I made an intangible purchase today. I created an account with Cults 3-D, and purchased an stl file of a Nissan L24 motor. This is the motor that was found in the Nissan Fairlady 240ZG. I have a friend who has a printer and will ask him if he would make a print of the stl file. Seeing as how I know nothing about 3-D printing or stl files, I saved the recommended print settings from the Cults 3-D website. When (if?) I get the print, I will take pictures and add them to this posting! The printed motor on the website looks awesome.

I for one am glad that you started this thread. I'm considering buying a can if my LHS still has it available. I do not understand why individuals have to post about their not liking a product or process. Possibly a moderator(s) can just delete all of the off topic / irrelevant posts instead of deleting the whole thread.

I have been following along with most of this discussion. You have the Rustoleum paint and primer. You also mentioned that you have an airbrush. Why not just decant some of the blue paint and some of the primer. You don't have to empty both full spray cans. Then you can experiment with applying suitable light coats through your airbrush. Do this on some scrap styrene, or even on an old kit body. This might give you an idea as to how the primer and paint might interact with each other and possibly with styrene as well. That's just my thought on erring on the cautionary side. Bill A.

This was a LHS purchase today. This is something that I have done before, that I refer to as the tail that wags the dog. I purchased the C1 transkit at the NNL East, but did not have the required Hasegawa Mini kit. Now I have that kit! This is a planned build for the upcoming ACME show in Georgia!

After reading "Winning - The Racing Life Of Paul Newman", I decided that I would like to have a model of his Barbour Racing Porsche from LeMans. I placed an order with Indycals on June 3rd, and it arrived today.

It's a Fujimi. This kit does not appear to have motorized origins. However, the differential and back portion of the driveshaft are moulded into the chassis plate. It has full engine detail, although you have to cut the hood open. Other than the engine, there does not appear to be much else for the engine bay.Let's just say the price was right for what it is. I will probably swap out the wheels and tires for a nicer Fujimi or Aoshima set.

I really like the aero Cougars. That Tom Daniel California Street Vette is a tough one to find. Any Fujimi Enthusiast Porsche is worth adding to the stash.

I have a few of the more recent Aoshima kits and they are well detailed. When I think of kits that had their origins as motorized models, it usually means they have simplified chassis detail. Is the kit you built the one shown in the Youtube video at the end?
-
After watching the video, I now know what an extraordinarily good job you did of capturing/replicating the real car. I have got to keep my out for that Aoshima kit! Great model of yours Andrew.

Is there a build thread, or do you have any shots of the interior work that you did?

Missing or lost parts
Bill Eh? replied to Sidney Schwartz's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
My Revell request took only two weeks from submission to arrival in my mail box. -
I've been slowly working on converting the Revell '55 Chevy Bel Air Street Machine 2 'n 1 into my take on the Tom Daniel Badman. At some point, I misplaced the hood. How I did this, I don't know as the size of the hood makes it fairly difficult to lose. LOL. Two weeks ago today I got in touch with Revell using their online portal. I told them the part number needed and took a picture of and attached the UPC code from the side of the box. They responded within a day of my request and told me that it would be shipped free of charge, and that it might take up to six weeks to receive. This is what arrived in my mail today:

Would I be correct in guessing that this Hamlin kit is moulded in white and that the Truex kit is moulded in black?

Does anyone remember which year this happened? A friend says that it was the late 90's. I do remember travelling to Detroit for this show. A Chevy Nomad was given to each attendee. I can't remember if it was the AMT '55 or the Revell '56. Tim Boyd did a demonstration of the then new Iwata Eclipse airbrush. He was fogging in the bottom colour on a Mako Shark.

I am not an avid poster. Once in a while I see a situation where I might be able to offer some advice or assistance, and I do so. In most cases, that assistance is acknowledged and appreciated. It a few cases, not so. I find it better not to expect anything, especially from OPs with low post counts.

", so didn't actually add to the stash today." That's an excellent demonstration of restraint, something I'm usually not capable of! LOL

Dehydrating in my Ninja?
Bill Eh? replied to customline's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
When you purchased your Ninja Foodie, did it come with an Owner's Manual? temperature below 110 should be okay. -
Thanks Jim. It is a good thing that my mid month income arrives in the bank before my next planned show attendance ! LOL

Yesterday I was fortunate enough to travel, as a passenger, with my long time friend and road trip buddy. Our destination was the Kingston Modelrama NNL, in Kingston, ON It was a great show put on by Kingston Scale Auto Model Club. There were many excellent models on the tables, even including a section for some AFVs. My favourite Kijiji seller, from London, ON, happened to be vending at this show, and of course was my first stop once inside the venue (well maybe my second stop, LOL). I kind of went a little overboard on purchases of wheel/tire sets and kits. It was a great time. The next stop will be 19 days from now for TORCAN 2023 at the Century Gardens Recretion Centre, Brampton, ON. Oh, and my favourite Kijiji seller will be vending there as well !
