    These are my Kijiji purchases made yesterday. The first two pics are kits that are new in shrink wrap, except the Predicta. It is open but complete. The next four pictures were sold as parts kits. I did not respond when the ad originally went up and missed out on quite a few other great kits.

    Late reply to your question. The two brands that I use are Tamiya and Mr Hobby. I have not used Vallejo and was unaware of the gumming up problem.

    You mention not using lacquer to thin acrylics. I use Mr Hobby Self Levelling Thinner to thin acrylics all of the time.

    That's a good idea Brian. It seems like preventative maintenance can go a long way, even with a Molotow Pen.

    Here are my eBay purchases from a seller over the past couple of days. They should arrive by the end of the week. The Pro Street T-Bird has some scuffing on the windshield that will polish out. The Garbage Truck is missing the figures, which is no loss to me. The other two are still in the bags. All for great prices and free shipping.

    The numeric portion of the LP paint name, does not transfer over from the acrylic line. One of my most used colours, Semi-Gloss Black is X-18 as acrylic. In the LP line it is LP-5. The TS version is TS29. Go figure! LOL

    Sadly, Metallic Brown is only available as the acrylic paint X-34. It is not included in the TS line, nor up to this point in the LP line. When I taught model kit building as an after school program, we built, the then new Tamiya 350Z kit. We painted it Metallic Brown directly on unprimed plastic. It looked surprisingly like the factory colour LeMans Sunset.

    Since enamel paints can be thinned with lacquer thinner, the lacquer retarder might still be an option for your enamel brush painting.

    I know the smell of lacquer is pretty powerful, but the finish is outstanding! It shouldn't be as bad as using a spray can indoors. LOL Let me know how it goes, and good luck with fall/winter modelling here in the GWN!

    Tamiya also has a retarder agent for lacquer paint. This might be useful if you were going to brush paint Tamiya's Liquid Surface Primer. The Testors square bottle paint is enamel, right? I'm not sure if the the same Lacquer Retarder could be used when brush painting enamel. Might be worth a try.

    If you might be brush painting with acrylic paint, I might suggest using some acrylic paint retarder, such as that by Tamiya. A couple of drops added to your paint will allow the paint to flow out better on the plastic surface, which helps to reduce brush stroke marks. I agree, it is getting too cold to be painting outside, especially with a spray can. LOL

    I completed a great Kijiji deal today. Not everyone is a Tom Daniel fan, but I'm very happy to find these. Some of the boxes are a little rough, but I knew that from the pictures that the seller posted. All are complete and most are sealed inside. That is about as good as it gets, given the age and rarity of most of them.

    Your own reply clarifies the meaning of your thread. "Kit Preferences" could refer to manufacturer, scale, a time period, or even a genre within the broad category of cars/trucks. My preference tends to lie with Japanese kit manufacturers such as Tamiya, Fujimi, Hasegawa, Aoshima, NuNu and others. Oh, and an occasional, kit by Revell, Moebius or Atlantis for good measure. I'm just curious. There are, no doubt, many cities/towns named Hamilton in North America alone. Which Hamilton do you reside in?

    It has been only two days since my purchases at the Toronto Model Car Show and Contest, and Kijiji has bitten. I never thought I would see the day when I would say that $25 was a good price for a sealed kit, but here we are. I bought the Monogram Olds Aerotech and the Porsche 904 kits for that price.

    I would glue down Evergreen Half Round strips, either 243 (0.1 in, 2.5 mm) or 244 (0.125 in, 3.2 mm) on an angle. The ends, where they meet the flat portion of the panel could be filed, before gluing on, to achieve the desired taper.

    Yesterday was the 2022 Toronto Model Car Show and Contest, put on by Group 25. It was a great opportunity to meet up with modelling friends that I haven't seen in person for a while. I purchased a few kits and was happy to win a raffle prize as well. I really like the Revell '41 Willys kit, which was sealed. The Tamiya Alfa Romeo, still sealed, might be an original issue as it does not have Cartograf decals. The Hasegawa Jaguar XJR-8 LM does include the Silk Cut sponsor decals. Rotary tool bits are always useful.

    New to me LHS in Toronto. Argama Hobbies. They cater to Gundam/anime, but have a good selection of cars from Japanese kit makers.

    I am also in Canada. I purchased magnetos from MAD. I bought a few to defray the shipping cost, which was only $15 US, or about $20 CDN at the time.
