New F1 movie. Anyone interested??
Bill Eh? replied to gbdolfans's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've been following F1 for almost 50 years. In most cases, recent F1 drivers' careers last until they reach their 30s, rarely their 40s Brad Pitt (ageism factor) as an F1 driver.... hahahaha! -
I have plenty of Tamiya tape. I'll try that first and then the"chemical" methods. Thanks.

Thanks Elliot. I have no doubt that WD40, like Goo Gone, will remove any adhesive as well. I might be hoping for the impossible, but would like to minimize damage to the box top.

I started with Les Budge's suggestion with a hairdryer. Thanks Les. Jim, I think I will also try your suggestion on an inconspicuous portion of the box lid. With the hairdryer method, the paper portion of the label came off, but not the adhesive. If the Goo Gone does not adversely affect the box top, I think I'll start by applying light amounts with a Q-Tip. Thanks for your suggestion.

Paul welcome. Thank you for all of the great pics that you have posted in the short time since joining MCMF. As a person who has little to no experience building drag racers, I eagerly look forward to your posts.

This Tamiya 1977 P34 arrived today. I had been doing reasonably well with Amazon purchases. This is how it was hand delivered to me. There was no plastic bag/envelope. They just stuck the shipping label right onto the box top! Grrrr... The saving grace is that the contents were still sealed and fine. You can see my initial attempt at trying to remove the label. Does anyone know of an easy way to remove what remains of the label. Comments/suggestions are welcome.

Issue 226 is On Its Way
Bill Eh? replied to Dave Ambrose's topic in Model Cars Magazine News and Discussions
I just received my first subscription issue (#226) today. I'm excited. Toronto, ON -
From a Tamiya. Fujimi, Hasegawa, Aoshima junkie, I can totally relate to this!

I found this link on Scalemates, https://www.scalemates.com/kits/funbox-fb24001-gwm-tank-300--1593017

Great news indeed! Looks like Scale Motorsport could be a potential new vendor at the Detroit (D.A.A.M.) shows!

Bit of T Cut would sort this…

Add in a touch of spray foam insulation... -
A friend and I were discussing this on Saturday. He basically said, don't worry. In a couple of years Tamiya will obtain the rights again. At that point they will do large runs of all of their Ferrari content, and will be good to go again for a few more years. In the mean time, individuals with Tamiya Ferrari stashes will try to obtain unrealistic prices for kits that will no doubt return again in the future.

The closer your moisture trap is to the actual airbrush, the better.

Kurt, I just reviewed the Tamiya 2025 Catalogue. There is no 1/12 scale automotive content shown at all. So the 1/12 F-1 Ferrari 641 is gone. The 1/20 scale is down down to a single page, with no Ferraris. in all of the 1/24 scale there does not appear to be any Ferraris as well. I would venture to say that Tamiya and Ferrari have parted ways, model wise.

Coming this year from Atlantis models
Bill Eh? replied to Mr mopar's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Jesse, apparently the subtlety of where the apostrophe needs to be placed was beyond the understanding of the box top art designer. LOL In spite of the 23' designation, I will still buy this kit as I appreciate Jim Keeler's input and his involvement with these re-releases. -

You can only hope that this box art has not gone to print. LOL -
WARNING! Not all 1/25 scale is equal.

I was more of a tetrahydrocannabinol person myself! LOL -
I've been working on a different kind of kit lately, a DIY speaker kit. I had ordered 1/2" thick industrial felt as a sound deadening agent for inside the cabinets. The location where I picked up the felt was happily on the same street as another LHS (Panther Hobbies). I stopped in with one kit in mind, the Stranger Things '85 Chevy K5 Blazer. I can hardly wait until the final season airs. I thought I had missed out on the Tamiya Porsche 911 GT3 RS, but found one on the shelf. I bought the newly reissued Tamiya Renault 5 Turbo, because I wanted to compare it with the rally version that I have. Finally the Goodyear Polyglas GT set, because you can never have too many wheel/tire sets on hand! LOL

De-laminating windshield ideas needed
Bill Eh? replied to johnyrotten's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Tamiya has Flat Base, X-21. It is an additive to make gloss paints flat. What if you added some Flat Base to some Tamiya Clear, X-22, and then tried fogging the edges with that. You only need a drop or so of X-21 added to the Clear. By varying the amount added, you could experiment to find the level of haziness that you are trying to achieve. -
You are doing an excellent job of adding sports racers to your stash!

SpotModel has it on pre-order for about $187. Moderators, if this thread is the wrong location, please move it.
