better choice???? If building a 66 Charger NASCAR Cup car the MPC is better. The Revell kit is so 'scale' that getting racing tires up in the fenders is difficult at best. The MPC with it's 'in-accurate' fender wells take the racing rubber fine. But I have 3-4 of the old MPC kits put back so I don't need more right now.
  5. COOL!!! It looks like a real build photos!
  6. More 'art' than model....I hope you know that is in praise of your work.....
  7. NICE paint!!!! I did the artwork for these sold by Gofer Racing....
  8. This came in the mail today..........it will end up behind my Mad Max War Rig I am building now..... Cool kit. A EURO design....perfect for my build. IT had never crossed my radar before.....Will need a few mods...but very close to the movie tanker...
  9. The Challenger last issue was that convertible with separate top. Now if they found the old MPC body.....I'd buy a few...otherwise I have Revell die cast and plastic kit.
  10. Bandit resin has the 69 notchback Cuda.....I need one for a Mad Max Fury Road build....
  11. GSL vendor room has shrunk.....and so has Toledo (lot smaller) . We in Charlotte put on two HUGE shows in two years.....AMS 1990 and a show at Charlotte Motor Speedway 1992 with rides in NASCAR Cup cars, huge vendor area with Manufactures etc. Wouldn't work today......change the only constant.
  12. GSL, a great event, is a tough one to attend. For years I attended shows all over. One year I did NNL NJ and NNL Chatsworth CA......so I will travel. Salt Lake is just kinda ;out of the way' compared to say Toledo. My brothers live in Ohio....so I can make Toledo a 'family' trip. NJ...stop and visit Model King....so a biz trip. SLC/GSL is just a tough haul.....still want to attend some day.
  13. What is that....movie truck???
  14. Due at the DIST any second........worth the wait!
  15. At DIST this week........get your orders in!!!!
  16. Pre-orders are the only way to get NEW product now in the model train hobby. I don't like the way it has changed the hobby....but fear it's where we are headed. I have gone exclusively to the secondary (used) market for my trains.
  17. It seems the plastic model companies have taken a page for the model railroad manufactures. The model train companies have been doing this for years. They announce a product and accept orders. As long as the minimum number are pre-ordered the item is manufactured...... but often a few less than ordered. Each dealers order gets cut by a few and the demand is higher than supply. This way the manufacture has ZERO cost of warehousing product, no blow outs or sales to liquidators, and it creates a demand for all future products. In this world of 'just in time' manufacturing with no warehousing or storage and no back stock.....profits are higher. I can not say this is what is happening in our hobby....but it is working for the manufactures in the model train hobby.....so it makes sense. Welcome to the future!!!
  18. Abe Lincoln said at Gettysburg 'Don't believe everything you read on the internet'.
  19. Good old Snopes......
  20. Agreed....tried to do some weird things........I think it's bogus anyway....
  21. Shows there are plenty of trucks yet to be kitted!!!!
  22. I have the annual 74 and 75 Vega kits.......only because when my wife was in college she drove a 74 Vega.....hated that car. I had to change a fuel pump once....seems I had to remove the glove box for some reason....anyone know why??? I forget!!!!
  23. It has been done. Dean M. did an article in a early SAE.
  24. Google 'Jumbo fire truck' and you should find more info. I was looking at one time.....but gave up as it was a rare kit at that time. Look at that steering wheel!!!! What a terror this thing must have been to see AND drive!!! Think about that boiler going full on and the size of it compared to other vehicles of the day.......I'd love to have seen it at full speed!!! I kinda feel this was the inspiration for the kit.....I can see it in there....
