I need to stop checking Michael's coupons. I didn't get the tax break, but at least it was taxed at the 40% off price. I know nothing about Corvettes, though I know this is a repop with new box art.

This would certainly make an awesome upgrade to the Tamiya kit!

Black wash for grille?
Bill Eh? replied to Steamboat's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Bill, you generally like your results, the only issue being durability. I wonder if adding a small amount of white glue to the water might help in this area. I'm thinking in terms of only a few drops. After all it is soluble in water. -
Nicely done. Finished results are amazing. Did you use a spray can or airbrush for the body?

Typically the European boxing of Revell kits is normally the nemesis of modellers. The flat box style often results in damaged product. This time it appears there is extra internal bracing in the form of an additional insert that holds the instructions. This is a good step forward in terms of packaging.

I just returned home from Dailey Hobbies, where I met up with a great friend. As usual, I bought some kits. I sure am glad that Don Prudhomme has given Atlantis licensing rights. The Nissan becuse I'm a "Fanboy!" LOL Back in highschool I had a friend whose father was fairly high up in the Shell organization. Said father got my friend a summer job in the Arctic. He came home loaded with cash, and bought this Datsun new. It was even this colour. I have been waiting for this Moebius kit to arrive at Dailey's. Even though I haven't opened it, the box is quite substantial as it is about 50% taller than a regular Moebius kit box. Again, back in high school, I worked part time at an Esso station. When I was the closing person, it was my job to back the station's wrecker into the freshly cleaned first bay. That was my first experience with a standard! LOL

You have to give credit to Revell for the new box art. To me it is very attention grabbing.

I watched his test video. He wasn't entirely impressed with the results he obtained.

Helmut, Thanks for your detailed reply to my question. I too attempt to buy resin pieces when they are available. This was a perfect opportunity purchase for you. Congratulations.

Revell 007 Aston Martin DB5
Bill Eh? replied to Mike 1017's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
It looks like the newest version of corporate Revell, has a different take on what is an acceptable duration of kit availability. LOL -
Average folks doing car stuff...

Last clip in video... Hey come back here, this is your fault! -
My first kit arrival from Amazon this year. It had free shipping and was still HS Tax free. This time it was shipped in a paper envelope. I lucked out in that there was only a minor crease in the box lid.

Priscilla, Max or Lando or other? JK Welcome to the forum!

Coincidence in that my first one was also from Hobby Lobby when I was down for an NNL East event. $8 and $9 is a steal! LOL

I was pleasantly surprised that my Revell Land Rover Series III, from Amazon, was actually shipped in a box this time and not just a plastic envelope. Thanks to Zoom Zoom (Bob Downie) I learned that the opacity of Tamiya Base White (85101) was better than that of Tamiya Fine White Surface Primer (87044). I purchased some from a local Gundam focused store, Argama Hobby. These are my final two purchases for this year! LOL

As Les stated, Tamiya Pearl White is particularly transparent, more so than some of their other Pearl Colours. I did the body of my Mini TS-60 Pearl Green. The roof, which was a separate piece was TS-45 Pearl White. Both colours were over Tamiya Gray Primer. I had to shoot multiple coats of the Pearl White, 3 to 4, to get what I was reasonably happy with. I would start with a sanding, especially in the areas with bubbling. I would then reprime with Tamiya Fine White Primer, and finish off with the Pearl White.

Since the onset of Covid, my local model group has mostly been using ZOOM to stay in touch. Occasionally we meet up in person at a local hobby shop (Dailey Hobbies). December 21st was just such a meet-up. A friend had recommended purchasing Mr Hobby paints from the GX line, but I didn't at the time. Instead I purchased two F-1 kits. I bought the Fujimi 1/20 Tyrrell P34. I want to see how it compares to the Tamiya kit. I also bought the Fujimi 1/20 Brabham BT-46 (fan car) Prototype. This was such an outrageous design in F-1 terms, that it was almost immediately banned. I like outrageous! LOL Canada's tax holiday was in effect, so both were purchased without the 13% HS Tax being applied! Hooray Since yesterday was Boxing Day, I went back to see what might be on sale. I bought the Hasegawa FROM_A Porsche 962C, because you can't have too many of this racer! I bought the Hasegawa 1/20 F-1 Lotus 79, because Hasegawa only briefly entered the 1/20 F-1 game. Their Ferrari F-1 kits are excellent. I rounded it off with another 1/20 F-1, Lotus 91 by EBBRO. With EBBRO no longer in business, it won't be long before all of their product is no longer on any retail shelves. Yesterday I did finally purchase some bottles from the Mr Color GX line. The paints are named "Mr Metal _______ ". When you look at the pigment on the bottom of each bottle, there is a subtle metallic sheen present.

Tamiya kit 24031 was the street car.

Might a chassis from the Tamiya Fiat work as a starting point for the Abarth?
