  1. In the time that I found a diagram for the parts breakdown of the HP-C+, you solved the problem! LOL You did exactly what I would have suggested. Since the airvalve body is removable from the airbrush body, it makes it easier to totally disassemble, soak/clean the parts and reassemble with a little SuperLube applied.
  2. I sure hope you can Lee. From what I've seen, it builds up into a really impressive model.
  3. $50 was a great price for sure. It is also nice to see sprues still in their original wrap. In the past, I have looked for 1/12 scale tires for Tamiya kits, and found that they are very hard to come by. Do you have any sources in mind?
  4. Thanks James, I will check out both!
  5. I hope this post is appropriate to the topic thread. I purchased a SharpenAir tool for repairing/re-sharpening bent or damaged airbrush needles. The Youtuber, Barbatos Rex, recently posted a video on the use of this product. In conjunction with the SharpenAir, he also used a polishing product called Flitz. I recently repaired a Harder & Steenbeck 0.2 mm needle. After buying a used airbrush, I could see the hook bent into the end of the needle. Based on Barbatos Rex' recommendation, I purchased some Flitz, so that now I can give the needle a final finishing polish. Here's a link to the video: Edit: The Flitz I purchased has a black cap, the same as in the video. I'm not sure if the colour of the cap (black plastic vs. white plastic) has any bearing on the nature of the product.
  6. Well, thanks Curtis for the original post and thank you James for pointing me the right direction. Building my pre-window mask Tamiya kits just got a whole lot easier.
  7. Curtis, I'm thinking that those window masks could be a real time saver. Can I ask, where did you order them?
  8. That is the case with current Pirelli tires. I don't believe that a seem was that dominant on the Goodyear's run back in the mid '70s
  9. Andy's Hobby Headquarters Youtube channel preview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9ij0cTrI78
  10. Alan, I will be following your progress. The original kit was Tamiya. This reissue is a Tamiya / Ebbro collaboration. I wonder what Ebbro contributed to this kit?
  11. Member fromTron-uh Ont here!
  12. I have two well stocked LHS within half hour drive. Dailey Hobbies in Whitby. Randy, the proprietor, is very knowledgeable. The other is Wheels & Wings Hobbies in midtown Toronto. Otherwise, HLJ as I purchase many JDM vehicles. eBay sometimes has some surprise bargains.
  13. Thanks for the reply Steven, and thanks for giving good advice as to the AWG that I should look for.
  14. That looks like a great purchase Steve. I'm curious as to whether you feel the scale thickness is good. Also where did you find this multi-color spool?
  15. Looking forward to seeing where this goes, when this kit gets in your queue.
  16. I noticed the Tamiya Castrol Skyline Gr. N kit on your workspace. Those are very rare indeed, as are all of the Tamiya BN R32 race variants. How did you snag that one?
  17. This kit kept popping up in my eBay searches. A vendor called shop_us_store, located in Chesterfield, UK has them. The price keeps changing, but hovers around mid to low $40 CDN range, shipping included. I did an additional eBay search and was pleasantly surprised. A company that I have made many CD purchases from, rarewaves.ca , also had them listed. They are also a UK based business. The listed price was $41, shipping included. I couldn't resist. Luc, many thanks for posting the unboxing video.
  18. I am not an "AMT fan boy" , nor is AMT my favourite brand. However, the portion of your post, that I placed in bold, is both misleading and inaccurate. This has been covered in multiple past threads, and explained very well by Tom Geiger. The molds that constitute AMT kits are currently owned by Round 2. They have passed through varied hands of ownership. Each time a new owner has bought them, that new owner rightly should make money from their new asset. So the molds are not in fact written-off any longer. I am thinking that that your lack of knowledge about this aspect of model kit history, led you to make this incorrect statement. Having differing opinions is fine. Drawing conclusions from incorrect facts... not so much.
  19. I looked up Foster's Lager internet home page, and it has a blue background. Here is the address: https://www.fostersbeer.com/av?url=https://www.fostersbeer.com/# I would attempt an eyeball match to this color. Hope this helps.
  20. I recently purchased a Martini decal set for a Porsche 997. Is the Fujimi 911 GT3 R the best model kit to use? Is there a way to make the Tamiya 911GT3 into the R version. Any advice from those knowledgeable in all things Porsche would be greatly appreciated.
  21. Thanks Greg. I am familiar with the tractor kits and they are quite well done.
  22. Some help with Revell's terminology please. Does "Easy-Click" mean a Snap Kit or the Lego style building block kit?
  23. Rob, I guess the solution is that I may just have to up my game in terms of the number of kits I buy at one time. ? Erik, you are right. Even with eBay, I'm never in a rush to receive deliveries. With SAL, delivery was usually around two weeks. This order arrived in seven days. I know that duty/tariffs are out of HLJ's control. I was spoiled in my earlier orders because they used to just slip through without being tagged. I think that the wheel sets still ended up being cheaper; probably the kits as well. I know for a fact that the decal sets would not have been available at my lhs. I've got to watch myself! Complaining for the sake of complaining... not a good thing! LOL Will post my acquisitions tomorrow.
  24. A couple of weeks back, I was enticed by a HLJ sale notification. My hobby spending has been significantly lower since the start of C****-19, so I thought, why not. I purchased a mixture of kits, wheel sets and decals to the tune of $210.18. Forgetting that SAL and other low cost options are not available, the choice was UPS or FEDEX. I chose FEDEX. The shipping cost was $52.71, which I was not exactly happy with. Today I received my delivery notice for package pick up. The amount due is $36.88, which I assume is what they calculated as duty/tariffs. When combining shipping plus duty, this amounts to 43% upcharge over the cost of the product. Needless to say, no more HLJ orders from me until they can provide low cost (non-UPS, non-FEDEX) shipping alternatives again. The only good in this order, is that the FEDEX location is only a few kilometres from my house. LOL
